BlackBerry Evolve X: The BlackBerry Mystery

Hey everybody welcome back to tech odyssey, so today, I'm here to talk about a phone that a lot of people probably haven't heard of and if you have heard of it, you probably have never seen one, and you've never been able to find one, and that is the blackberry evolve x. Now I have here in my hand the blackberry evolve, and this was made from a licensing agreement over in India. So back when , mobile's licensing agreement was issued, they issued one to TCL created blackberry mobile. They also issued one to optimum and India, and this that's where to evolve came from, and it was launched on the same day at the same time as the evolved, but whatever happened to it now, that's something I've always kind of wondered about, and I've never really got an answer to. But I want to talk about it here, and you know talk about the evolved a little. I guess, and before we get into that, though I do want to say if this is your first time stopping by the channel.

I appreciate you being here if you enjoy the video please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell if you want updates when new videos come out now, let's talk about to evolve x, so talking about the blackberry evolve and the evolved x, they were launched underneath blackberry through the licensing agreement issued to optimum, came out in august 2018 the evolved, as far as I know, never seen or heard from again- and I was following this a long time ago, because there was also a licensing agreement for Indonesia as well under a different company that produced the aurora, which was kind of a low-spec blackberry phone. Furthermore, I never got my hands on one of those, so to evolve has a snapdragon 450 four gigabytes of ram. You can see there. It's got the fingerprint sensor on the back this nice dimpled texture on the back of it. Overall I mean it's a very nice looking phone android 8.1. It actually has dual 13 megapixel cameras on the back, which are not perfect.

I took pictures with it before, but yeah this one was kind of the scaled down or dubbed down version hardware wise for what the evolve x was supposed to be. The evolve x was basically like an all touchscreen version of the blackberry, key2 snapdragon 660, six gigabytes of ram 12 megapixel camera. Any of this stuff sounds familiar to you guys and I don't really know what happened to it, and I've had people ask before, and whenever I made my review and my video on to evolve, I had tons and tons of questions on the evolve x and yeah. I was intrigued about it myself, because whenever it first came out, I wanted to get my hands on one, because I really like the ke2. I like the hardware.

It's got in it. The snapdragon 660 was very good for that phone. So talking about 2018 and not having a legitimate all-touch screen blackberry for a while other than the motion, I thought it would be really cool to have from my inventory and certainly use it like I. I wasn't overly excited about the snapdragon 450 in this one, but I do like the way this one looks. I think it's a sharp looking phone.

I think that it's made really well so yeah. Furthermore, I would have really loved to have the upgraded version of it and I looked. Furthermore, I looked. Furthermore, I checked Amazon. Furthermore, I checked eBay, I checked all over the place, and you can't find one anywhere, and I think what happened- and this is just my guess at this point- was you know? Maybe they thought that the licensing agreement was not profitable? Maybe they thought there wasn't gonna, be a lot of interest in the phones.

I think that they just pulled the plug on it before it ever hit the streets, and it's kind of weird, because to evolve did hit the streets. I mean it did get pushed out, people bought them, and they were very much geared towards the market in India they do not have the LTE bands or the phone bands that you need to be able to use them elsewhere. Like I put my sim card in it here in the US, and all I could get was 2g and that was spotty hit or miss like it's there, one minute it's gone the next, so they weren't designed to be marketed and sent out around the world. It's not a global unit. They didn't even have a global license.

Their license with optimum was specific for India, so yeah I wish I knew what happened to it. There have been people that have told me over the years' oh yeah, I've seen one I got one before I think. Maybe they might have got that confused with the evolve x, but literally you cannot find these things anywhere. Maybe if I were inside India- and I could go- you know track one of these things down. Maybe I could find one, but I don't know if you've ever seen, one of these things out in the wild, if you know anything about it or if you've seen one in person or something that you know, that would be cool.

I'd like to hear your experience and your story, because I've been very interested in the evolved ever since it came out, and it was very interesting when it got announced on crack berry because it kind of came out of nowhere and a lot of people got kind of excited about it, because it was like hooray, another phone. This is great. We need more phones, so yeah. I don't think that probably it was going to be a bad device. I mean it looks and, as far as I know, runs very similar to this one, except that it had upgraded internals in it, which was very much welcome because the snapdragon 450 in here it just is not cutting it.

Furthermore, I mean the 450 is a very good processor, but for multitasking productivity daily use, yes, you're going to get the battery life with the 4000 ml amp battery and all that great stuff, but the snapdragon 660 and six gigabytes of ram in a phone that looks pretty much just like this. Furthermore, I would have been all over, and I tried to be all over it. Furthermore, I just couldn't find one anywhere. So, as far as I know, they didn't ever really develop anything. They just kind of let the licensing agreement go stale after the initial launch of these phones- and you know there was some excitement that people I think were generally interested in it, and there was a lot of wide-reaching appeal for the phone.

So I don't know what happened with optimum or what happened with the device once they launched it and announced it, because it's really weird. How often do you ever see a company that launches a phone, and then it never actually hits the street for people to buy it, but they did release you know the regular evolved, so maybe in certain areas, maybe they put out a few of them. I mean there has to be one somewhere. I don't know if there is, I mean I'd love to get my hands on it and test it out and add it to my collection. But at this point, like I said I looked around, I looked around back then I have never heard or seen of one of these things on a store shelf or where you can buy.

One anyway, but I don't have access, and I'm not privy to everything, but you would think that in the wide world of the internet, you would be able to find something like this. If it existed so yeah, that's all I've got on this video, maybe you've, seen or heard of them before. If you haven't, you know, I know this is a particularly intriguing topic for a lot of people, because it's like the ghost blackberry that nobody can track down anywhere and yeah. I mean I thought it was a good discussion piece, and I was thinking about it. The other day, I'm like yo what happened to this phone and or just tell you guys about it, because a lot of people don't know that the phone was actually made and a lot of people don't know that there was a second licensing agreement or even a third one that blackberry entered into, and this one specifically was international with optimum for India, either way uh yeah this one right here, to evolve the x very similar.

I'm I'm glad I got my hands on this one and surprisingly, the one on to evolve is the most popular video I've ever made. It was never intended to be that way. So I don't know crazy things have happened. Maybe I can track one down someday and put a video together. I don't know, I don't know if I'll ever be able to get my hands on one, it's kind of like the bronze blackberry classic.

That was supposed to come out and never hit the streets. Funny things happen with blackberry and sometimes devices get announced and shown off and then disappear apparently, but that would be another one. I always wanted to get my hands on the bronze classic. I had the blue one. Furthermore, I wish I never got rid of it, but I did I had the white classic, even so yeah there are just some neat phones out there that maybe people don't know about, but I wanted to make this video to go ahead and talk about it and discuss to evolve and the evolved a little, but I think it would have been a great phone if it got launched and pushed out, so people could use it.

No doubt people would still be using it because people like the key too so much if you could get an all-touch screen version of that phone without a physical keyboard and have this nice 1080p 5.99 inch display. I think would have worked out well. So that's all I've got in this video. If you have any questions or comments, or you've got any personal experience. You've seen one of these things in the wild, or you were just wondering what happened to it yourself.

Please sound off in the comments and if you enjoyed the video as always, please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell. If you want updates, when new videos come out and as always thanks for being here, I appreciate you watching, and I'll see you guys next time.
