Pixel 5 vs Pixel 4a (5G) vs Pixel 4a - Speed Test Comparison By Chigz Tech Reviews

What's up guys high here from high tech reviews. So today I bring you a head-to-head triple comparison between the latest 2020 Google Pixel smartphones. So we have the pixel 5 5g versus the Pixel 4a 5g and the Pixel 4a. So let's talk about the physical differences. Now the pixel 5 is made from an aluminum body and the other two are made from polycarbonate and all three have this special soft touch, coating, which I admit, feels very nice now, looking at the screens, the pixel 5a is six inches, the Pixel 4a 5g is 6.2 inches and the Pixel 4a is 5.8 inches. Now all three devices are OLED: full HD plus same resolutions 1080 by 2340, and they all support HDR.

Now both Pixel 4a models have 60 hertz displays with a hundred thousand to one contrast ratio. However, the pixel 5 has a more advanced 90, hertz refresh and a 1 million to 1 contrast ratio now for protection. Pixel 5 will give you gorilla glass, 6 on the front and a complete ip68 water resistance, and both Pixel 4a's have gorilla glass 3 with no IP protection at all. Now the arrangements of the ports and buttons are the same. So at the bottom you have a single speaker, USB type-c charging, port and a microphone and on the side we have our volume, rocker and power buttons again in the same position.

Now at the top of the smartphone, you will find some differences, so the pixel 4as both have a headphone jack and the pixel 5 does not. And if you look carefully, you will notice that there is no front speaker grille on the pixel 5 and on the other side, you will find your sim card trays in the same position. Now none of these pixels come with micro, SD expansion, but all three do have stereo speakers, so that was a taste of the stereo speakers and do let me know in the comments which one you thought sounded better. So, apart from the sound quality, the pixel 4as also come with the audio jacks and, of course the pixel 5 has no audio jack, so that was the physical differences. Now, let's talk about the specs.

Now we have Qualcomm's snapdragon chips powering all three of these marvels. Now the pixel 5 and the pixel 4 a5g have the same snapdragon 765 outscore chips clocked at 2.4, gigahertz and supported by the arena 620. However, the Pixel 4a is powered by the snapdragon 730 g, which is also an OCTA core, but slightly lower clock speeds of 2.2 gigahertz and supported by the arena 618. Now all three pixels come with 128 gigs of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The pixel 5, however, will give you eight gigs of lpddr4 ram and both Pixel 4a models will give you six gigs of lpddr4 ram.

Now. Is there a noticeable difference between them? Speed wise? Now I run the an tutu test at least three times on each device, and I took the fastest result for each so. The pixel 5 scored 274 000, and that was all three times every single time. I'm done a benchmark. I couldn't get higher than 274 on the pixel 5.

The highest score for the pixel 4 a5g was 280 and the highest score for the pixel.4A was 274. So very interesting benchmarks, but that's not all. Let's check out the geek bench scores, and here are the results for geek bench. So we achieved multi scores of 1600 on both 5g models and the Pixel 4a achieved 14.39. So that brings us to our top benchmark chart for smartphones of 2020 ranking smartphones by benchmark performance, and you can see the rankings position, 46, 45 and 42, so the Pixel 4a 5g has achieved the best benchmark performance, and I'm sure you guys have heard the statement.

Benchmarks aren't everything. So how do these perform in real time use well to be totally honest with you, they perform nearly the same. You will not see a noticeable performance difference from any of these three models. Now you can pick up any of these pixels and play games like PUBG mobile on medium to high graphic settings and all three pixels perform equally well, and I guess there's no harm throwing in a quick speed test. So, first, I'm going to make sure we close all the background apps.

So all background. Apps are closed. We're going to do a quick speed test, so I'm going to try and open up YouTube at the same time on all three devices, and we'll see which one opens up quicker. So here we go one two three: I got it, so now we're going to try and play back some video. Here we go 6.5 hours of battery life from each earbud, let's open the play store at the same time. One two three go: what do you think? So? Let's try opening up a big game at the same time, so Call of Duty mobile.

Here we go one two, three, let's see which one can get to the loading screen. First, what do you guys think that looked pretty even to me web browser? So do so? Okay, so general performance seems the same opening apps, closing apps the benchmarks. Everything points to having a very similar performance in all three models. Now, moving on to the cameras, the pixel 5 and the 4a 5g both have dual cameras and the Pixel 4a has a single camera setup. So all three smartphones do have the same: 12.2 megapixel primary sensor, but the pixel 5 and the 4a 5g also come with 16 megapixel ultrawide sensors and they both can shoot a maximum of 4k at 60 frames per second, whereas the Pixel 4a has a single sensor and can shoot a maximum of 4k at 30 frames per second, the subject will be the pixel 5 box same test with the 4a 5g and last one is the Pixel 4a you'll also see the results of that test up on the screen right now, a simple point and shoot in a kind of low light situation. Now I would be going into more details of the cameras and the new camera features in a separate video.

Now all three pixels support NFC with Google Pay. Now, if we talk about the OS, you have arguably the best version of android. You can currently buy both 5g smartphones come pre-installed with android 11 and the Pixel 4a has now received the update for android 11, so they're all running the latest android 11. , so that was the physical and the specs compared so which one would you go for well, well, I have personally been using the Pixel 4a as my daily driver, and I have to say I absolutely love it. I am not missing the fast processes.

I can do all my regular stuff, and this plays Call of Duty very well, and I can take some amazing photos. That is, I guess, all you need from a smartphone. So the first thing to consider is what screen size do you want, then ask yourself: do you need 5g now for me personally to answer that question? I'm not bothered about 5g, because I'm just about getting 4g in my area, but it might be nice in the future performance wise as I've shown you they are more or less the same. It's actually hard to tell apart noticeably, they give you the same performance benchmarks, prove the same very similar benchmarks and in real-time use playing games. Uh general browsing all three feel the same to me.

Now, cameras are important and, having used the Pixel 4a for a while, I think I would really enjoy an ultra-wide lens on a pixel and yes, there are new software-based features introduced mainly in the camera department and some very interesting 5g features brought to the table. I will save the new features for a future video, as I do want to spend a little more time testing it. Now there is no 1 000 option here. This is very straightforward. Is it worth paying a hundred extra for the pixel 5 over the pixel 4 a5g, for example? Well, the pixel 5 is definitely stronger, more durable, build quality, and you get ip68 certification.

You have a smoother 90 hertz display, with 1 million to 1 contrast ratios, and you also get slightly more ram and the most wanted wide-angle sensor and the biggest battery size from the three along with triple microphones wireless reverse charging, but they took away the headphone jack now the other two Pixel 4a's are nearly the same, build quality wise, so both plastic build with no IP rating that the Pixel 4a 5g has a much bigger display, but you are getting the same screen tech, so 60hz display OLED, full HD, plus same ram and same internal storage, but the Pixel 4a 5g has a bigger battery, which is 3885 William hours versus 3140 William hours, so no wireless charging in either, but both 4a's do come with a headphone jack. Now here's my two pence. It does not matter which one you pick up from these three you're going to be impressed with the value aspect, the amount of features combined into each device. It's simply super bang for your buck. In my personal experience and opinion, the Google camera software and image processing seems to be constantly ahead of the competition.

So google has really thought about the people 599 for the pixel.5 is what I call very fair pricing throughout the year. I don't stick to one smartphone, as you guys must be aware. I have to test a lot of devices, so my daily driver changes constantly I've been using a mid-range device, the Pixel 4a, as my daily driver for over a month, and I have to say I am very impressed with this smartphone now I hope you found this comparison useful.
