Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus unboxing

Hey everybody: this is Steven shank with phone arena. If you are any kind of smartphone fan, you know that we are smack dab in the middle of new iPhone season right now and today, I guess got a very special delivery: the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8, plus now this year's a little unusual for new Apple hardware launches. So we also have a third model: the iPhone 10, the iPhone X, coming out in a few more weeks. It's not ready for us just yet, and while we are super excited to get our hands on that, there's no reason to wait for that phone to come out to get excited about Apple hardware, because we have two fantastic phones right here, and today we're going to bring you a quick unboxing of both of them to give you a little preview before our full review lands for both of them. Let's take a quick look at the packaging here. This is like really familiar if you're at all familiar with Apple phones, 64 gigabytes, new base storage level this year and I wanted to bring you two different colors, so to show off a variety.

This year, we only do have three color options for both of these phones. There's no rose gold, no jet black, although if you bought a jet black and saw how easily that's scratched up, maybe that's for the best, so fortunately I booked these in the same color, so I can't show you the variety but still I. Imagine it's gonna. Look super-duper. Nice! Get that protective plastic off, let's dive into the smaller iPhone 8 first, by covering both these phones, so you guys hold on for a second.

If you want to see the plus the designed by Apple in California- and we have our standard introductory guides here- telling you about the hardware giving you a sim tool to get access and you have to love the Apple stickers show your pride put them on your laptop. Whatever you want. Okay, this is I have actually exactly the same with the iPhone 8, plus those two put it off to the side now because yeah. This is what I want to see that new hardware. Now this is fascinating.

You look at this. The raw tech specs you wouldn't be are you'd, be forgiven for thinking the iPhone 8 is just pretty much the same design as the iPhone 7 and yeah it's about the same size. In fact, why don't I? Well, first I got a peel off this protective I like a new glass back. That is Purdy, say this is the phone and silver. But you know it looks whiter than want the white option and say Space Gray is your darker shade, that's basically black white black and gold, or your iPhone color options and a nice metallic edge around the side.

There again, its design looks really familiar if you've been carrying an iPhone recently, but there's new glass back. It's a big change, so I'm going to lean down here, pull out I. Have my black iPhone 7. That's a design largely the same that iPhone word on the back. There is a little bigger on the new one.

Is that the branding stands out a little more and the Apple a reflected Apple logo. There looks a little different, but these are basically the same shape and size. The iPhone 8 is slightly bigger. Slightly wider slightly taller, it's a bit heavier than probably the most abstention change, but really this hardware is a design wise, not making too many departures, except this back. Of course, we had a metal unibody on the iPhone 7.

Now this glass back in the iPhone 8 to support wireless charging, which I might take a little quick look at a little later, I'm power, this guy on I, think and start getting into the iPhone 8, plus just to move this thing along. We have a lot of hardware to look at so well. That's booting up, let's check out the iPhone 8 plus get in same sort, a Quick, Start, Guide same sim tool and stickers. Bigger stickers, though who's a bigger phone makes sense, kill you, oh! This is exactly what we should expect. Having seen me, the smaller iPhone eight a second ago, and I get them get my iPhone 7 plus here like it in black that sorry I, don't think use that color options to match here.

To show you a real comparison between the two little difference. Are you have the metallic ring around via the dual 12 megapixel cameras there again, the iPhone logo looking a little bigger in the back there of the word and shiny now, but otherwise the layout of the phone pretty much the same. The weight difference is a little more pronounced on the plus than it is on the irregular iPhone 8. But again these if you're a comfortable carrying around last gen, the last year's model phone- you are not gonna, have any issues with this new one. Let's power this guy up as well, and actually I'm going to go into the software of these remove both of them arriving with iOS 11th.

You probably already started upgrading to it's gonna here man mistake of putting the phone of this box here and this little plastic tab anymore, something to dump everything out just to get to it, but see the rest of the hardware very similar here in both these have our charger, nothing surprising there do you guys in the middle I, have our ear pods, which are now lightning. Only Apple is not moving backwards with this move away from analog headphones, but again we did not expect the company to and our USB Lightning charging cable. Both these models now do support. Of course, wireless charging- you probably familiar with you- support fast charging as well. It's not gonna work with this adapter out of the box.

If you do have one of Apple's USB type-c adapters or a USB NFC adapter, with the wattage to power it plug it in with your lightning cable and the phones will charge quicker than normal. We're going to run that through and the full review. Looking exactly what to expect from that. That's all we have for the hardware in both these guys. So let's take a quick look at I/o s11 here, okay, we've got iOS setup on both these devices now entered in our Wi-Fi password setup or Apple ID.

So we're ready to go and start looking around iOS 11 again very familiar, but there are a lot of little changes like a nuke all center here with customizable options, something a little of adjusting to get used to, but it looks like very powerful way to play around with phone settings. This is also new, true tone. In fact, I stopped this with the iPhone 8 plus during the setup process. In order to show you that there's a little dim here, I haven't able to set the brightness yet, but you can see it back and forth here with them without true tone. So this we first saw pop-up with the iPad Pro allowing the phone to match color temperature to its ambient light environment.

You can see it's going from a warmer to a little cooler when I turn off the true tone here. Just to make your display look a little more consistent across different environments and let's see we will customize actually get started. I love a nice firm home button, click, yeah, and you're. Seeing the end of the setup process. Here after we've entered in all the private data yeah and again, you control center, all that good stuff on the iPhone, 8 plus, as well, so you're talking about the hardware here, both these phones running Apple's, new, an 11 fusion or no sorry, an 11 bionic I am gonna, take a while to get used to that.

The new 64-bit chip with its Morrell engine and all that good stuff. Camera hardware sounds very similar to last year, if you're, just looking at the specs 12 megapixel shooters same sort of stabilization and same sort of aperture options as before, but the hardware inside is all new. We have a larger sensor, better low-light sensitivity, larger pixels. All in all, it should leave deliver an improved imaging experience. So we're really curious to see what things look like, especially on the 8 plus with its dual 12 megapixel sensors.

There again, this is something we're recovering in depth or a full review of both these phones. One thing I wanted to show you here. This is new to Apple this year. Ok, so see wireless charging support now any QI compatible wireless charger should work with this. Just pop the phone down and instantly there see it's charging no wires neat.

Of course, you can pick up an official Apple charger if you so like, and that reminds me and while I have both these phones out now, this you're not going to get with the phone itself, but there plenty of accessories available, and I grabbed a couple here. There goes my sim tool, apples, official leather case and silicone case for the eight and eight plus I, really like this minimalist packaging. For the silicone case, it's going to peel. This back, that's got a nice feel to it. Kind of textured cloth inside keep the phone nice and safe I'm, not going to struggle to pop this on here and embarrass myself on camera, but I will be bringing you a full view of this, as well as the leather case figure out for the smaller iPhone eight.

How do you open here, you're gonna, slide out or what man for as easy as that last one was to open. Apple is not winning any points for me here. There we go okay, it's like a little elbow grease last night, so I got the blue I, don't know why I went with blue instead of a neutral Channel, but I kind of like it. That's gonna, look really nice on there protect via the glass back. You know little dimples there for the volume rocker power button and that same sort of felt interior.

It's really cool yeah, I'm you're, ruining both of these cases separately start things off with the iPhone 8 itself. Look for that and days to come, follow by the iPhone, eight plus and those accessories for now. Thank you for watching this unboxing of Apple's new iPhone 8 lineup I'm Stephen check with phone arena and check back soon for the rest of my reviews.
