So, really by now, we all know which the best smartwatch is on the market in 2021, the main ones being the galaxy watch 3 and the Apple Watch Series 6. But how accurate are they when it comes down to heart rate tracking? Well, in this video I'm going to test just that stay tuned and don't forget to leave a like if you found the video helpful guys welcome back to tech, it is easy, so today I finally decided to test the accuracy of probably two of the best smartwatches going into 2021 the Apple Watch Series 6 and, of course, the galaxy watch.3. Now, of course, to do this, I'm going to need some sort of professional monitoring equipment, so the guys at well, you reached out to me and asked: can I review their o2 ring and I thought that'd be a perfect opportunity to test the accuracy of smartwatches and fitness trackers Io. So here it is this little guy right here is the o2 ring. Now this continuously tracks your heart rate and your spo2. Primarily it's actually for sleep tracking.
It has a really cool feature where, when it detects your spo2 levels drop it'll actually vibrate to make you turn over in your sleep without waking you up. So if you snore get one of these. But aside from that, it's actually incredibly accurate when it comes to heart rate, tracking and once paired with the app it gives you a really detailed analysis of your heart rate and spo2. So that's what we're gonna use as a baseline to test the galaxy watch 3 and the Apple Watch Series 6 on their accuracy. Now, if you enjoyed this video I'll, do a follow-up episode testing some of the most recent fitness trackers as well.
So big, thank you to well for sending this out to me and let's get on with the testing so to get started, I'm going to go ahead and install the health app for the o2 ring, and then I'm going to get back to you. Okay, so I have just started the test for the galaxy watch, 3 heart rate tracking, and it is way off. So I'm just going to break away and see if I can get it a little tighter and adjust the o2 ring and my galaxy watch 3 and see what happens. Okay, so we are back and things are looking a little more promising. Now the heart rate readings do seem to be accurate against the o2 ring, but what you will notice and something that I'm finding a little annoying is that the galaxy watch 3 is super slow.
The continuous heart rate monitoring doesn't actually seem to be that continuous. It seems to lag behind the o2 ring by quite a lot. It does then catch up to what the o2 ring was displaying and then occasionally it will just stay in place for a good couple of seconds. Now I made sure I did quite a few tests and kept adjusting the o2 ring and the galaxy watch 3. And I have to say I don't have any issues with the actual accuracy of the galaxy watch 3.
It is hitting the same heart rate that the o2 ring is displaying, but again there's just that annoying lag. So what do these results mean for those of you who want to keep an eye on their heart rate? Well, the galaxy watch 3 is by no means inaccurate. Many a time it did show the exact same heart rate as the OT ring did, which was great, but what it is lacking is the details. It doesn't have that consistency and the continuous heart rate tracking, as I mentioned earlier, is not quite up to scratch. It does seem to be a little slow, and it doesn't update nearly as much as say the o2 ring does, or a similar device.
So again, what you're going to be missing out on is the details. In general, though, the galaxy watch 3 heart rate tracking, is going to be absolutely fine and more than adequate for most people, but if you're looking for sort of medical grade tracking, then maybe the galaxy watch 3 isn't the best choice for you. Yet now, let's move on to the Apple Watch Series 6 and see how that does and see if we notice any of the same problems in that as we did with the galaxy watch three. Okay, so I've switched over to the Apple Watch Series six now, and I'm going to do the same as I did with the galaxy watch. Three.
I'm just going to leave the continuous heart rate tracking gone on both the Apple Watch Series six and the o2 ring and see how they do now straight off the bat they were actually almost banged on each other. They were extremely close, but what I'm noticing is the same problems we had with the galaxy watch 3 in that the Apple Watch Series 6 seems to be lagging behind slightly as time went on with the first test. It seemed to get further and further out, so I did a little more adjusting and then the results started to be a little more consistent, although, like the galaxy watch 3 the Apple Watch Series, 6 continuous heart rate tracking is a little slow, it does appear to be faster than the galaxy watch.3. , I'm also seeing the same heart rate readout on both the o2 inc and Apple Watch Series 6. At the same time, more frequently, so you know me, I am on team Samsung, but I would have to give the point to apple here.
The Apple Watch Series 6 does seem to be a lot more consistent than the galaxy watch 3 and is proving to be a much more reliable heart rate tracker now, as well as testing the heart rate tracking. I thought it'd be a pretty good idea to test out the spo2 monitoring too. So similarly. I'm going to test both the Apple Watch Series 6 and the galaxy watch 3 out, except this time there is no continuous measuring, so I will have to set them off manually and what I'm noticing here with the galaxy watch 3, is that it's only 1 out each time, which, for me, is a good margin for error. I did the test about three to four times in total and each time it came out one percent out now, interestingly, once we get to the Apple Watch Series, six same tests, the rings in the same place, it came out dead on each time.
Each time I tested it, it was almost exactly the same apart from one occasion where it did read it as one percent higher. For me, though, I really wouldn't want to say that the Apple Watch Series six is better for spo2 monitoring, since it is only a one percent difference, but I can't ignore the test results. The Apple Watch did get it right two out of three times and the galaxy watch was always one percent out. So thanks to the guys at well, you've now tested the accuracy of the Apple Watch Series 6 and the galaxy watch 3. And the results were interesting.
I have to say, let me know your thoughts in the comments section and if you do want to step up your tracking game, maybe consider getting one of these they're currently going for around 150 pounds on Amazon or around 180. Let me know what you think in the comment section as always, and if you did find the video helpful please do subscribe to the channel and leave a like, but for now thank you so much for watching, and hopefully I'll see you in the next one foreign.
