Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G review: Does the Exynos 2100 overheat? | Price starts at Rs. 1,05,999

The Samsung Galaxy s21, ultra 5g, is a great smartphone and comes loaded with all the belts and whistles I mean if a phone that costs upward of a lack isn't great, then there is something wrong with it right, but being just great isn't enough in 2021. Now as much as the galaxy s, phones have been known to offer the best all-round flagship experience, especially the snapdragon powered phones that we get outside in the US over the years. The Enos variants of the phones that we get over here in India have been receiving quite the flack, especially in regard to overheating, which brings me to the burning question: does the Enos 2100 chipsets inside the galaxy s21 ultra 5g overheat? Let's find out hi everyone? My name is Amanda Rashid you're watching Mr phone, and this is my review of the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g. Now before we start, please take a moment and subscribe to the Mr phone YouTube channel if you haven't yet and do hit that bell icon so that you're notified whenever a brand new video drops on the channel. With that said, let's get started we'll get to the display and design part of this phone in a bit. But for now, let's start off by talking about the phones or hardware uh, more specifically about the Enos 2100 chipsets.

So to answer the question that does the galaxy s21 ultra 5 you overheat in one word I would say no before I explain my answer. Let me give you the phone's specifications in India, the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra is powered by the 5 nanometer outscore 2.9 gigahertz Enos 2100 soc, the phone comes in a choice of two variants. The base variant has a 12 GB of lpddr5 ram, coupled with 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which costs 1 lakh 5999 rupees, and the top variant has 16 GB of LP ddr5 ram, coupled with a 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage and this one costs 1 lakh 16, 999 rupees. Sadly, the micro SD card option is not present on this smartphone, so be extra careful while choosing your storage option. So how do these numbers stack in the real world? Now? Personally, I haven't ever tested a snapdragon powered, Samsung, galaxy flagship smartphone.

So I can't comment on the actual real world performance of a snapdragon powered uh galaxy flagship, but I do know for a fact and because I have used a bunch of Enos powered Samsung Galaxy flagships and yes, they do get hot. I mean whenever you're having a long session of gameplay, or you're, clicking a lot of photos and recording a lot of videos or maybe, whenever you're putting uh too much load on the CPU performing. You know CPU intensive tasks, yes, the Enos chipsets of the past in Samsung Galaxy flagships did use to get hot. As for the Enos 2100, I can finally say that this is the chipset that I exactly wanted to see from Samsung. Now, general performance was great, of course, but even when I pushed the chipset by playing graphics, intensive games such as engine impact for long stretches or clicking a lot of photos and videos, the phone did get warm, but it did not overheat.

Even regarding the phone's battery performance, I had no complaints or, for that matter the phone's general performance, apps, open, fast loads of ram makes sure that multitasking is a breeze and smooth animations plus transitions. Make sure that everything looks and feels fast. You'll also be able to play all sorts of games without having to worry about the phone getting hot. I played Call of Duty mobile and asphalt 9 legends at the highest graphics settings and I did not come across any significant problems. Noticeable frame drops have been brought to a bare minimum, and you can now expect a very smooth and stable gameplay experience in terms of fps in graphics, intensive games.

Now I've already mentioned that I played a lot of junction impact on this phone and this game by the way did manage to get the phone a warm around the camera module, but otherwise I did not see a drop in performance and art of playing this game drained about 12 percent of battery, which I think is a good one. Last thing that I would like to add about this phone's hardware is that I'm truly in love with the galaxy s21 ultra vibration motor. I think- and it's totally my opinion first, that the vibration motor inside this phone is the best that you can get on any smartphone today, till date, my preferred device for the best vibration that has the best vibration motor uh was the iPhone 11 Pro, which is my current. You know daily driver as well, but I think uh that has that changes now and uh. In my opinion, the best vibration motor.

If you'd ask me which phone has it, I would say the galaxy s21 ultra haptic feedback is superb precise and on point especially when you enable and disable toggles the haptics are so satisfying and the buzz you hear, I mean you have to test it out to feel it by the way do check out the fireworks or vibration pattern for calls in sounds and vibration settings. It is truly satisfying okay. So now that I have already touched down upon the phone's hardware uh, let's also talk about the phone's software first, you know before jumping onto the design display and cameras, so the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g ships with one UI 3.1, which is based on android 11. , and I've already experienced one UI 3 on the Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe, and on this phone the software experience only gets better in terms of features as usual. Samsung's software is loaded to the brim.

For that matter, the galaxy s21 ultra brings a few neat features of its own, along with one UI, which I feel are very good. For example, you can now change the video resolution directly from the viewfinder. It's right there and no more. You need to specially go into settings. Besides, video recording gets a brand-new feature called a director's view, which basically lets you record footage from all the cameras that is front and rear.

