Xiaomi Redmi 9A - Their Cheapest Phone! Unboxing And Review

Hello guys what is going on, so today I have something pretty interesting. This is the new phone from Xiaomi, the Redmi 9a, which is a budget version of the Redmi nine, but the specs we have are pretty promising. Oh, this is a lower end phone, so we only have two gigs of ram 32, gigs of storage and a MediaTek hello g25. So you know MediaTek's g series. This is a pretty good chip series. We also have a 5 000 William hour battery okay, so we have a nice little presentation ignore all the Hebrew stuff.

This is from the official importer of Israel, so everything here is stock and original, and everything here are some of the specs I just mentioned. Of course the back is plastic, but it feels like a good kind of plastic somewhere in the middle feels good in the hand feels nice and large it's this context, but it does feel good, which is surprising here we have our sim ejector tool, charging brake, cable, all the usual stuff. It is micro USB, but for this price range you really can't complain, which is your know, between 100 and 150. You can pick up this phone depending on where you live, no pre-installed screen protector or case it sucks, but it's not the end of the world. Oh, let's power it on okay.

The screen is a bit dim, but this does come with me y12, which is surprising so far. At least the top bezel is non-existent. We have that tiny little uh teardrop notch, which isn't that intrusive, but- and we do have a tiny bit of a chin which is perfectly acceptable for the price range. So I'm going to set this up and get back to you, okay, so the phone is all set up. Let's go to the control panel here.

What doesn't resemble iOS at all and the display looks pretty nice? This is only a 720p display, but it's nice and clear. If someone had to ask me, then I would say this looks like its full HD, okay yeah. That is pretty slow. Look at that. So first impressions, the phone isn't bad.

It is pretty slow right now, not going to lie we're gonna, try going to the play, store and okay that wasn't that bad. We only have two gigs of ram, so you should expect this kind of speed, we're gonna, try, free games, knife, fit wind, rider and pub g, because I'm really curious to see how pub g is. Going to handle. Okay, yeah. This phone is not the fastest.

I did find gestures, though so you know we have gestures and that's pretty nice, there's no fingerprint sensor, as you can see nothing on the back and there's not going to be a display one either, because this is an LCD which isn't possible. So what we're going to do is we're going to figure this out face. Okay, we have faced unlock we're going to set this up, but you know, since you know, everyone's wearing a mask, fingerprint unlock would have been nice because we've seen fingerprint sensors for less than a hundred dollars. So I don't know why Xiaomi didn't do it just to save money. I guess I should let you guys know that the phone is getting pretty warm.

Okay, I this is how the setup looks like I have to bring the phone close to my face so hold on a second all right there. We go anyway, stay on lock screen. Just like Samsung did so notification details only after verifying face data. This is nice. We're going to turn this on.

I love face and knock when screen nights up. Okay. This is also useful. Now we're going to try it. Oh, it worked.

It was pretty slow, yeah, it's pretty slow, but I'm guessing it's because the phone is so far away. Oh, what was that I'm going to try to close up and tell you if it's the same, it's a bit faster. When I do it close up, see it even feels. Sometimes it the guy nodded. Okay, that's pretty cute, so the fist knock.

Isn't that good and I expect it will. It won't be reliable at all when it comes to different circumstances, but anyway, that's right knife, it okay, it is lagging yeah! That's that is lagging. That is. This is bad yeah unplayable. What if we just disable that disable add see if it's the same thing? Okay, it's lagging still, it's like a bit less, but still so right.

Now, it's not! But as soon as I start tapping it as frame rate drops instantly, which is not something you want in a game like this, try this one more time. Okay, that's a bit better! Now it's actually playable, but it's still, you know, there's still frame drops which is yeah like that. So yeah. This phone is not good for gaming. So, as you can see as soon as I disabled ads, which, by the way you have to pay for it, the performance was way better.

But even then we still saw some frame rate drops. So we're going to try wind right or now see if it's the same thing yeah it's lagging. I mean it's not lagging, but it's not performing like. I thought it would. Yes, I mean I guess it's playable, but yeah.

It's not that enjoyable because of the performance we're going to try this one more time see what we can get all right same thing, more or less yeah. I mean it's playable if you're patient, but it's its lagging. It's not performing that well, and before you write in the comments. Oh, what do you expect for a hundred dollars and all that just keep in mind? I've reviewed phones that are cheaper and enough. There was no there are no problems with the game whatsoever.

