BlackBerry Motion - My 5 Favorite Features: BlackBerry 2020

Hey everybody welcome back to tech Augustine so today, I'm here to take a trip down memory lane and a look at the blackberry motion: the all-touch screen phone under the blackberry mobile licensing agreement. In total. There were four phones that were made: the blackberry key one, which this is the all touchscreen version of that phone and then, of course, we have the key2 and the key2le. But this was a very interesting phone. It was the all touch screen phone android if they had the home button that doubled as a fingerprint sensor and also some other cool. Little hidden features.

We're going to talk about in this video, because we're going to talk about my five favorite things about this phone and some of them may be your favorites as well, especially if you're still using it, but before we get into all that and spill all the beans. I do want to say if this is your first time stopping by the channel. I appreciate you being here if you enjoyed the video, please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell. If you want updates, when new videos come out now, let's talk about the blackberry motion and my five favorite things about it. So the bike bay motion really was an interesting device.

It had a lot of cool things going for it, snapdragon 625 same as the key one, but they did recognize, and I guess make a change and added four gigabytes of ram instead of the three that the key one launched with LCD screen single downward firing. Speaker no wireless charging, but it did have ip67 and I believe it was the very first water resistant blackberry that we had and, of course that was much easier to do, because it didn't have porous keys on it because of the keyboard.12 megapixel camera convenience key a lot of neat things that had they released this. You know something similar. This may be earlier, it might have done a little better or maybe a simultaneous relaunch with the key one, but unfortunately these were really hard to find. The only reason I really got mine was because blackberry sent it out for me to review, and then let me keep it, which was really nice, but if you wanted to go out and buy one, they really were kind of hard to find.

So the first thing that I want to talk about that I really liked about the blackberry motion is the home button, slash fingerprint sensor now I was really kind of blown away whenever they came up with this idea. Just because my brain was not wrapped around the idea of the fact that you could have a fingerprint sensor that actually had something that was covering it like. How does it still register the fingerprints? You've got the blackberry logo sitting there, but surprisingly, it worked pretty well, and all you have to do is just put your finger on there and there we go and just like any other fingerprint sensor, I mean, if you're too far off to the side. It's not going to work correctly, but this one worked, I think, accurately as any other fingerprint sensor. One other cool thing about the fingerprint sensor is you can swipe down on it to get to the settings, so you can swipe once to get to just the top options there and then swipe down again, and you could get into the full quick options menu and then, of course, you could go to the regular options from there as well.

One other cool thing you could do is if you set up your security locker on here, you could take a picture by pressing on the fingerprint sensor, and it would send it to your secure folder, which was another really cool option. So a lot of stuff was embedded into that, and it was really cool. So first thing fingerprint sensor. The second thing that I really liked about this phone was the convenience key same as the blackberry key one. It worked out really.

Well, you hit the convenience key, and could program different options in there. You could do a long press to open something up, and you could do a quick press to get up your options' menu there. So that was really nice that you could do those things, and it really helped with the multitasking on this phone, even though it didn't have a keyboard, and you couldn't do the shortcut keys. You at least had the convenience key over there to help take care of some of that stuff to load and pop up your favorite app. So I like that, a lot as well.

The other thing that I liked about this phone is actually the screen, so it has a 5.5 inch LCD, but I think that the color saturation, the contrast on it, wasn't bad at all. I would have preferred an AMOLED, but it looked perfectly fine. Nice 60 hertz panel 1080p display some people dinged it for not having a quad, HD plus resolution, especially being at the end of 2017, but only having a snapdragon 625. I don't really blame them for not putting one in here, but at the same time it looks good, and it worked perfectly well for watching videos playing games. I would have preferred that it had stereo speakers.

It had one decent downward firing speaker, but it would have worked even better with stereo speakers. One other cool thing I really liked about this phone was the keyboard. One of the most underrated features of the all touch blackberry devices was the keyboard. The big selling point for blackberries was always the physical keyboard, but they actually had probably the best software keyboard as well. You could type on this really well great accuracy, great hit detection and back then android keyboards really were not all that great.

It took a long time before we got g board and g board just started working really well. Swift key was about the best that you could get back then, and a lot of the proprietary keyboards that people had like Samsung and lg were under trash. So the all touch keyboard that was on here was perfect, still had the swipe flick typing on all that good stuff, and it was really accurate, and it carried over from blackberry, 10. , so blackberry, 10 started same keyboard brought it over here and with this 5.5-inch screen, it was just pretty magical whenever it came to the overall typing experience, especially in android not having a physical keyboard, and if you were going to trade off from having a physical keyboard to an all touch screen. You would hope that blackberry would have a good typing experience to help shore that up and to give you an enjoyable experience, and they really did so.