At the same time, this is an exciting feature for vloggers moving on. I still can't believe how good Samsung DEX is, and I know it has its shortcomings, and it does need more polishing but having the ability to connect my phone to a display and using it as a computer. I mean I don't see any reason to complain much about this and so overall, I feel that one ui3 is not only visually appealing but is also very functional. Now, if you guys want to watch a more comprehensive video, you know where I talk about the best features that you can find on one UI 3.1. Then please, let me know in the comments and if there's enough interest, then I will definitely try to make a video on the topic.

However, I do have one issue with the software, something I did not encounter during my review of the galaxy s20 Fe. I'm talking about ads and spam notifications and trust me. I did not encounter even one when I reviewed the galaxy s20 fan edition, so I don't understand why I am seeing uh starting at 69 999 rupees galaxy s21 ads on the top of the line, galaxy s21 model which costs over a lakh. This is not cool, and while we are talking about not being cool well, duplicate, apps are still there that you can get rid of manually by uninstalling, but why are they here in the first place? Although a pleasant surprise? Is the inclusion of a Google discover when you swipe right from the home screen now, you can still opt to use something free instead of Google's offering, I mean that's totally your choice. For me, google discover is here, Samsung is listening, and I am happy about it rounding this off, and I will only say that overall, one UI three is a very capable software.

It comes with loads of features and, to be honest, it is evident that Samsung's software has evolved over the ages and in a good way. Of course, the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g features a large 6.8 inch, quad HD, plus a super AMOLED display, which Samsung calls dynamic, AMOLED 2x. This panel comes with a variable screen, refresh rate of up to 120 hertz and is dropped and gorgeous to look at in terms of quality. There's no doubt that this is one of the best displays that you can get on a smartphone right now, colors, look punchy, you get wide viewing angles. Content looks great, and it gets plenty bright, whether you use it outdoors or indoors.

A welcome addition is that you can now use the display refresh rate set at 120 hertz, along with quad HD plus resolution, something that wasn't possible to do in the galaxy s20 series. As for the design and build. This is a large phone and there's no denying that. However, the matte texture on the rear, the shiny aluminum frame, the way the frame merges into the phone's body and the large camera module makes this a very good-looking smartphone. By the way, both the front and rear glass is protected by corning's the latest gorilla, glass Invictus.

That said, this is, without a doubt, a very heavy smartphone and, at the same time, very cumbersome to hold. To be honest, I did face a lot of difficulties, while using the phone with one hand, not to mention that the phone is also very slippery. So if you are okay with the fact that you can live with a smartphone which is not only large but also very heavy, you won't regret purchasing the galaxy s21 ultra moving on the phone's power button is situated on the right, while the volume buttons are found on the left. These buttons are extremely click and offer amazing tactile feedback at the bottom. There's an USB type-c port, a primary microphone, the dual NATO sim slots and a speaker grill at the top is the phone's earpiece, which also doubles up as the secondary speaker and a couple of microphones are also present beneath the display is the second generation ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which has a 77 large surface area in comparison to the first generation sensor, found on the galaxy s20 series now initially, I did think that the fingerprint sensor on this phone was quite finicky, but over time as I have developed the muscle memory- and I now have an idea about the placement of the fingerprint sensor, I can say that I have no major complaints in regard to its accuracy or its.

You know speed of unlocking the device you'll be mesmerized by the galaxy s21 ultra's OLED display, because this really is one of the gorgeous displays you can get on a smartphone trust me. You'll, have a blast watching movies playing games or simply browsing your Instagram feed on the smartphone in terms of audio performance. The stereo speakers on offer are very pleasant to hear. Not only are they loud, but they also sound, very clear and crispy genius, even at high volumes or for that matter max volumes. I couldn't come across any distortion in the audio output.

I mean whether you're watching a movie or listening to songs or even playing a game. The audio experience on this phone has been truly spectacular. Additionally, you also get a Dolby Atmos on this phone for media playback, as well as for gaming. In terms of wired audio experience, I used Samsung's level. U headphones along with the dongle, and I think the audio output was great.

As for the wireless audio performance, I used my AirPods Pro for usually watching a lot of Netflix and listening to songs on YouTube music. The AirPods Pro sounded top-notch and I also didn't come across any connectivity problems as well. The Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g gets a 5000 my battery under the hood, which supports 25 watt fast charging, 15 watt, fast wireless charging and a 5 watt. Reverse wireless charging battery life on this phone has been amazing. The galaxy s21 ultra is easily a one-day phone.