We got this game nags, so I guess one of the places show me cut down on this phone was the performance in games? So if you want to get this for your kid, so you can play all his games on it. He's not gonna really enjoy it all that much unless it's like really low quality games watch out. Okay, that's that's pretty laggy, although yeah it keeps freezing every. Second, let's try to see what, if we lower the graphics frame rate medium, all right, the graphics are pretty much at the lowest already. Okay.

Now it's actually running pretty good, okay, actually, not too bad. I guess we're going to jump from this plane and play a bit more to see if there's any frame rate drops whatsoever, because it's kind of strange to me that this game is running perfectly well, not perfectly but not lagging while two other light games. It was just unplayable all right here. We are in the actual game, and you know what it's actually not too bad. I need a helmet.

Oh, I ran out of ammo oops. Well, I guess I wasted it out, but I can't believe you guys get the point. Okay. Well, these are interesting results. PUBG seems to run fine while two other light games run fine, but not in optimal playing conditions, because these tiny little stutters they may not seem like a big deal.

But when playing games like this, where you need absolute 100 precision, then these stutters can be a nightmare, but probably no. It started too, but not that much, so I mean if you want to get this phone for gaming. I guess you could, but I'm going to have to expect the game to stutter most of the time and to play at the lowest graphics. Okay, so the speaker isn't bad at all. It's maybe it's a tiny bit quiet, but there's no distortion.

The quality is decent and the speaker's just way better than all the other cheap phones that I reviewed, because I mean Xiaomi, you can see they actually put some thought into the speaker and into the media consumption overall, because we also have a headphone jack. So when Xiaomi was making this phone, they put in mind the fact that people are going to want to view all sorts of media on this so kudos to me. Alright, so the rear facing camera is 13, megapixels even says so over here. Well, for a plastic phone, it sure is getting a lot of fingerprints and smudges and all that, let's look at that pretty ugly. Now we have hers, let's put down HDR a which is automatic, I'm assuming picture quality high.

Okay, all right, let's go outside this is rear facing video on the Redmi 9a, and it looks pretty bad. I have to admit like at least from where I'm looking on the at the viewfinder um. This is supposed to be full HD, 30 frames per second, and you know it's not looking that good. Not even the autofocus is good, but from a Xiaomi phone, even their budget, even their like extremely budget options. You should expect better because, right now, it's not so good front facing video on the Redmi 9a.

Also full HD looks slightly better, but it's more or less the same for more I'm looking the detail, it just there's not much detail or contrast just walking around here. That's pretty much all I got to say about the camera. I just looked at the photos on the phone itself, and they look great for the price that you're paying the video and not so much, not that good, especially the rear facing video for some reason it's worse than the front-facing video, which is a common trend amongst these cheap Chinese phones, except this is a one known brand. This is Xiaomi, so yeah pictures are great. Okay, guys that is pretty much it.

I've tested all the basic functions of the phone, so now comes the question: is it worth it now, whether it's worth it or not? You know it's kind of complicated. I mean to me personally. No, it's not worth it. I don't like the phone because it's slow, it doesn't perform well in games and for me to like a phone, it has to have four great things. It has to have great battery life, great display great speakers and great performance.

The phone lacks in the speaker, department and the performance department. You want to use a phone, that's fast and responsive like OnePlus or Samsung, so I'm going to do a quick speed test. As you can see, okay, that's actually performing a bit better than when I first set it up, but you know it still takes time to load abs, but you know just for a hundred dollars. It's perfectly fine! So if you want a cheap phone from a trustworthy brand, then this is definitely the phone for you. But if you want to take your chances with something like a humidity, that's less known, but in return you're getting a phone with greater space you're, getting four gigs of ram set of two 128 or 64 instead of 32 gigs and a better chipset as well, the only problem is they're less known.

So if it gets a problem, you're not going to have much support for it. But Xiaomi. You know it's a huge community. Almost every country can fix it if it has a problem with a screen, break, etc. , and you're going to get the updates for years to come, because Xiaomi is good at updating their phones.

Now, let's say you don't have time waiting around buying. You know humidity phone, you know not you don't trust them that much anyway, so you walk into a store, and you see this, and you're like okay show me it's around the same price that I was going to pay for that um digit phone. So if you're in that situation, then I'll say yeah go ahead and pick one up. You're not gonna, be disappointed. It's a good phone, it's just slightly slower than other phones in this price range.

But hey! That's fine! I mean if you buy a phone, that's cheap! You should lower your expectations anyway, another decent phone from Xiaomi. If you're on a budget- and you want something reliable, then this is the good choice. But if you want something that performs better, maybe by the Redmi nine or the note 9. Thank you so much for watching. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below, and I will try to answer them and I will see you in the next review.

Peace.
