Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra - Using Chinese Import In The UK - Quick Thoughts

Hello and welcome to a new video on the mobile made simple YouTube channel, and today it's just some quick thoughts of the new Xiaomi me 11 ultra, so I have been using this device for just under a week now. So I thought I'd just do a video and give some initial thoughts. So, firstly, this was imported from wondermobile. com. So this is the Chinese version, and it's the 256 gig with 12 gigs of ram. I did go for the ceramic white.

It comes with this clear case in the box, and obviously I'm using it in the UK. So when you do order from wonder mobile, the box is already open when you receive it, but that's because wonder open it, and they load on Google Play Services and the Google Play Store, because obviously this is running the Chinese ROM. So I have changed the set-up a little, so I am using nova launcher on here. The Google feeds working okay. Now there is a couple of issues I've had with the Chinese ROM, so the process with cherry phones is, you have to sign in with a Xiaomi account, and then you plug it into an app on your computer, and then you have to wait seven days for an unlock of the bootloader, so once that's unlocked you can then either flash the official global ROM from Xiaomi themselves or there's like a custom version called Xiaomi EU now that one's based on the Chinese ROM, and it's been out for a lot of charming phones for a while and basically they're baking google services into the system.

All the Chinese apps are removed, there's no Chinese characters anywhere in the system. They remove the adverts from the system apps and there's a few like performance tweaks as well everything's working. So I will be flashing that one but saying that I haven't had many issues with the Chinese ROM to be fair. If you are wondering Google Pay works. Fine, as I said, I have used that the only downside is when I first tried to use it.

I'd queued in a post office tapped it on the reader and then it is was coming up with some Chinese characters and a NFC message. I had no idea what was going on, so I had to ask the clerk if I could just rejoin the queue. Whilst I quickly got on Google, and then I found out actually I'll show you four. If I can find it now, that's one thing: the settings are quite extensive under my UI, and it can be a little difficult to find. I look in NFC yes, so this is it default wallet, so you search for NFC and when you first get this on the Chinese run it defaults to my wallet.

You need to change it to he wallet. Once that's done, Google Pay works. Fine. I've had no issues. All the UK banks.

I've tried to work in I've, ran banjo, styling, nationwide lines, Barclays, etc. Ethics working fine, whether it's sending any data to Chinese servers, I'm not sure, but I haven't got much in there anyway, so that doesn't matter. An issue I have faced is android, auto, currently driving a ford focus when I plug this in it just comes off with like an another USB message, but I cannot seem to get that loaded again. That is something that would work on the Xiaomi you've run, but I'm going to flash it on Tuesday. There was one member that reported on DA.

That is works, but a few other members said it doesn't. So I'm not sure on that one, a couple of other twerks, so the Google News widget for some reason, doesn't open the articles. So I can press the arrows and cycle through, but it won't open unless I first go into the news app in the draw open it up and then once it's open you can then open the article. So I've gone into the settings. I've changed the battery, save I've changed auto start et cetera.

It hasn't made any difference. Hopefully that will work on the EU version. So what do I think of the phone overall? So the charging is great. I did try an OnePlus 9 pro previously, but straight away. It's a nice phone.

I just found that quite boring with this phone. I had the complete opposite once I opened it. Furthermore, I liked it immediately. Furthermore, I've messed with the software, because you've got nova launcher running yeah. The charging speed is fantastic, so I'd say the battery life has been averaged so far, but obviously he's still on early software, probably by late afternoon, I'm on about 40 percent, but I am a very heavy user saying that you literally plug it into the 67 watt charger, and you're back on android in about 20 minutes so faultless, I did buy the charger separate.

I think it was 20 pounds extra with wonder mobile, and they give you the charger and plug. I haven't got the wireless charger yet, but maybe I will try that in the future. The speakers on this are great they're. One of the loudest sounding I've heard the optics on this phone are also very good. I know I read a lot of reviews with the OnePlus where they said the haptics were good, but I do actually think they're better on this one.

One downside is on Amazon, etc. I can't find any perfect cases. Yet so I'm just using this clear one as regards the camera, I haven't taken many photos, but what I have liked is using this display for the selfie camera and, like I showed one of my friends that, and he was really impressed as well, because the detail you get from using this gn2 Samsung sensor for a selfie is brilliant. Hopefully, in a future update, they will add the possibility to do video on it as well, because then it makes the front camera pretty much. You wouldn't use it unless you do it like a video call, because the front camera on this, I think it is only 1080p.

So obviously you do get better quality from the back. It's a very nice feeling phone in the hand and, as I said, even though I'm using Chinese wrong other than the news widget and the odd quirk here, and now I haven't really noticed many downsides: okay, everything's really smooth I've got it on 120 hertz display mode everything's working very well. The data speeds are good, signal's good, so you could theoretically buy this and just leave it on the Chinese ROM. If you don't want to flash it, but there is a global version coming soon, but obviously I'm quite tech confusion, so I was quite eager to buy in and try it out yeah. Hopefully you will get some more cases on Amazon soon, because I know sign, except for make cases for the 11.

So hopefully they will start making them for this one, but I took some earlier. That is one of the downsides. The only case I can find is the free one. That's in the box, yeah overall, it's been a very positive experience. I was using the 12 pro max as a daily driver, but I'm now fully moved to this so yeah.

If you have tried this phone, let me know what you think in the comments. Obviously this isn't a review or anything. It is just my quick thoughts but as I've had it for just under a week, and it's quite a popular phone, I thought I would put some obviously thoughts out there yeah. When there are more cases available, then I will get some and obviously review them on the channel, because I think this will be a popular phone once again. Let me know what you think of the phone in the comments, and thanks for watching.
