Galaxy Watch 3 vs Active 2 vs Galaxy Watch - Ultimate Smartwatch Comparison - Which Should You Buy?

What's up guys, high here from high tech reviews. Now this is my head-to-head comparison between the brand new Samsung Galaxy watch, 3 versus the galaxy watch active 2 versus the original Samsung Galaxy watch so beginning with the packaging. You can see a lot of inconsistency here when it comes to branding this look great Samsung Galaxy watch. This is kind of a typical packaging. For a smartwatch looks great. It looks like uh something premium is inside that box.

Active 2 packaging just looks cheap and can't be much inside this box and the watch 3 packaging was more like hmm. Let's try, copying apple's packaging and see if that works for us, okay, so with the packaging out of the way, let's begin with the physical differences, so here they are side by side. The galaxy watch three, the active two in the middle and the original galaxy watch. So first glance they don't look that different when it comes to size. If we talk about the actual design, we have time markings going all the way around.

On the galaxy watch, 3 with rotating bezel- and I must admit, I am a fan of the rotating bezel- I absolutely love that design on a watch now the galaxy active 2 has no rotating bezel, no time markings. You've just got a smooth finish, and this watch was designed to be a sporty watch and finally, the original galaxy watch. You have time markings going all the way around and a very nice rotating bezel. Now the watch faces you're. Seeing here are the default watch faces.

So this is what you would get when you first power on and all three screens are set on the same brightness six. Now all of these watches have a metal body construction. You have guerilla glass, protection on the front, with five ATM and military standard 810g durability, so you've got those features in all three watches. Now, let's talk about the buttons, all three watches have two buttons on the side. The galaxy watch three has round buttons which stick out, and they are made from metal.

The active two has one round button and one oval button. They are flat and made from plastic, and the galaxy watch has two buttons made from metal. They are nice and flat, and they also have this unique, rubberized texture inside the button. If I had to choose which design button I like the best, it would have to be the galaxy watch second place would be active. Two and third place would be the galaxy watch three.

I find these buttons sticking out like that are a bit old school for my liking. Now, quick, look at the speaker arrangements. All the speakers are located on the left side. So that's the original galaxy watch, that's the active two and the galaxy watch three. Now at the bottom of each watch.

We have our heart rate sensors and they all support wireless charging, and I'll quickly show you the charges so checking out the chargers. The original galaxy watch came with a unique and premium docking station charger, so a simple micro, USB port on the back, you dock it on the station, and you'll be charged up within around two hours. Um. The charging time for all three watches is around two hours. So a fancy.

Looking charger came with the galaxy watch and the active two and the galaxy watch three come with exactly the same: magnetic style, flat charger, the magnetic style flat charger can be used on any three of these watches, but the fancy docking station will only work with the galaxy watch. I tried the docking station with the other two watches, and they don't work. So that's the charges out the way. Let's talk about the straps, so wrist straps, so the galaxy watch three comes with a 22, millimeter leather strap, it does say, premium genuine leather. It looks nice in the launch, but to be totally honest in person.

They feel a little light and flat they actually feel quite cheap. So yes, maybe genuine leather. They look quite nice, but overall quality of the straps are not very good. Now the active 2 come with standard 20 millimeter silicon straps, which are soft and comfortable and ideal for swimming. So all three watches are 5 ATM waterproof, so you're going to need silicon straps.

If you are going to go swimming, you definitely don't want to go swimming with leather straps on and here is the original galaxy watch. They come with 22 millimeter silicon straps, but they have a very nice textured design to them, and I really like what Samsung did here. The straps do look much better than a standard silicone strap and gives the watch an overall, better look, especially when you're going for a formal design like this. These straps aren't bad at all. So all three straps are removable.

So if you didn't like the default straps, you can easily change them with your own strap. So these two use 22 millimeter straps and the active 2 uses 20 millimeter straps. So just a quick mention of Bixby you're supposed to have a new improved version of Bixby in the galaxy watch.3, I personally don't see any difference at all. Bixby has always sucked it's. Surely one of the worst digital assistants out there and Samsung should just let go of Bixby and just try using google's assistant, Alexei or anyone else, but just get rid of Bixby please.

