Apple Watch Series 4 LTE vs Samsung Galaxy Watch Active

What's up YouTube Jeff back again today, I'm super excited I'm, bringing you guys a comparison of the brand new Samsung Galaxy watch active with the Apple Watch Series. For now before we get started with the comparison, I do want to acknowledge, there's a huge price disparity between these devices. Obviously the Samsung Galaxy watch active starts at $1.99, while the Apple Watch Series floor begins at 399 for the Wi-Fi model, and you've got all kinds of configurations going up to around $1000 now. The main thing I do want to talk about, though, is that these do have a lot of features in common, like Fitness notifications, all of that kind of cool stuff, and they also have their own unique aesthetic. So, let's keep in mind the price value considerations as we go along now. The first thing I want to talk about is the size and obviously the aesthetic of the two devices.

Clearly the Galaxy watch active has a completely round bezel, while the Apple Watch does have that sort of rounded square on the front. Maybe you call that a squirrel if you want, you can also see there's, obviously quite a large difference between them. The Galaxy watch active only comes in one size, and it does take the 20 millimeter standard band, so you can swap out any bands that you want, whereas this is the 44 millimeter version of the Apple Watch now there's a smaller version of the Apple Watch. That obviously is going to be a little closer to the Galaxy watch active, but I did compare my galaxy watch active to the smaller Apple Watch inside of Best Buy in the Apple Store and the galaxy watch active is still quite a bit. Smaller I showed this on my wrist in some previous videos.

If you're a guy, and you have a large wrist, this watch does look kind of small. In my opinion, it looks way too small for my wrist, not something I'll, probably continue wearing after the review period. Just because of the size. The Apple Watch Series for in terms of the size does look a lot nicer, a lot more substantial on my wrist, as you guys can see right there. What it sort of looks like on so obviously, if you're into the size consideration as a guy I might prefer the larger Apple Watch and there's no size that you can choose, and the galaxy watch active now in terms of the build.

The Apple Watch obviously made of a little more premium materials, but that's because of the price in terms of the feel on the actual they both feel fantastic. They have very similar silicone bands. These actually feel very, very similar in sort of their material and make up a very nice feel. Both of them are very light as well. The Apple Watch is a little heavier, but you're not going to notice it too much on your wrist, and actually I like a few extra sorts of grams of heaviness.

When I'm wearing my watch again, the ladies probably feel a little different if you're a guy with a small wrist, you might also prefer the Galaxy watch active both of them, though very comfortable to wear it really just comes down to which size you want and, of course, that's a consideration that each person has to make on a case-by-case basis, so asides from the aesthetic and overall look. There are a couple of things to talk about in terms of fitness. Obviously, the galaxies you want active is made for fitness sort of applications. If you slide over here, you've got lots of options in terms of fitness, keep track of your calories. Your steps of course, floors all that sort of stuff.

You've got tons of different sports that you can keep track of, there's some that are just there and then there's so many more I think up to 39. The Apple Watch Series floor also has similar considerations. They both have this sort of breathing apps that help you with your breathing, which is nice. You can see there. The Apple Watch activity rings here, which I have there at the bottom.

There are a couple of extra unique features to the galaxy watch active and the Apple Watch Series, for you do have the electric cardiogram on the Apple Watch, which is very fancy. Of course. That's something you're getting for that extra cost. You do, of course, have heart rate monitor on both of them, which is very nice. The Galaxy watch active also has a blood pressure monitoring feature which hasn't rolled out yet, so I haven't been able to test it fully that should be coming in a software update.

Samsung talks a little about it at their event and the blood pressure monitoring feature should be something interesting to try out very, very similar overall to the Apple Watch in terms of fitness and sort of health tracking. So if you're interested in health tracking alone- and that's really your only sort of thing that you're interested in for a Smartwatch I think they're pretty much equal and because the Galaxy watch active is quite a bit cheaper I might go that direction if I was only interested in fitness tracking. Unless you want the heart rate, monitoring, of course, because the Apple Watch Series 4- is the only way to get that the next thing they're talking about is the battery life. Of course, battery life is always very important when using any Smartwatch. The Apple Watch actually has a little larger battery.

