Galaxy Tab S6: Best Tablet Of 2020? A Photographers Take

Welcome back to the channel today we are going to be talking about a couple of new things that um. You may immediately notice about some changes here and one thing that you will not uh. The first thing that you probably won't notice is that I am recording on the a7r mark iv, and the reason for that is because, as I said in my last video, the autofocus in video is a cheat code, and I am wanting to take advantage of that. If you are wondering what happened to the a7 3 well, it is rigged, as an overhead rig, that I was able to rig up pretty easily. If you guys have any questions about how I was able to do that, and it can be done with any camera leave it down in the questions below. I would be happy to either send you a message or make a video if you guys are interested in seeing it.

The third change is, I got a plant and then the last thing is. I bought a tablet and even though no one asked me why I bought it, I'm going to tell you why. I bought the Samsung Galaxy tab, s6, let's get into it hey bill, I'm in the mood for a switcher I hit the function, hit the roads. Like till, I hiccup. Thank you so much for being here.

I am a boy named Jamel. If this is your first time here think about hitting that subscribe button uh, I am not a review channel. I am a channel uh that likes to talk about the things that I have things that help me to be able to make the sort of photography that I like to make and to make the sort of videos that I like to make. If you want to see a review video of the Galaxy Tab s6, I will link a video down to Flossie carter's video. He goes pretty in depth.

He gets into all the specs and all of this sort of things that I have no interest in talking about. The first thing I want to talk about is the build of this tablet: uh full front screen, um and then the rest of it is brushed aluminum uh. I got mine in gray because I thought that it was the best color um. This thing is real thin, as you can see here. This is probably thinner than my Galaxy Note, 10 and so that's kind of insane um.

This has a. I think it is a 10-inch display uh. It is not a full HD. It is a think, 2k screen, I'm not sure, but I know that it is better than HD um, and then it also comes with this s, pen and as I'll get into later. This was pretty much the deciding factor in me buying this tablet, but we'll get more into that later.

The thing I love about this s pen is that it is the normal size of a regular uh ink pen and, as I said before, I have fairly large hands. I can palm a basketball and this s pen fits pretty neatly uh, pretty comfortably in my hands. While I am editing video so quickly, let's get into the reasons why I decided to buy this tablet reason number one. I always try to like count down my reasons, but I always forget what number I am uh on, so I'm still going to count them down, but who cares what number we're on all right? So the first reason that I bought uh. This laptop is because it is super-duper portable.

Whenever I am headed out in the shoot- and I want to be able to view the photos that uh I've just made, it's very easy for me to just plug this tablet directly into my camera. I have downloaded a raw viewer that allows me to be able to view the raw files directly on the screen, while I'm out in the field. What I was doing before is I was packing along my laptop and although my laptop isn't terribly heavy, it also is not terribly portable. I have the dell XP uh XPS 15 uh last year's version, not the 2020 version, the 2019 version um, and it's a heavy laptop when my backpack is full of all of my camera gear and if I'm shooting video I have to carry along, you know, lights and extra monitors and all of my lenses it becomes a pretty heavy backpack and bringing along that laptop just adds extra weight to the backpack it's more weight that I have to carry, and so, if I can choose this tiny tablet over that huge laptop all the time, then I'm going to choose it 99.90 of the time. Secondly, it allows me to leave my laptop right there.

One thing that I don't like doing is unplugging all the peripherals that I have plugged into my laptop and so being able to just edit from this. I can bring this along to my day job. I can do some editing on my downtime when I'm waiting for my shift to start or when I am you know, on my lunch break, I can get editing done wherever I am pretty easily. The second reason that this was a no-brainer is that this tablet has the same technology that is used in the Wacom tablets, and the bonus to this tablet is that I don't have to plug this tablet into my computer, and I think that is the major downside to the Wacom tablet is that you have to be tethered to your computer, all the time to use it and speaking of Wacom tablets and Wacom tablet. Technology editing with a mouse on a laptop is probably the worst way to edit and so just being able to use a pen to get in to get some fine detail.

Uh, that's the way to go, and as I was thinking more and more, I knew that I didn't want to be tethered to my computer. I knew that I wanted to be able to, as I said before, edit on the go and so along with this s pen and this tablet, I am able to do that now. One of the benefits of this s- pen, uh- that you get in this package that is a plus um when you compare it to other competitors- is that this s pen comes bundled along with this tablet, I think, with the uh apple pen, it's another hundred dollars, I'm not sure how much the um the Microsoft pen is, but this is bundled along with this tablet. As I said also, it's Bluetooth, capable, I am probably never going to use any of those gestures. Last reason that I love this tablet specifically, is because um, as everyone knows, Samsung makes the best screens on the market hard stop, and so, if you look at the screen, though, I said before that it is not a 4k screen.

This screen still looks amazing, which brings me to my next point. All the things that I don't need this tablet to be. I don't need this tablet to be in the machine. I basically just need this tablet to be able to do two things. Well, maybe three.

The first thing that I needed to be able to do is to edit is to run my editing. Uh software, and so the two editing, the two major editing, uh apps- that I use is. I need this to be able to open up and run Lightroom efficiently. Not slow me down just be able to open it. I just need to be able to quickly go in make some quick edits to any photo that I need and then just be able to push it along to snap seed uh real quickly.

I'm just going to correct the alignment on this done. Furthermore, I want to be able to quickly bring this into snap seed open this up in snap seed. Be able to come in here fix anything that I need on the face, and this is really what my workflow needs to be on this tablet. I don't need it to replace my laptop. I don't need it to do.

Any of that. All I really needed to do is be able to edit my photos. The second thing that I need to be able to do is open up YouTube or Netflix, so I can be able to watch a quick, Marquez, browning, video or watch spider-man. You know in my downtime. The second thing that I don't need this tablet to do is be an iPad killer uh I have no allegiances to Samsung or any other brand out there.

Basically, I need this tablet to just do the things. Basically, I just need this tablet to be able to fit into my workflow everything's loaded onto that computer everything's uploaded into the cloud on Lightroom and when I open Lightroom on this tablet, I just need to be able to edit photos. This has been the galaxy s, tab 6, and I love it. It does everything that I needed to do now: the galaxy s tab 7 did just come out and that has all the upgrades. It has a 12-inch screen.

Furthermore, it has a quad HD screen. Furthermore, it also is running the latest snapdragon 865, plus um. The s pen has uh um they've decreased the latency on it. All of those amazing things that are amazing. Don't get me wrong, I did think about getting it, but two things uh kept me from buying the s7 one is that um this tablet right now does everything that they needed to do, and it was cheaper, and the second reason is, and probably the bigger reason.

If I'm being honest with myself, when I needed to buy the tablet uh, the s7 was not available uh to purchase. I am actually still on a waiting list because apparently it is really hard to get here in the states. So that's it. Thank you guys for tuning in uh like and subscribe. If you thought this video was cool or whatever.

Let me know about the sound, ask any questions and comments below that you have, and then I will see you guys in the next one thanks for tuning in.
