The Galaxy S20 Ultra Is An Emulation Beast! S20 Ultra Emulation Test

Hey guys the CTA Prime back here again today, we're going to be taking a look at the emulation performance of the all-new Samsung Galaxy s 20 ultra now before we get started here, I did purchase this with my own funds. It's very overpriced, coming in at 1,400 dollars and I didn't just buy it for emulation. This was actually the only phone that I could get to the United States as making this video that contains the snapdragon 865, and I've been dying to test it out. I do have a full review coming up on the channel, but right now, I'm, actually really sick, and I didn't feel like doing a review video. So we're going to take a look at some emulation performance, PSP, Dream cast, Gamete, PS2 and 3ds. I can already tell you right now that this is an absolute emulation piece that snapdragon 865 is a really awesome CPU for emulation.

There are other phones on the way with the 865 that are much cheaper, so just hold out a little. You do not need to spend this much on and ass 20 to get this kind of performance, so, like I, said we're going to be testing out some emulators on this thing. I'll film, the screen for some of them, and I'm also going to connect over HDMI, because this does support USB type-c to HDMI, and it even supports DEX mode. So before we get into it. I do want to give you a quick rundown on the basic specs.

So for the CPU we have the snapdragon 865. This is a seven nanometer SOC 1 quart 2.8 4 gigahertz 3 cores at 2.4, 2 and 4 at 1.8. The GPU is the Arduino 650. They offer two variants of the ultra. You can get one with 12 gigs of ram and one with 16.

I have the version with 12 gigs of ram, and I'm going to tell you right now. Both of them run. DDR 5 and you're, not gonna notice, a difference in performance going from 12 to 16 with something like these 12 gigs is already overkilled for a phone. The display is absolutely beautiful. It's a six point.

Nine inch adaptive AMOLED display 120 Hertz, an F, HD mode or 60 Hertz in q, HD mode, but both of them look outstanding and for the battery 5,000 William hour with 45 watt, quick charging. Now there's a lot more to this phone that I'm not gonna, show off here. It does have that 108 megapixel camera 128 to 512, gigabytes of storage, plus a micros card good up to 2 terabytes. Overall. This is definitely a flagship phone and the price does reflect that.

So with all that out of the way, let's go ahead and get right into I'm, just going to plug this into my USB type-c to HDMI. For these first three emulators we'll have n64 Dream cast and PSP. First up, we have Conker's Bad Fur Day for n64 with each one of these games. You're gonna, see tested here. I will have the name of the emulator, the name of the game and if I'm up skip I'm using the move.1064 + FM core here, upscale to 1440 by 1080, and it's running great, and I expect this from the snapdragon 865. Now you can with the snapdragon 835, you can get some perfect performance, but with an older chip like that, I've never been able to upscale to 1440 by 1080 like this.

So basically on this SOC n64 is not an issue. Next up, we have some dream cash using the read dream emulator. This is better live to upscale to 2560 by 1920. It's running it flawlessly. This is one of the harder ones to anyway, especially up stand like this.

Now. The red ream emulator is a very well optimized emulator for Android, and it runs these games pretty well on lower-end chips, so I was expecting it to get perfect performance with the 865 and, as you can see, you're not going to have any issues with Dream cast either. So PSP actually really surprised me here: I was able to upscale Ratchet and Clank to 4x resolution without any hacks on I. Don't have any of the speed hacks on I got the splines set to high, and I'm, using the Vulcan back in now. Ratchet and Clank isn't the hardest one to run, but upscale that does give some of these chips a run for its money.

Overall, it's handling this game perfect at 4x resolution. A lot of you might already know that there were some harder games to emulate like God for Chains of Olympus, but this actually handles it at 3x resolution with no issues. This 865 is really shaping up to be an awesome SOC for emulation, but then again it's very expensive right now, as it says, move it up on the list. A little we have the dolphin emulator running. Some Gamete games got the Vulcan back-end going Soul Caliber ? overall.

This is the best performance I've ever seen out of the dolphin emulator on any Android device that I've ever tested now. I do have a few more Gamete games to run through, but everything ran pretty decently, except for auto mode ELISA, that's just a harder one to run, but it is performing better than the Snapdragon 855 and if you want to run Super Mario Sunshine at full speed on a device with this SOC switch to OpenGL. So there really isn't a good PS2 emulator for Android and I know. Some people are going to disagree with me, but we have daemon PS2 Pro here running Taken 5 the problem with this emulator is it uses so many hacks. It feels like frame skips going on.

So basically, there is no Android device on the market right now, no matter how much it is, that's going to run PS2 at full speed and the last one on the list. We have Ciara MM the 3d emulator for Android. They have been making some strides in the last few months, and they have added controller support, so you can use the Bluetooth controller. I've tested this on the Snapdragon 830 545, 855 and 855 plus. The 865 is definitely where it's at performance here is really great, but it's still not perfect, and it all comes down to the emulator itself, not being optimized.

So as far as emulation goes on the snapdragon 865, this is definitely where it's at. This is an amazing SOC for emulation and just native Android gaming all-in-one, but I wouldn't spend this much on the phone. I would definitely wait. There are some gaming phones that are going to be released in the next couple of months that are gonna, be much cheaper than this. That could very well offer better performance and there's already a rumor floating around about the snapdragon 865 plus, but next year we'll get the snapdragon 875 and so on, and so on.

That's how these SOC manufacturers do we get incremental upgrades. So it's really up to you, in my opinion, if you're already on a Snapdragon, a 55 or an 855 plus, there's really no reason to upgrade here, but if you're stuck on an older 820 or even the 835, and you're due for a phone upgrade, this might be a great choice for you, but that's pretty much it for this. Video I really appreciate you watching sorry about the voice. I'm, really under the weather. Right now, and as soon as I get better I will be doing more videos on the s20 ultra I plan on doing a full decks review and a review on the phone itself.

But if there's anything else, you want to see running on the ultra. Let me know in the comments below, but like always thanks for watching you.