But if you look at the websites for the two different companies, the Apple Watch is only rated for I. Think 18 to 20 hours of use, I get quite a bit more than that. To be honest with you, the Apple Watch is one of the better battery life watches I've, had in a long time. I've used this, since it came out, as my daily driver I usually get about two days of average use. I use it obviously, during the day, a lot when I'm at work and then at home at night, I, usually take it off or just you know, use it sparingly I'm using it a lot during the day for notifications, email things like that, but two days of use is very good in my opinion and that's sort of a standard use case.

Furthermore, I also don't use the LTE that often only when I'm away from my desk, so I really kind of use this, even though it is the LT model, just like sort of a Wi-Fi sort of enabled watch the galaxy watch active has a smaller battery, but I've also got an amazing battery life out of this device. You can see I'm using an all-black watch face for the most part, with just this white text, which does do a little of battery savings, of course, and I just have it on the sort of race to wake functionality. The standard functionality when I'm using it daily I, still get about two days of use, maybe slightly less than the Apple Watch I feel a little more comfortable with the Apple Watch. At the end of the second day that I know, I'm not going to have to charge, but one of the nice features of the galaxy watch active is that you can charge it wirelessly and if you do have a galaxy s, 9 or s, 9 plus, you can use the power share, feature on the back of the device and just rest, your watch on the back of your phone, and it will charge it up. Of course, you can also use any other wireless charger, or you can use the wireless charging station that Samsung uses.

You do not have wireless charging here on the Apple Watch, so you're going to have to charge it with the included dock that is kind of annoying, and it's certainly something that we need to see sort of come to the Apple Watch in the future. You're not gonna, have sort of a wireless charging standard. We are waiting for air power to come out, and then you'll be able to charge it using that mat if it ever actually does arrive. So a battery life, not a huge difference between the two I'd say the Apple Watch wins lightly, but the versatility in charging options of the Galaxy watch active definitely make it an appealing choice as well. The next thing, aside from the aesthetics and the fitness and battery life, the last thing is really apps.

When I talked about last time, I talked about app availability and all those sorts of things when I compared the Apple Watch to the gear s3 frontier one thing I talked about is just how many more apps are available on the Apple Watch platform watch OS versus the Samsung Ti zen platform. In my opinion, in terms of quality apps, that is still true, the Apple Watch has more apps that I would use on a daily basis that sort of run in a really functional way. Now you've got a lot of things like Spotify and Uber that work on both of them, but things like my banking app from fidelity pocket cast dark sky, which is the weather app that I use lots of things that I use next. If this, then that they all have really nice apps that work natively with watch us that are faster than they aren't on Ti zen, in my opinion, also a little better integrated as well, and a lot of bigger names for sort of fitness apps that are integrated right with the Apple Watch and watch OS. Now, it's not to say that aren't a lot of apps in the Samsung store, but in terms of big names, you're going to see more in the watch OS platform, one of my favorite apps for the galaxy watch active that I found actually on Ti zen platform in general is power.

Point controller which allows you to use your watch sort of as a little of a controller to go backwards and forwards and slides. They also have a similar app on the Apple Watch as well, just a cool one that I wanted to share with you guys, so I think in terms of overall app compatibility. If apps and notifications are your main sort of thing, I think the Apple Watch does that a little better, although if you're really not looking for the big name, fitness apps, and you don't need to have literally everything. That's on your phone running natively on your watch, the galaxy watch active also gets the job done and remember. It is a lot cheaper at $200.

The final thing here is the display. The display on these two devices are both fantastic horse', Samsung, Super, AMOLED I would say this kind of very close to a tie. I do think the Apple Watch gets a little brighter in direct sunlight here in Arizona, just using on a day-to-day basis and checking it out, but both of them are very clear. I, just don't like the smaller display on the Galaxy watch active and for that reason, I probably wouldn't be able to use it as a daily driver, but, like I, said for women and guys with smaller wrists, this might be the watch to get anyway guys. That is a full overview.

Comparison of the galaxy watch active the Apple Watch Series for I. Think Samsung did an amazed job with this watch at 200 bucks for those of you who have smaller wrists, who really want to watch. That does fitness, and you want it at a good price. It is a great alternative to the Apple Watch. If you don't want to spend 400 plus dollars and also if you want to get all that fitness tracking stuff and that's your main consideration- hope you guys enjoyed.
