Sony Xperia 5 - Unboxing & First Impressions

Hello YouTube welcome back to my channel and in this video I'll be unboxing and giving you my first impressions of the brand new, a Sony Xperia v. This is the flagship phone from Sony which was released in the later half of 2019 I. Think if I remember correctly, it was launched in the UK in the first week of October and a month later in the States, there have been quite a few unboxing ready, so I'll try to spend minimum time on the unboxing and get on with it. So then, the next days and weeks to come I can release more videos for you guys so having a quick look around the box, nothing much here of art from history of 5. So looking at the back here gives you the four specs of the phone. It's got obviously a triple camera setup at the back.

All of them are 12 megapixel cameras. The main sensor has got the F 1.6 aperture of followed by slightly lesser avoided averages. So the front camera 8 megapixels is gone. OLED, a full HD plus HDR display so good for Netflix and your Amazon Prime with videos slightly smaller better than the Xperia one 3114 William Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, not the very latest. The eight five plus is now available on the one plus seventy.

As you can see, however, it shouldn't make a much of a difference in performance and the phone comes with six gigs of RAM, also IP, 65 and 68 dust and water resistant, so shouldn't be much of a problem also come with a micro SD card, and it's C Bluetooth and all the regular stuff, as we know. So, let's quickly open the box up, okay, so opening the box top as you can see. So this is at the brand-new Sony Xperia v, and this is the gray version. It also comes with a blue and a black version, but I thought a gray looks much, much better. It already wants to come out.

Furthermore, it seems like the phone is more desperate than I am so. This is the Sony Xperia v, and it's lovely beautiful 21 by 9 aspect ratio. We will discuss the phone in just a moment and see what else do we have in the box? So getting all the paperwork? This is the Quick Start Guide I'm sure that you won't be interested, but you can have a look and see. Should you wish to okay? What else have we got? We got this power adapter and this time around, they have given us an 18 board fast charger, so Thank You Sony for that as tendered inside the box, a charger battery fairly quick I do keep an eye on my battery life. Video for this phone I know.

Most of you have already requested this video. The battery is only 3540 William, and we've got a powerful of Full HD + OLED screen through the interesting to see how much screen on time we get. I will also be speaking about the charging speed. So please do keep an eye on that video. Ok.

So what else did you have in the box? Then we've got this type-c USB, cable, and also we've got the earphones as well, along with the 3.5 million, but obviously that has to come along event that this jack converter, jack types we USB to 3.5 mill because of the Sony Xperia v, just like the Xperia one has got no 3.5 milk, as you guys know, already, it's a growing trend and most OEM narrow skipping the 3.5 milk, but some it's a good news and from some it's a bad news, but me personally, I have adapted to the modern tech and that's the harsh reality via will have to face eventually, as soon as you hold the phone in your hand, the first thing I love about this phone is the one-handed use, and you can see my thumb can easily go across the screen and that's one of the reasons why I've got this phone because the phone is only got a 68 millimeter width, which is fantastic, there's even less wide than the Samsung Galaxy s 9, which has around 69 millimeter width. If I remember correctly now, comparing this with the 1 plus 7 T, as you can see, the 70 is a lot wider. That's the one thing I don't like about the 70, it's a lot wider and when you hold it with one hand, it's difficult for your thumb to go all the way across, and it's a bit of a struggle, and that puts a bit of strain on your palm and I. Don't like that feeling, especially when I'm in bed late at night surfing or chatting it's very difficult for me to use the 70 at time with one hand and his typing is- can be a bit of an eye, however, with the Sony Xperia v, I'm, really looking forward to using this phone with one hand. In fact, this is the only flagship phone in the world, and please do correct me on this.

If I'm wrong, which gives you 68 millimeters of Pitt, meaning you can easily use it with one hand without any fuss, even the Samsung Galaxy S 10 guys. This also has over 17 millimeters of grit is not as bad as the one T as you can see. However, the Sony Xperia v beats both of these and many other phones, in fact, pretty much every other single flagship phone out in the market when it comes to one-hand use and that's one of the reasons I'll be using this phone, as primarily my main phone, hopefully for many months to come. Obviously, along with the 70 and the Samsung Galaxy S 10 at the battery video on the 70s do very soon -. Please do stay tuned.

However, this is all about the Sony Xperia v and, like I, said, the main reason for getting this phone is its the one hand use it's the bit, 68 millimeter width and Sony is the only on who actually gives a damn about all those people out there. People like me, which we like to use the phone still with one hand, so thank you for that Sony well done and keep doing that. Please, okay, so now, let's take this cover off from the screen. There we go and let's boot, the Sony Xperia v, and once it boots up, let's quickly go through the basic specs. The Sony Xperia v has got a 6.1 inch, OLED HDR screen, meaning you can enjoy your Netflix and a prime video in 21 by 9 aspect ratio and in the days and months and years to come pretty much. All content is gonna, go into green one by nine screen ratio, meaning the screen is less wide and longer, as you can see, the phone has got a Snapdragon 805 v.

It is not the eight five plus like you have on the seven t, but it shouldn't really matter because the difference in performance is hardly noticeable. The phone also comes with six gigs of RAM and also has got three cameras. The back, like I, said at camera, set up with a dual tone: LED flash on top. So not looking that bad I like this color personally, black I'm, not a big fan of blue I've, got a 17 on it. Ready.

So I thought. Let's try the greatest time now. It seems more like a whitish grayish, but it's got a bit of a gray and a bit of light touch. However, it looks very, very cool when you see it in real. Also, the frame along the phone, as you can see, has also got this nice silver color to it, so that adds a bit more beauty in class than elegance to the overall phone and also the phone has got a Gorilla Glass 6 at the back and also a good last six at the front.

