Samsung Note 20 5G Review: Plastic Back, 60Hz Display, 12MP, $1000 Price Tag. WHAT?!!

Yo, hey guys, welcome back to another video with LIM reviews, so once again, I'm here using this mic because it does sound so much better than the mic on my phone. Sorry on my camera, but yeah, it is what it is all right. So in today's video we'll be checking out the Galaxy Note 20 that I just received yesterday. So it is a brand-new device, but I notice a lot of people on YouTube are doing the Galaxy Note 20 ultra, but I decided that this little guy right here, the Galaxy Note 20 non-ultra, deserves some love as well. So in this video we'll be taking a quick look, a first impression on the Galaxy Note 20. I won't dwell too much on the details, but I'll just bring you up to speed with what you're going to expect from this device right here.

So without further ado, let's just start off with the unboxing. First, all right. So, as you can see, we got the Galaxy Note 20 box right here and when you pop the lid, the first thing you're grated with is the device itself. So I was pretty excited when I unboxed it for the first time, because I was really looking forward to checking out that new copper color on the note, 20 and yeah. It does look pretty good like it looks bronze and all that, but it definitely looks very premium.

Looking all right. So after removing the device from the box, you also get a pair of AKG earphones that are type c connected to the device itself. The thing about this AKG earphones is they don't sound too great they're, just very standard kind of earphones, so don't be fooled by the AKG branding and all that it's just a very standard pair of earphones. Apart from that, you do get the type c to type c, USB cable, to charge your device and yeah of 25 watt charger in the box. So that's pretty much what you get in the box very simple and basic stuff, but what we want to focus on right now is the note 20 itself all right.

So this is the device itself. Once again, it does look pretty good looks is definitely subjective, but for me, I'm pretty happy with the design of the note 20. I want to touch a little on the build quality. So, as we know, the back panel of this is glass stick. I would say it's actually pretty plastic to me like it feels very plastic.

It is this matte material which is a bit nice to touch, but it is very plastic. For example, when I just press on the back of this panel, you'll notice that there is a lot of flex going on. I can literally press through the back panel right here, and it feels like a very thin layer of plastic or whatever you want to call it so it naturally it doesn't inspire any kind of like premium, build quality, considering the price you're paying for this device so on to the price. This is 4400 ringgits here in Malaysia for the 5g version, and that is not cheap by any means and the fact that it is so expensive, and yet you get this plastic bag. Just doesn't make sense to me all right.

So I'm not going to complain too much about that. Overall, the device does feel pretty good in hand. It's just the plastic bag that just doesn't inspire any levels of like premium, build quality, all right so on to the back of the device again, the mat materials here is actually a little rougher than what I have seen on the VIVO x50. The x50 comes with a very nice smooth, matte back. It is made of glass by the way.

So it's very solid, apart from that, I do have my beloved Poco f2 pro here as well, which also comes with a matte back. That feels perfect. This is properly solid compared to the plastic on the Samsung note 20. , all right, uh, apart from the back. Let's talk about something else: let's flip it to the front, and here once again, um.

Okay, it is a good and a bad kind of situation here. The good thing is that we do get a very nice AMOLED display. That is huge large. It is 6.7 inches, so very nice if you're going to watch your movies or your YouTube videos on it, but the setting here is it is only 60 hertz. I mean this once again.

This is an expensive device. This is 2020, we get 5g, but we don't get a high refresh rate display. So I'm going to pull up my OnePlus knot right here, side by side very quickly, and this one plus not is just a 1 800 ringgit devices, which is like almost one. Third, the price of the note 20. But yet it does get a 90 hertz display and the thing is, it does feel a bit more snappy, and you know just more just nicer to navigate around quicker to respond than the note 20.

So again it doesn't make sense to have a 60hz display for a phone costing this much in 2020. All right. So too many negatives. Let's move on to something more positive, and maybe we'll find that in the cameras so flipping the device to the back. You get three sensors at the back here.

Obviously, since this is not the ultra version, your cameras are also discounted uh. We do get a 64, megapixel, telephoto lens right, listen up! This is a telephoto lens, that's 64, megapixels for your zoom ins, so the main sensor itself is 12, megapixels uh, definitely not the highest megapixel account, and we do have an ultra-wide sensor. That's also 12 megapixels, okay, so these are all numbers. But what we want to talk about here is the image quality. So I've taken a couple of photos here and there so for you guys to check out, you can judge it whether you like it or not, but this is what you'll be getting on the Galaxy Note 20.

So all right like this is just a pre look at it a first impression, so I don't have a lot of photos now, but yeah you get the idea on how what to expect. With the Galaxy Note 20. , let's talk a bit about the processing power, so what we have here is the Enos 990, and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but once again I'm going to pull out my Poco f2 pro right here and show you guys the benchmark results. So I ran both devices through the geek bench 5 and well. What do you know? Well, basically, the geek bench scores are.

The single scores are very similar for both devices. One is 922 compared to 911 yeah. When you go to the multi-core score, you notice that the Poco f2 pro actually blows the note 20 out of the water. I mean once again, it's just losing everything. The note 20 is just losing guys so yeah, if you just is you're the kind of guy who likes to talk about performance and numbers and all that the f2 pro is just here for you to save the day, all right.

Let's move on to the next point, the battery life. So we do get a pretty large battery here, 4 300 William hours, if I'm not mistaken, and it charges up to 50 in slightly below 30 minutes, so about half an hour to 50 and once again it's not the fastest, but not the slowest as well. All right! So um again, nothing really too impressive about the note 20 here. I really don't know why they released this, like everything is all about the note 20 ultra. This is just like the.

How should you say the substitute player that sits on the bench like literally no one's talking about this device right here? Okay, so one thing cool about this- that I quite like is the pen, the s pen at the back here, which you can remove. So it looks pretty standard like before, but I noticed that the latency uh is okay uh. It is not as low as the latency on the note 20 ultra, if I'm not mistaken, that is super responsive, but to be honest, uh as someone who sketches a lot right here, I noticed that the pen was actually pretty responsive. I was able to draw a car or something just a rough sketch on the device with pretty much. It was pretty much very easy, and I didn't face any seriousness in terms of latency, so all good there.

If you like to draw, I would say that this is a pretty nice device, pretty nifty uh to draw stuff on the note 20. Of course, you can use the pen itself to do a lot of other kind of cool stuff, but yeah. Essentially, I want to say that it is quite responsive, and it is a nice feature to have all right. I think that's pretty much it for the first look. Let me know what you guys want to know about the Galaxy Note 20.

So far. If you ask me whether this is something that I would recommend to my friends, honestly speaking, I would say at this point probably not the reason for that is once again, the price is too high number one number two, you don't even get a high refresh rate display number three: the back materials come on you're, paying 4 300 ringgits for a bag that flexes like, ah, okay, yeah. So definitely not looking too good for this device right here. All right guys, I think that's pretty much it for this device. I don't want to sound like uh like someone who's, just bashing the note 20.

I still like this device for a couple of reasons. A nice, pretty large display feels good in hand and all that, but yeah we'll definitely be testing this out further, and let me know what you guys want to know if you like this video, don't forget to hit that like button leave a comment. If you want, and I'll see you guys in the next one bye.
