What is up guys today, we'll be comparing the lg v40 to the Poco x3 uh. These are two very uh popular phones, uh popular budget phone, and then we have a very popular older flagship phone as well. So let's go ahead and get into it with the price. So do not pick up the lgb40 brand new they're selling them for around 300 bucks on Amazon. I don't know how much they sell them one bay, but um. As you guys know, you can get a v50 brand new for 320 right now, uh.
So I would just get the b50 I wouldn't get. The b40 brand new, the b40, renewed or in the used market is extremely cheap. Around 200 bucks I'll put those links down below the polo, the cheapest. You can find. This is 250 uh brand new.
So 100 would pick this up um, you know renewed or refurbished, because it's just an excellent deal for 200 bucks um. So let's go ahead and get started with the hardware uh. So you know the v40 looks just like the v50 pretty much you just have a raise on the camera bump. I think that's pretty much it um, so yeah the Pogo is definitely a lot heavier and honestly, like I've, said a thousand times. I still think the v40 looks better.
Furthermore, I think this. The design looks better on uh the v40, I'm just not a huge fan of this camera module. I've had this phone for almost a week now and um. You know I'm trying to let it sit in. I let it sit, but the design is just not growing on me and I usually like how Xiaomi phones look.
So I think this might be like the first one, where I wasn't crazy about the design um but yeah. So, let's see the Poco is definitely thicker and a little taller. I have our power button on the v40 power button, which is also the fingerprint scanner on the polo, which is something that I love. The volume rocker over here only be 40 in our Google Assistant button and on the bottom USB stereo speakers on uh, the Pogo x3 3.5 millimeter jack quad deck is on ev40. If you guys don't know, that's high quality audio, very good.
If you have a nice set of uh, you know headphones but yeah, so that is the hardware. Let's go ahead and get into uh the specs a little more all right. So when you turn on both phones, only v40 you're, greeted by poled 6.4 inch hdr10 display it's 1440p 537 for the PPI on the x3. You have an IPS 120 hertz lcd, HDR 10 6.67, inches 1080p, and that is 395 for the PPI. So a little bigger display.
As you can see the difference, you have a notch versus the punch hole. You know I'm more fan of the punch hole than having a notch, even though lg does try to make good use by having an um. You know dual camera setup up there. So it's not just completely. You know just a big notch for no reason um when it comes to display quality.
This is again the same thing as uh with the v50, so you have to make that choice between a 1440p display and a 1080p 120 hertz display, like I said um you know through covering this phone, the benefits are 120 hertz. Everything is silky smooth, so it doesn't matter what you're doing whether you're scrolling, it just is going to look smooth, and it just looks perfect. It makes it the phone feel way faster than you know. It actually is, which is something that a lot of people are going to like the colors look pretty good as well on this IPS display, but overall for quality you're not going to be a 1440p display with such a high PPI um like the v40. Has it just looks uh really great.
The blacks are really deep and uh. Like I said you can take advantage of the always on display with these OLED displays, and if you have a black wallpaper, you can save uh, you know wallpaper, or you can save a battery life and um yeah, it's just nice. So usually everyone prefers. You know an OLED display, but again the 120 hertz is awesome. I'm not going to downplay that, because it is awesome, it is definitely the future of smartphones.
Pretty much. All phones will have some type of high refresh rate in the next. You know two to three years. I don't care if they're budget phones, um so yeah. It is the future, but you have to make that decision on which one you like more all right.
So let's go ahead and talk about these specs a little more. So on my v40, it's a sprint version. I have gotten the android 10 updates on all of my lg phones, except for this one um yeah, so sprint is just really slow with updates. So I would recommend you get like the ATT version or the unlocked version, or something like that. I'm still waiting for sprint to push the update, but b40 is still on android 9.
, it's capable of running android, 10. Uh. We also have the snapdragon 845 arena 630. It's still pretty much a flagship um. You know chip here uh, you do have micro, SD, support, 64, gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of ram on the Poco x3.
We have android 10 with mini 12 out of the fox snapdragon 732g arena 618 micro SD support uh, the same 64 gigs and six gigs of ram, so basically um. The only difference here is going to be processor, speed and really when it comes to gaming, you'll really notice the difference, but let's go ahead and run a little quick speed test here. Let's go ahead and open YouTube. Look almost like a tie right, let's do play, store, v40 got it there, let's go ahead and try see open up a web page open lg. com! Oh, it didn't take me to the webpage on the um uh Pogo.
For some reason: let's try it again. Open apple. Com yeah, just searching it! Oh, well! Now it's not and still the uh v40 here, and it looks like the Poco kind of glitched out. I've been noticing that when I do like a search, it'll glitch up like I have to completely like force, stop it. So that's a little glitch with mini 12, something that I noticed.
I know a lot of people have been saying that they were like glitches with me, UI 12. That is one of them that I've noticed a subway surfer again v40. So, as you guys can see, the snapdragon 845 is still a very fast phone uh. What else do I have on here? Instagram looks like the v40 got it there again, all right, let's go ahead and um try pub g, all right, so we're in and the v40 is on top. Let's go ahead.