So thank you for that. Sony and also the price has been kept fairly low. This time around this phone in the UK is going for $6.99 there, which is not too bad on contracts as well on any lease deals. You should be able to get a lot cheaper than Opera, 1 and previous experience in the years. Ok, so let me just now hold this phone up to five and go to the quick setup, and then I'll be back in just a moment.

Okay, so I've now gone through the basic setup I'm on the home screen now and as we see the phone is already in the backend installing a few updates and as we speak, we also have an experience system update. So let's have a look and see what we got, so the absolute is 68.4 Mac and as we speak, Sony is already launching Android 10 on this PR 1 and the XP or 10 all across the world obviously would come in patches. But the phone at the moment, as we speak, runs on Android 9, which is Android Pi. So let's get into settings first and foremost and get into the display bit. This is the history are all at display, so I want to get the adaptive brightness switched off there we go, so we can have a manual control and, let's turn the brightness all the way up.

There we go. That is fine, so the screen is quite nice and punchy. I can see the colors are quite bright. You might not be able to see this on the camera, but it can, you see the crystal screen real, it's very, very punchy and very nice. It's not as punchy as the Super AMOLED, but still very, very nice.

Okay. So let's now have a look at a few more things at the bottom. You can see. You've got the type-c USB here, and you've got this nice speaker, grille, I, love that it gives a very elegant look, and we all know this phone has got the stereo speakers. That means the board French speaker and the top-end speaker, which acts as the second speaker, so it'd, be interesting to see how the speakers on this phone stand out against at the one plus seventy, which is called similar set up and also against the Samsung Galaxy S ten.

This also has the same similar speaker setup, one at the bottom and the earpiece on top acting as the second speaker, I will be putting videos of the Samsung Galaxy S 10 and the 70 against the spear five, and we'll see how these speakers perform. Looking at the left hand, side here, they've got the same tray and the good thing is this: SIM tray does not need any sim ejector tool or pin to actually take it out. So you can put your SD card in and also your sim in without any fuss which is not too bad, so micro SD card, as you can see, and also a SIM slot. So not looking too bad at all, alright, so looking at the top, that's the noise cancellation mic here guys, and we must flush nothing else there. On the right hand, side got a lot going on here, so this is the fingerprint sensor which I have configured already, and I'll.

Show you in just a moment this underneath there that's the power button, as you saw earlier in the video when I did put the phone up by pushing this button for three seconds, you've got the volume rocker again a very easily accessible, there's more little touches. You know whenever format, the right kind of it and your volume rocker also very easily accessible and Sony when it comes to economics of the phone know exactly how to put stuff and on the Sony Xperia v they've got it perfectly Adam, in my opinion, so Donna at the bottom, because the camera shutter button again, not many on SAR doing it. I think in fact, Sony is the only one who still provides you with this nice camera shutter button. Okay, so that's pretty much it now. Let's use this finger bit sensor and see how it goes so.

My thumb and my index finger are configured. So let's have a look there. You go open up straight away and without any fuss now I have heard a lot in the media. A lot of people complaining about this fingerprint sensors, being not as reliable I will be testing in the days needs to come and see how it performs. You also have a few updates, like I said at this update, and I'm sure this will follow up by at the Android 10 update as well.

So I will keep an eye on this fingerprint sensor and that this misbehaves I will in an update on my channel in a video, or please do keep an eye on social media. Follow me on Twitter, instant, Facebook and I will be reporting regularly on this fingerprint sensor. Okay, so now looking at the back of the phone- and it's got three cameras, all the 12 megapixel, the main sensors got a 1 F 1.6 aperture. The phone also has got NFC a flash like I, said: nice, Sony logo in the middle and Xperia at the bottom, adding a bit more class and touch to it. Okay, now, let's get into settings and have a look and see how much storage this phone has got so getting into the settings here and let's get into the storage bit, which should be here somewhere there.

We go storage and, as you can see, we have a total of seventeen point. Eight six gigs used out of 128 gigs, which is not looking too bad, so 14% is used as we speak a bit higher. However, its Android, it does take a bit of space as opposed to iOS, so not looking too bad for most people out there. This with plenty and plus the phone has got an option of an SD card, so I shouldn't be that bad, ok, next up, let's check the version of which might have Android. This phone is running so getting into system and then getting into about phone, as you can say, is running Android version, 9 and, like I said attend will be up very, very soon.

Okay, so, let's get into now the speakers I want to hear just quickly before we finish the video of how do the speakers do? You know they don't sound that bad? Obviously, it's a steel speaker set up like I, said to you earlier, a bottom speaker, along with the earpiece acting as the second speaker, this sound good, not too bad, but as difficult telethon, sound better than the one plus 70 and the Samsung Galaxy S 10 and, like I, said to you earlier in the video I will be doing a few videos in the weeks to come. I will be comparing the speakers on the Xperia v with the 70 and the Galaxy S ten, so guys, that's pretty much from me for now. My first impressions about the Sony Xperia v, it looks like a very good phone, solid phone and the one thing I personally love about this phone is the one hand use where I can go all the way across without any fuss, and I'm easily able to grip it with one hand and my thumb like a set point all the way across without any fuss. So this is my favorite most thing about the phone so far battery life camera performance. Everything else obviously will be looked at in the next things to come.

So please do stay tuned, and I will be releasing quite a few videos as we speak so guys, if you like my video, please give it a thumbs up and any questions. Please feel free to ask me in the comment section and like always, please subscribe as it helps, and I shall see you in the next video.
