XIAOMI Mi 10 Ultra Full Review: The best all-round Xiaomi Phone ever [Transparent Edition]

Hello everyone welcome to gizmo china. This is Kieran. Last week, Xiaomi founder and CEO lee John gave his long speech to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand Xiaomi along with summarizing the past 10 years. The most exciting part should be the release of three new products which are mi10 ultra Redmi k30 ultra and the TV lux transparent TV today we're going to review the mites ultra and give you some ideas on why it's so powerful and important for Xiaomi to remain competitive in this tough market. The mites ultra, in our hand, is a transparent version, which is one of the most special designs among the phones from the transparent cover. We could see the 50 watt wireless charge sensor and NFC sensor.

Otherwise, the internal structure is still covered by some kind of protection, and you would see the text reminding you that it's the 10th anniversary edition compared to me, 10 pro the ultra just makes up for almost all the important absences of top features. You used to complain about the pros display. Now you can have 120 hertz emulate display, with better color presentation on the ultra. You used to complain about the pro's 50 watt. Charging efficiency was not fast enough.

Now you can have up to 120 watt fast charging to give your ultra full charge in just 23 minutes, or you used to praise the pros' camera's performance. Now the ultra's new combination is even better than that. Apart from these improvements, all the great features of the pro have been retained on the ultra, such as the excellent dual stereo speakers and the great performance. But meanwhile we also found an apparent step backwards. The hands-on feeling is not as comfortable as on the mi 10 and pro the weight of 223 grams and the thickness of 9.5 millimeters made it one of those bulky flagships. Otherwise, it's really hard to tell you what really confused us during the few days experience.

Let's look at its improved display, although the ultra's display panel is no longer from the famous supplier Samsung, it still got improved with 10 bits, color, outputs and 120 hertz refresh rate based on the same level of color accuracy. As we observed, the new display applied the same delta arrangement as the 10s display, which is recognized as one of the best pixel arrangements for smartphone display and the ultra did bring us the similar surprise, as we first used the mi 10 to watch HDR videos, but furthermore, the visual enjoyment is also mainly generated by the 120 hertz refresh rate, not just. We need it for better system, fluency and smoother gaming experience, but also we could use it to watch the original 120hz professional videos without image loss well for low frame rate video play. Unfortunately, on the ultra, we did not find any frame interpolation solution as the memo solution that we saw on the OnePlus 8 pro. As for gaming, the game boost is obvious, as the higher refresh rate and higher sampling rate of the display eventually release the CPU's performance and make the most of the snapdragon 865.

Now, let's check out the supercharging efficiency before we move on to other parts, we can't wait to see whether the 120 watt charging efficiency is as powerful as claimed. The included charger is the first one that can achieve over 100 watts charging efficiency as we connected the charging cable. The image of power collection showed a visible charging speed that we've never seen before. It's pretty insane that it only takes around 9 minutes to get half power of the 4 500 milliampere hour battery and the full charge test was finished in 24 minutes and under 120 hertz display mode. We watched videos for two hours and then spent another hour on social media apps as a battery life test.

The ultra eventually had 77 of the power left and then two more hours of gaming and PUBG mobile consumed around another 35 percent of the power. As for its performance, according to the results of running benchmark apps, it's really nothing different from what we got on the mi 10 and pro, and let's move on to the gaming test in PUBG mobile. Although we unlocked the 120 hertz frame rate, the ultra retained at 120 fps for a while and then automatically shifted down to the 60 fps frame rate, it's probably because the phone detected a heating problem and attempted to remain the phone at a more stable state. The average frame rate for PUBG eventually remained at 76.9 fps, which is not an excellent result for phone running snapdragon 865, but it shouldn't be a problem for the altar to run PUBG at stable, 60 hertz, and we still ran simian legends as a stress test. Unfortunately, under the frame rate, locking problem, the average frame rate for the ultra is only at 57.4 hertz. So accordingly, it seems that the ultra did not exactly release the full energy of both the 865 chipset and 120hz display in some games.

The biggest highlight of the ultra should be the new camera combination with 120 times, digital zooming capacity. The combination back and the top one is the telephoto camera featuring 10 times, optical zoom, and up to 120 times, digital zooming with is assistance. The second one is a portrait cam supporting two times optical zooming and the third one is the main camera with customized high sensitization and the last one is 128 degrees. Super wide angle, camera, which probably is the widest angle that we've seen on smartphone cameras. Let's check out their samples, the main camera is one of the best cameras we've experienced it's especially good at reserving rich detail from brightness to the darkness, with super high dynamic range and correct exposure, even compared to 10s 108 megapixel sensor, the ultra's new 48 megapixel sensor also presented decent sharpness and excellent texture.

Meanwhile, the color is also impressive, as we turn on the HDR. A problem for the main camera is the focus detection. In rare cases, the camera was not able to quickly autofocus the close subject or even lose the focus sensibility. The portrait camera is also an important improvement. The both effect is so smooth and natural, and the edge detection of the subject is usually pretty accurate when handling relatively simple background and edges.

Even so, when we took the photos under complicated light conditions, it's still not difficult to find unnatural blurring, but it's not really a serious problem. The 128-degree wide angle, camera samples have excellent color presentation with good dynamic range, unlike most android phones, the ultra's wide angle. Camera is much more practical, as it also achieved great sharpness and clarity. A small problem of the wide angle samples is the lens distortion. We are not surprised that the edge distortion may occur to the samples, as they have quite a wide angle view at the same time, but we have to say that, under most conditions, the wide angle, samples and main camera samples could apply the similar white balance to each other.

But sometimes the white balance of the wide angle camera seems not as stable as the main cameras and thanks to the f 2.2 big aperture, the wide-angle camera still performed well under low light conditions and then, let's move to night shooting of the both wide-angle camera and the main camera, no matter which camera the night samples have almost all the great advantages of a night mode that we used to mention in previous reviews. Yes, it has brighter and pure images than the normal mode, but it also neutralized the exposure between brightness and darkness. It reserved rich detail for both to achieve a wider, dynamic range. Meanwhile, the noise control is just perfect, and it can also be ranked as the best type among the night shootings by various smartphones. As for its telephoto camera, although we have to admire Xiaomi's innovation, it's not so useful to develop the 120 times, digital zooming for a smartphone at least not for now.

It's just like a promotional stunt for the 10th anniversary edition, but doesn't show much value to the number 120. However, they turn their advertising focus into the optical 10 times zooming. It would definitely impress users with a great image, clarity and excellent optical stabilization. Besides v10 ultra also reserved the excellent performance of dual stereo speakers. So that's it.

No doubt the mi10 ultra is the best Xiaomi smartphone product in 2020. , with the ultra's release. Xiaomi is trying to deliver a signal that the 10-year-old brand is capable to develop advanced features on all aspects of smartphone products. Indeed, we could feel their ambition on the ultra, which should not be an end of the journey, but more like a new start, and the ambition is not simply about a cost-effective smartphone, either, but more like a key product to open up the whole smart life for human next video. We will go through another Xiaomi 10th anniversary product, the k30 ultra.