So that was the physical comparison. Now, let's move on to the pricing and the specs, so I'll put the specs on the screen, so you guys can have a quick read. So this is currently the selling price on Amazon in both us and UK. So 419 for the latest galaxy watch three, two: two: nine for the active two and two five: five for the galaxy watch, one so a huge leap in the price for the new model, which is a slightly higher than normal launch price for the galaxy watches. I believe the galaxy watch one at launch was around 350.

The active 2 was a similar price, but this time they jumped to 419. , that's quite a huge leap, but not so huge leap when it comes to the specifications you're getting so. First the galaxy watch.3 is 46 millimeters, with a 1.4 inch display. The active 2 has the same size display and the galaxy watch has a 1.3 inch display. Now all three displays are super AMOLED, with a resolution of 360 by 360 with gorilla glass protection.

Now the galaxy watch 3 and 1 have rotating bezels, but the active two does not. Now, all three smartwatches have the same: Enos 9110 dual-core CPU. The ram, however, is different, so you're getting one gigabyte in the watch three and the other two watches you're getting 768 megabytes. Now. Internal storage is also double in the new galaxy watch, three, so you're getting eight gigs versus four gigs in the other two.

Now you have the same single band Wi-Fi along with a pretty good GPS and built-in NFC in all three models. Now the ti zen OS versions are slightly different. You have version 5.5 in the galaxy watch, 3 and version 4 in the other two. Now all three watches have heart rate, sensors, step counters and automatic sleep monitoring. Now.

Currently, the only extra features you will find in the watch.3 is the spo2 blood oxygen, monitor and fall detection. The promised ECG and blood pressure monitoring is not yet available on the watch, 3, which is kind of disappointing, as it was advertised with these extra features. Maybe they shouldn't have launched the watch 3 until all the features were ready. Furthermore, all three of these watches are Bluetooth models and they all support, making and receiving phone calls via Bluetooth and also WhatsApp phone calls WhatsApp messages, and you can reply to all the notifications be that email chats, WhatsApp SMS all directly on the watches as long as you're connected to an android phone. If you connect to an iPhone, then all three watches will give.

You read only notifications. Now, let's talk about the battery sizes, they are slightly different. We've got 340 William hours in the watch, 3.340 William hours in the active 2 and 472 William hours in the galaxy watch, and I've tested all three watches, and I can tell you how long the battery lasts on each so with Bluetooth on Wi-Fi set to auto and screen brightness set to medium on all three watches. The galaxy watch 3 lasted 1.5 days, which is not great. To be honest, the active 2 did better.

It lasted two whole days and still had some juice left in the morning of the third day. Now the galaxy watch did the best, considering it has the biggest battery. So three whole days achieved with the galaxy watch. I think the firmware versions also make a difference. The older version of ti zen, which is version 4, had a better battery optimization and the new ti zen version, which is 5.5, probably needs a few more updates to get in line with the other two now I know I'm going to have to retest the galaxy watch 3 as there will be firmware updates dropping. I believe I did an update just before doing my initial review and my initial review was very detailed.

It was like 40 something minutes, long check it out I'll leave the links in the description in case you missed it so yeah there will be more firmware updates. They will improve things like battery life, and hopefully they will include the missing features, the ECG and the blood pressure monitoring, and when they do, I will definitely make another video on it, so keeping it real. You have the same specifications, you have the same screen, quality same screen resolution and the only difference between these two, which is the galaxy watch three and the active two is they have the always on screen option always on screen absolutely rinses the battery. So if you do try using that, your watch is not even going to last you a full day, the only real big difference to differentiate these watches is the rotating bezels. Now I've said before, and I've always said, I absolutely love the rotating bezels.

It allows you to scroll through menus. It allows you to scroll through your pictures, your music, the navigational effect and that clicking fill every time you rotate. The bezel is very satisfying. That's one thing you need to look out for. Do you want that rotating bezel? Do you want that professional? Looking watch or do you want a sporty watch performance wise? They are exactly the same.

They all feel as fast as each other um, so no one's leading here in the performance, they are exactly the same. Another disappointment is the Enos CPU is actually made by Samsung. I can't see why they couldn't have upgraded that you know give the people a little more. You know Enos version nine one one one with maybe 1.2 gigahertz of speed, as opposed to 1.15. If you're going to charge over 400 pounds, give us a bit more give us a better processor.

