Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra TERRIBLE Battery Life Problems!

Hey everybody welcome back to tech odyssey, so today, I'm here to talk about some issues that I'm still having and even a new one that I'm having with the Samsung Galaxy s 21 ultra. Just for all you Samsung knight fans out there, I'm going to go ahead and lay this out. I love the phone. I love the phone. If I didn't, I would not go through all of these headaches and continue using it, because pretty much any other phone on the planet would not be worth it at all. But here we are.

I have the 128 gigabyte version of the s21 ultra, and I'm having two issues with it, and we're going to talk about them in this video, and it's not my sunburn. I got really. Furthermore, I got a bad sunburn, either way, we'll talk about all this in the video, but before we get there. Furthermore, I do want to say if this is your first time stopping by the channel. Furthermore, I appreciate you being here if you enjoyed the video, please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell.

If you want updates, when new videos come out now, let's talk about the s21 ultra issues- okay, just to get everything set straight before I start talking. I love this phone. I do it's a perfect phone. It's amazing! It's great! Furthermore, it's fun! To use! I love the display. I love the under the screen fingerprint sensor.

Furthermore, I love the power, but two things are driving me crazy, uh, one of them actually both of them seem to be progressive issues see neither one of these issues were extremely apparent when the phone first came out- and I had this problem with the note 20 ultra I've had it with other Samsung phones. When you first get them, they work pretty well, and then it seems like, as time goes on, whether the adaptive battery, whether it's one UI, whether it's a whole host of other issues, it starts developing problems and one of them, especially, has been the terrible battery life. Now I talked about this when I made my video back around February, saying that it had terrible battery life. I was getting like four and a half hours of screen on time and then or like 10 battery left and that kind of fixed a little just a little. Whenever the march update came out, and it seems like they tried to address some battery issues, so I went out on a limb.

I gave it a try and got the march update and I messed around with the settings a little. It didn't really seem like initially I was getting great battery life, but it did seem like there was a slight uptake and I decided. Let me try something. Let me try turning off adaptive battery, because I think that the problem with the battery is not the hardware. I think it's a software issue.

I think it has to do with one UI and when they came out with the new version they came out with the updates. They really threw things for a loop. So initially when the phone came out, yes, it was getting perfect battery life. I mean I was getting eight hours of screen on time, which was beautiful. It made me get rid of my note, 20 ultra because it had notoriously bad battery life for me so enter stage right, the bad battery life issues.

So I talked about this before four and a half hour screen on time with 10 20 battery life left. Well, I went out to Las Vegas, and I was having a good time. I was shooting video I was taking pictures. I was doing all sorts of things with other phones, because the battery life on this one was so terrible, and I thought about it because I was like you know: I've got the best, arguably the best android smartphone in the world, and I'm having to rely on other phones, because, while I'm out and about this one will not last through the day, and thankfully I was testing out another phone- that I've got a review coming on very soon that I can't talk about but yeah. This is a serious problem, even without using the camera.

I mean. I took a few pictures here and there, but I mean it was very, very infrequent. Furthermore, I was not shooting video with it. Furthermore, I was just carrying it around as my normal phone calling, users and stuff like that, so three hours and 46 minutes of screen on time with about 29 30 battery left, that is abysmal. That is pathetically low, and I had some hope because when that march update came out, I actually like I said I did see an uptick in performance and I had started getting kind of close to five hours again, but I didn't want to be like okay, they fixed things because it still didn't seem quite right, and then it started coming back down again, so I tried it for like a day or two with adapted battery off.

I actually got six hours and 30 minutes of screen on time. I was like man. This is good, like I was that close to making a video saying that they have fixed it and then good old Samsung. A couple of days later, as I was still testing it out going back and forth, because I was trying to figure out what was it adaptive battery that was killing it or was it not adaptive battery that was killing it. I'm still out on that one.

I have adapted battery off right now, but still three hours and 46 minutes of screen on time with about 30 percent battery left on a 5 000 William battery. Look it's great! If you have a phone, that's getting eight to ten hours of screen on time, and it's lasting you all day long, and it's a two-day phone for you, because I can see this in the comments now I get it, and I'm glad it works for you. But for me and a lot of other people, it's not working! Well, it's working about as well for me as this sunburn that I have all over my face right now, which I feel less betrayed by than this phone. So, yes, that was one of the biggest issues. Actually, that was the biggest issue, because I really felt like I was handicapped.

