Can you still use a Blackberry Playbook in 2020? By TechFusions

Hey guys, I hope, you're all well and safe. It's jack from tech fusions here and today in this video we are going all the way back to 2011. Yes, that's right, nine years ago. How crazy is that in this video we're going to be looking at the blackberry playbook? I paid 15 pounds this so just over 20. So let's see how it looks in 2020. So, as I said in the intro, this came out in 2011.

That's right, 2011! You know that time when the number one song was Rebecca Black Friday around the same time as some of the most watched videos on YouTube were about animals, the meat drawer. You know what the meat drawer is right. Yes, yes, I still think that's kind of cool, but anyway, in the same year, we are introduced to this joyful tablet, which is the first and only tablet I think to ever come from blackberry. Please correct me in the comments. If I am wrong by that to be completely honest, I never use this device until now, but I always thought it looked kind of cool and when I saw this for just 15 pounds one bay, I had to jump at the chance to buy it.

The price was once 357 pounds, so the price has dropped a long way since then believe it or not. You can now still buy this device on Amazon for 149 pounds, but, to be honest, I would not pay that in 2020 for a tablet that is 9 years old. If you had a blackberry, what blackberry did you have? We would love to hear your thoughts on this when you first look at the blackberry play, but it is actually has quite a stylish design, even if the bezels are quite chunky. I mean, if you just have a look at these bezels the size of these bezels you're, going to carry around the stuff this device um today, people think what is that it still looks pretty slick, and it's fairly small, which means that it can fit into your hand.

Nice and easily, using the device nine years after the release date, I was surprised just how well the software functioned. The screen was surprisingly good, especially for the time, but even now I thought it was okay. I mean the screen is only 7 inches, which seems pretty small compared to today's standards, but don't be fooled even in 2020, the screen doesn't look too bad. It obviously doesn't stack up to tablets today, but, to be honest, that's to be expected. Blackberry, of course, always have their own software, and this tablet is no different.

Some of their features such as multitasking that even some gestures feel like a typical smartphone or tablet that you would see today, for example, an iPad or even an android tablet. Whenever I think of blackberry. The first thing I always think of is the keyboard, so I felt I had to mention it somewhere in this video, of course, unlike other blackberries, this keyboard has a touchscreen, so it's not the best, but to be honest, it's not the worst either and, most importantly, it works. So this blackberry comes with a 5 megapixel camera. That's right! 5 megapixels, which is actually pretty good and far better than what I was expecting.

In fact, I was surprised just how good the camera was. I think when you review older phones, you always suspect the worst, but it was surprisingly much better than what I expected so fair play to blackberry there. The tablet also was capable of shooting 1080p recording and when you think about it, especially when this tablet came out- that's actually quite impressive. I mean we also tried some recordings on video and the fact that it still looked okay, nine years later made me think this device was much better than what I thought I was when we've looked at lots of older devices in the past. One of the real negatives of the phones has always been the camera, especially when you look at it in 2020 or a lot later to when it came out.

So the fact that it still looks okay is pretty great on blackberry's part there. Now we have spoken about what's great about the playbook. Let's talk about some downsides now before I get into this. It's important just remember that this device is nine years old, so of course the technology has changed significantly since the release date. One thing that did actually surprise me was blackberry.

World actually works, which is great, but the apps are, let's say, limiting to say the least. I found it difficult to find an app that I've actually heard of before and apart from MySpace, but of course that did not work but hey if you're watching tom, we wish it still worked with. That said, the fact that you can still download apps on the blackberry really does deserve some credit, as the majority of blackberry phones be reviewed today, do not actually even allow you access to download any apps on their store. So again, this is actually quite a positive thing, even though the apps aren't great- and I know when it came out in 2011. That was certainly one of the downsides of the phone back then, and of course, even now, that still is a pretty bad downside.

Another downside is being unable to access websites today, such as YouTube, and even though the internet works just browsing, the internet will highlight the age of the tablet, but then again, what do you expect from a device that came out in 2011? We did try to access YouTube and the website kind of works. Then you can't really do anything with it and that's the same for a lot of other things. One thing that did work was BBC news and google, but you can still see how old the tablet is as soon as you start browsing the internet on the device. I have to say, I probably wouldn't use the blackberry playbook today and I think that is to be expected, but I do love taking a look back at some of these older tablets, and they just remind me of how much technology has developed over the years, and you know it does really take you back almost down to memory lane, because I love blackberries and I think that's something we said a lot in our videos and blackberries are great, and it is nice just to kind of take her in mind of how great these devices once were and to be honest, it is a shame that you don't really see that many blackberries around today. Of course, they have made more recent phones, but especially in terms of the tablets. You know it's something they just don't make anymore, which is a real shame.