You know find you've given us internal storage, double the internal storage, but only one gig of ram. The LTE versions of both of these watches came with 1.5 gigs of ram. So why could Samsung not put 1.5 gigs of ram standard in the galaxy watch? Three that is uh? That is definitely something that they should have done so yeah you've got the latest Bluetooth version. Five. In these two watches, the original galaxy has Bluetooth version, 4.2, um, yeah, Bluetooth version.5 is going to be more stable, it will stay connected at longer distances, and it's supposed to be a more stable connection, but to be totally honest with you, I never had any dropouts or any issues connecting to my smartphone, so even with Bluetooth, 4.2 you're not going to experience any problems. This watch was one of my favorites of all time and no matter what they make.

I can't seem to change my mind about this watch. Every time I take it back out the box. I feel like putting it on my wrist, and then I feel like keeping it on my wrist. Now there is a weight difference. This watch is 46 millimeters in diameter, 13 millimeters in thickness and weighs 80 grams.

So it's the heaviest of the bunch um. The second heaviest is the watch 3, it's 45 millimeters in diameter, with 11.1 inch thickness, and it's 65 grams. And finally, the galaxy watch. Active 2 is 44 millimeters in diameter, and it's only 10.9 millimeters thickness. So it's the thinnest watch from all three, and it's the lightest.

It weighs only 45 grams. Now the OS and apps are more or less the same. Apart from the sp02 and fall detection, all the software is the same. Now you do have some new watch faces in the galaxy watch 3, but the downloadable watch faces are the same throughout the series. So if I just swipe down and show you the quick toggles, first, you can see that the quick toggles are slightly different.

So if I swipe to the second page of each quick toggle, you can see for yourself what's different and what's not how it's laid out. The original galaxy watch has everything on two pages, but the watch three and the active two has it all on three pages, but otherwise you can see that the software, the apps everything, is exactly the same. You can download the same apps. They all support, Spotify, um you're, going to have the same experience, the same fitness tracking experience on all three watches. The decision does come down to price, but also what you want to get out of the watch.

If you want it just for fitness, then the Samsung Galaxy watch, active 2 here in the center is the best option you're going to get especially for two to nine imagine same performance as the watch. Three nearly the same features uh. Even the battery life is pretty decent, ip68 military standard slimmest and the lightest from the three. If I had to choose my favorite watch from the three- and this is being totally honest with you- it will be the active two. Now I really do like the active two.

It's got a great look to it. Um 20 millimeter band can be changed, so you can slightly make it look better, but what I like about it is your. Getting a 1.4 inch display bigger screen than the galaxy watch and the same size screen as the watch 3, so 1.4 inches on both. In fact, the galaxy watch active 2 and the watch 3 share a lot of similarities. It almost seems like the same watch with a different case on top so 229 versus 420, which one would you go for guys? You've got the facts in front of you.

You've seen the specs, I'm sure you've seen all my videos, I've reviewed all of these watches, which one would you go for. So let me know in the comments tell Samson how you feel Samson need to know the truth, as this channel is all about the truth. Um and the truth coming from me is yes, Samsung Galaxy watch three we've. Finally, got an upgrade, it does look better than the original watch. In my opinion, I, like the thinner bezels, but I think the asking price of 420 is asking a bit too much for what we're getting.

If you want to ask for that kind of money, you need to give us more features. You need to give a better processor, you need to up your game more than you actually have, and I feel that the watch 3 should have released at the same time as the active 2, giving us a sporty look or a professional look. I think that is exactly what they were going to do, but they realized that we can sell the same watch after a year and call it the watch three and the Samsung fans out there will still buy it now. Don't get me wrong. The watch three is a great watch.

It will give you a great experience. The health tracking is amazing, but we are waiting for firmware updates for new features, we're waiting for firmware updates to improve the battery. So that was my head-to-head comparison. I hope this helps you make a choice. I will link all three watches in the description, so you can check them out yourselves and if you like one of them, you can grab them while they're still in stock.

Active 2 is the cheapest from the bunch 229. I think that is a great price. So if you are looking to buy one of these definitely consider the active 2. Otherwise, this comparison should have helped. You make your choice and with that being said, thank you so much for watching, and I hope you all have an amazing day.

I'll see you guys in the next one. You.