Look at the graphics settings for pub PUBG. So you can see the v40 is still a very good gaming phone. So if you really want to do some gaming on here, you can do that. As you can see, we can go HDR ultra frame rates, and we're only limited to HD with high frame rate, so you will get better settings or better performance on the v40 here. Let's go ahead, get into a game and again uh like I've said with um.
You know the other comparisons. There are benefits to gaming at 120 hertz. Everything is just going to be super smooth. If you can find the games that are compatible, I believe they had a few that I played and uh. They do make a difference but yeah as far as like gaming.
Both of these are actually going to be. Very you know great gaming devices, but if you want the know more powerful one out of the bunched, then you'll be going with the um v40 for sure it's just going to be a smoother experience, because you get high frame rates and the graphics are going to look just a little better. But overall, like I said you got to make that decision. Also, the poncho versus the notch. You don't have such a big intrusion on the Poco as well.
Now you only have one speaker on the v40. You have stereo speakers. I expect the Poco to be louder here. So let's go ahead and see one so yeah. The Pogo x3 is definitely louder, but the v40 does have perfect quality to its speaker.
I can actually hear the 808s here now you're just getting a lot of thumps with the x3, but it is louder, but you do have a perfect quality speaker on the b40. So both are you know both sound great, the x3 is louder, but I do really like the quality of the v40 speaker as well. Let's go ahead and talk about some additional features: uh, so with the v40, you do get an IP rating on this phone uh. I believe it's ip68 dust and water resistant, and you also get the fingerprint scanner it's on the back and on the Poco x3 uh, like I said, the fingerprint scanner is on the side and this phone is not what's IP rated, but it's ip53 splash proof, so you can't like actually like if you drop it in a toilet, it's probably going to break uh faster than the v40 would um but yeah. As you guys know.
I really like the fingerprint scanner on the side here. I just think it's really fast it's really the best way to do it. In my opinion, uh the before this is on the back, and it's fine. It works like you would expect it to superfast as well. So most of these physical fingerprint scanners are very fast.
They both have faced unlock as well, which is really nice too. So, let's go ahead and talk about cameras here so uh on the v40. You have a triple camera setup. It's a 12! Megapixel standard 12, megapixel telephoto, a 16 megapixel ultra-wide 4k, 30 or 60fps, with a dual camera setup up front. It's an eight megapixel and five megapixel uh wide that shoots in 1080p uh.
Overall, I've been taking pictures recently with the v40 just to see how they stack up with you know. Just the regular budget smartphones like this and the v40 still does a really great job at taking pictures um, it's really still on par with the lg v50 uh. Honestly, even though I think the v50 is still a little better um but yeah, it's definitely still a very, very good camera. You can also throw Guam on the v40 as well and get even better shots, but I was pretty impressed just with these stock photos on the v40 you get pretty good. Color uh color is very real to life, and you also get a pretty good dynamic range on here alone, with a pretty good depth of field.
Also, overall, I was pretty satisfied with the um video as well, and the mic quality is pretty good. Only the 40 so overall still very good camera uh. So only Poco x3 uh. We have a very good camera set up as well uh. It's a quiet, camera setup, 64, megapixel, wide 13, megapixel, ultra-wide 2 megapixel mega pickle, 2, megapixel macro in a 2 megapixel depth.
You get 4k uh, 30fps and 20 megapixel selfie. Basically, the Poco is going to take more detailed photos than the v40 because of that 64 megapixel lens uh. When I put them on the computer, I can definitely see the difference in detail when you zoom in so, if you're, just really into that. Now I do like how the dynamic range shots come out on the v40 a little more. But if you somebody that likes that you know detail high detailed uh shots, then definitely the Poco is perfect.
The macro camera is okay, but you can really just use this standard lens. It's going to give you the same effect. Uh. The depth sensor is just two megapixels, so it's not doing a ton uh. So it's really the main camera and the ultrawide are very good on the Pogo um, so yeah so two excellent cameras.
It gives off some very good color uh video is pretty solid on the x3 as well. So definitely two great you know cameras. Also. One thing I forgot to mention is that the Pogo x3 has the infrared port, which a lot of people forget a lot of people, don't use it, but if you're somebody that wants to control like a TV or air conditioner with the polo, then it does have that feature along with NFC. Both these phones have NFC as well um.
So let's go ahead and talk about battery life, I'm so battery life is going to be uh much better on the Pogo I'm just going to let you know that off uh the best, so you have a 6 000 William battery on here. You also have 33 watt fast charging, so it charges much faster than the v40. Now you do not have any type of wireless charging uh. So the v40 has a 3 300 William battery 18 watt fast charging with wireless charging, which you guys know if you've never had wireless charging, it's very convenient once you buy a pad and just you know, set your phone down, you don't have to always grab for a charger, but yeah that's very convenient to have um but yeah the Pogo x3 is gonna, kill the v40 in battery life might be 40. I can usually squeeze around seven hours in like 30 minutes of screen on time on the polo, with this phone you're easily getting around nine I've even seen uh tests where you can get around 10 hours of screen on time, but I would say more realistically for a heavy user or just a regular user you're, looking at probably like nine hours of screen on time, uh, which is really great.
So if you need a phone, that's going to really give you that juice. Then the x3 is definitely a great phone. So what do you guys think Pogo x3 versus db40? Let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