I thought that look. If I've got this phone with me, I can't even get through the day on my trip with my family to Las Vegas, and I can't even take pictures because it's going to drain the battery even more because the camera notoriously drains the battery on here, so they still haven't fixed the battery issues. I thought they had it looked promising for about a week and then gone again. So the second thing that I'm having problems with is the shutter. There is a lot of lag in this shutter, so whenever you take pictures on the camera, this has been an issue for a long time and a lot of other people talked about this one of my one of my buddies, technically the like notoriously hates the shutter lag, that's on here, so shutter lag, meaning you press the camera button and then how quickly it takes a picture.

So here it's okay, but the problem is. It was really, really bad. I was having some like second delays on the shutter lag and I think it has to do with the motion photos. So I have it. It automatically defaulted to motion photo somehow.

Maybe it was when the update came out. I wasn't doing it. I didn't remember this feature prior to that, so I was taking pictures with this and then the shutter lag was just getting worse and worse and worse and worse. So I don't know if it was just something that was kind of built-up in the system and the memory and was lagging it down. I don't know I ended up restarting my phone, but it was something that happened like two or three times.

While I was out there, and I don't know- maybe it was a heating issue. Maybe it was because I was using my phone- I don't know, but I was having some serious shutter lag issues to the point that I was missing, some good shots, or I would press it, and then it was like okay processing, or it would take like a second for it to actually take the picture and then my kids had moved my wife had moved the image I was trying to take just didn't exist anymore. It was gone, and after I restarted it seemed to kind of fix things a little. But this was not an issue before the march update. I hadn't noticed it in January.

I hadn't noticed in February and then after this patch that had come out- and I was out about taking pictures or trying to anyway. It really started to hinder my experience and was giving me some serious problems. So it's very frustrating that this phone is supposed to have like the best in class camera, the best in class performance. It's supposed to be the flagship standard, android phone of 2021 right now until something better comes out down the road. So it's particularly frustrating because I've, given this phone, a lot of chances, and I'm not I'm not getting rid of it.

I still love this phone, but it seems to be developing more issues, and this is also something that's happened with some other Samsung phones in the past. Having software related issues that are affecting the hardware performance, they put out an update to try and fix one thing, and they cause other issues, and then they're not quick to fix things. This isn't like apple, where they put out a patch, and then they mess something up and maybe a couple of days later, a week later, there's already a fix, and I'm not praising apple for being apple. I'm really not a big apple fan, it's just facts. They are good about addressing patches or issues created by patches, they'll go, and they'll fix it so with hotfix patch.

So Samsung has yet to do anything like that, and I don't know if other people are experiencing this issue. Maybe you are. Maybe you aren't, but yes, the battery life still sucks, and I'm beginning to wonder. If it's something they're going to be able to fix like it started off, okay, and then it goes, and then they try to fix it and it kind of leveled out and got a little better, and then it fell off the cliff again. So I'm hoping they can find a way to fix this.

I really am because I'd really like to get some decent battery life out of my phone. I'm like this close to getting ready to go back to my fold, 2, which didn't have either of these problems. Now there is still the notorious shutter lag that Samsung has with taking pictures on their phones. When you press the shutter button, it is slower than a lot of other phones that capturing a picture. I've been mostly okay with this, because I've always used Samsung phones, but when it gets to the point where I'm pressing it and then there's like a huge delay before it takes a picture, and then it freezes.

Sometimes on top of that, that's a serious problem, and I think that that was created by the march software update. So those two things right there really made for a very frustrating experience. While I was out of town, I went out with my family for spring break, tried to capture some moments, trying to have a reliable phone with me and more times than not. I was using my other phone that I was carrying to take pictures and do other things, because I was worried. My primary phone would not make it through the day, and I was not carrying around a battery bank.

I was not tethered to a power cord I was out about and if I leave at nine or ten o'clock in the morning- and I have to worry about my battery by four or five in the afternoon- that's a serious problem, especially for a 1200 phone, so yeah. I just wanted to make these things apparent and talk to you guys about it, maybe you're having some of the same issues and if you are please sign up in the comments section, I've had a lot of people that have been telling me they've been affected by these problems as well. So I'd like to hear about your experience tell me if the march update helped you out at all, because I've had a lot of questions about that too. So that's all I've got in this video. Hopefully Samsung can fix this.

Hopefully it will get better and hopefully my sunburn will get better too because it hurts almost as much as smashing my drone into the side of the mountain that sucked too, but I ordered another one anyway. So that's all I got in this video. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them down. In the comment section, I will get back with you if you enjoy the video please hit the like and the subscribe button and little notification bell if you want updates when new videos come out and as always thanks for being here, I appreciate you watching, and I'll see you guys next time.