I don't think they got enough credit for that, but the keyboard experience was perfect, and I'm glad that they brought that over and didn't try and reinvent the wheel. The blackberry 10 touch keyboards was great. It was good on the z10, it was great on the z30, and it's perfect on the motion as well so talked about. The fingerprint sensor talked about the screen talked about the convenience. Key talked about the software keyboard on here.

Being the fourth thing that I really liked about this phone- and the last thing that I want to talk about that- I liked about this phone is the ergonomics. I really like the way that this phone was built. The way that it looked. I like that they did this kind of crossover and brought this design over. That looks very much like the carbon fiber glass weave that they had on the z30, except it's more like a zigzag pattern, but it gave it kind of the same.

Look to it and I really like that now. One part of this I didn't care for was this rounded top. It just didn't fit really well at all, and if you got a case and put it on here, because it was so smooth and rounded, the tops of the cases would have a habit of not sealing up properly, or they would slide off kind of easily, so that's kind of contradictory to the rest of the phone but the rest of the phone. I like a lot USB on the bottom. I was glad they didn't have micro, USB headphone jack on the bottom.

It's got a nice boxy squared off appearance on the bottom and the sides very reminiscent of what we're looking at with the iPhone now lightweight, and I felt like it had a pretty solid, build quality and construction to it so other than the rounded part on the top that I never really understood the rest of the phone. I liked a lot. It felt good, it felt premium. It wasn't overly heavy like some other phones, especially for having a four thousand William battery in here. They really packed a lot in here.

In regard to that 32 gigabytes of storage, four gigabytes of ram- you could put a SD card in here, and then it just looked nice and premium like it looks very blackberry-esque for being an all-touch screen device like you could look at this and see some elements in there and look at it and go yeah. I could say that looks like a blackberry and I think that that's really hard to pull off when you have an all-touch screen phone, the z10 really kind of was unremarkable. I didn't really like it aesthetically that much I it kind of felt like a cheap phone to me and I didn't like it too much when it came out. Furthermore, I got it because I really wanted to do blackberry, 10 phones, but I wasn't crazy about it. Furthermore, I really loved the q10 and then when they came out with the z30 like I was in love.

Furthermore, I love the blackberry z30. So much, so I went and signed up for Verizon service and paid the monthly premium for that and along with the phone payment, so that I could get it and use it. It was ridiculous, there's not a lot of phones out in this world. That would compel me to move over to Verizon one, but two to be able to go pay all that money for a phone and switch service. So I could use it because it was a Verizon exclusive when it came out which I really wasn't crazy about, but they captured some of those elements here, and I feel like they did a perfect job like I got to get blackberry mobile, some serious credit when it comes to the design of this phone, because I think they did a good job, and mostly they did a good job with pretty much all of their phones.

It wasn't so much the phones, I mean yes, there were quality assurance issues, they weren't the most powerful in the world. They didn't really get upgraded like they were supposed to. I mean there's, there's a lot of shortcomings like I could make a whole video about why blackberry mobile failed- and I may do that one day just so. We can talk about some of that stuff and maybe draw some insight. Hopefully onward mobility will learn some of those lessons to have a more successful licensing agreement and phone career than TCL and blackberry mobile did.

But when it comes to this phone and so many of the other blackberry mobile phones, I think they did a decent job with the way that they looked so that that was never too much of a problem for me. So the five things that I really liked about this phone, in recap the fingerprint sensor multifunction with the logo on it, the screen that was on it, the convenience, key, the software keyboard and then the overall design. Now those five things, I think were probably the most key things that I really appreciated about this phone. I didn't really appreciate the camera that much it wasn't that great. But overall, I think that it was probably worth what they were charging for it back then, and it still seems to hold up pretty well, I mean you can still do a lot of stuff on here.

It's just as capable as the blackberry key one. The snapdragon 625 is not dead. Android 8.1 still works just fine, a lot better than the old blackberry 10 devices. So if you've got one of these, you can probably still hang on to it for a little while, especially with the new blackberry right around the corner and still not really have any issues like. I can hop on here and I can use Twitter.

I can use lots of things on here and it is still works just fine. So that's all I've got in this video and hopefully, you've enjoyed it. Hopefully, if you're still using your motion, this has been an enjoyable video for you. I get a lot of people that still comment, and they're like. Oh, I'm still watching this video from emotion, I'm still using my motion.

Oh, types from my motion, a lot of people really like this phone that had it and have held on to it. I've had people still ask me where they can find one today, which the only place you're really going to find was on the reseller market. So Amazon, eBay, things like that, maybe swap it one might pop up randomly every once in a while. But overall I still like this phone. So that's all I've got if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them down.

In the comment section, I will get back with you if you enjoy the video please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell if you want updates when new videos come out and as always thanks for being here, I appreciate you watching, and I'll see you guys next time.