If you are a heavy user, a casual user can even get about a day and a half with ease. That's not all. During my testing I thoroughly tested the phone with the display resolution set at quad, HD plus, along with the 120 hertz screen refresh rate, and still I never had a feeling that the phone might end up running out of juice earlier than usual surprisingly standby times on this phone are also greatly improved. I mean about a four percent drop in battery overnight. I will gladly take it, although one card that I do have with this phone is that it maxes out at 25 watt in terms of wired charging speeds, considering phones which cost about 30 000 rupees these days and can go from zero to 100 in just about 30 minutes.

Furthermore, I really think is that Samsung needs to up their game in this department taking around an hour and a half to fully charge the galaxy s21 ultra from zero to a hundred percent is just not cool and besides you no longer get the charging brick inside the phone's box, so yeah there's that as well in terms of connectivity. Of course, the phone is 5g ready for the future. It also supports most of the major Wi-Fi bands, along with support for the latest Wi-Fi 6e standard. This phone also comes with Bluetooth, 5.2 and NFC. Throughout the review period, I tested the galaxy s21 ultra on Jio's 4g network, and I did not face any major connectivity problems or call drops.

Finally, let's talk about cameras on the rear. You see a quadriga camera system that comprises a second generation 108 megapixel primary camera, with f 1.8, aperture, laser autofocus and optical image stabilization. This is accompanied by a 12 megapixel ultra-wide angle, camera with f 2.2 aperture, a 10 megapixel telephoto camera with is and 3x optical zoom, and finally, a 10 megapixel periscope lens with is and 10x optical zoom for selfies. There's a 40 megapixel front camera with f 2.2 aperture situated in the center aligned punch hole in terms of performance. The galaxy s21 ultra's mean camera captures detailed, 12, megapixel pixel bin photos by default.

Colors are, of course, on the saturated side. However, personally I prefer Samsung's take on image processing and I really love the output on the galaxy s21 ultra. As for the photos taken in full 108 megapixel resolution, the level of detail is on another level. Overall photos look crisp sharp and the dynamic range is excellent. The ultra-wide angle, camera on the galaxy s21 ultra offers a pretty wide field of view.

Photos look good in terms of color, reproduction and dynamic range in terms of details. Of course, at this lens comes nowhere close to the main 108 megapixel primary camera. That said, go near an object and the ultra-wide angle lens doubles up as a macro length and this time around in terms of close-up photos, details are extremely sharp and the colors pop, and while we are talking about details, both the 3x telephoto camera and the 10x periscope lens captures some amazing pictures of afar of objects. Also, while we are on the topic of Yuma, how can I forget and not talk about the much advertised 100x space zoom feature while I don't see it as a feature that I would use very often, but I also don't see it as a gimmick anymore. Actually, I managed to take a photo of a full moon, and I know it is not the most detailed photo in the world but being able to capture a half decent photo of the moon from a smartphone was simply an eye-opener.

For me respect in terms of clicking photos at night I was once again impressed by the overall performance of the camera, while night mode does help in getting brighter images. Whenever the need is partially thanks to the bright night sensor, it is the photos that I took over without a night mode. That made me realize how good the phone's still photography. Skills are during the night. Coming on to the front camera.

The 40 megapixel lens at the front takes some amazing 10, megapixel pixel bend photos by default. The camera now lets. You choose a color tone for your selfies that is natural or bright. Personally, I went ahead and made the setting to natural in well-lit conditions. The camera does a good job of capturing colors and dealing with skin textures during not so ideal lighting conditions.

Sometimes the colors do appear to look a bit washed out in photos, but nothing major. As always, it is the portrait mode that made me go in awe. I have said it before, and I will repeat it again. In my opinion, I don't think that any other phone does a better portrait mode than a flagship, Samsung Galaxy smartphone. As for videos, the Samsung Galaxy s21, ultra 5g can shoot 8k videos at 24 frames per second from its main camera.

Apart from that, all the lenses at the back and the front can record 4k videos at 60fps in terms of general performance videos shot during the day, exhibit good color, reproduction and dynamic range, whether you shoot at 4k or full HD. The resulting output is pretty good overall, while the stabilization is handled well in both 4k and full HD, I actually felt that the pans and movements were slightly better in full HD mode. By the way, the super, steady, video mode is also able to record some of the most smooth looking videos that you can get on a smartphone moving over to the footage shot during the night, and I would only say that this is the best smartphone camera that I have ever used to shoot videos at night I mean it is not just the colors or details that look good during the night, but the way this camera kept noise and distortion at a bare minimum is just amazing. Selfie videos are once again pretty neat. I mean the front camera is able to capture a lot of details.

Sharp exposure handling is good and stabilization is also on point. What do you guys think about the stabilization? I think it's fine. It looks good on the phone's screen, but still, let me know in the comments uh. What do you guys think and also let me know about the audio quality? I would like to mention two cool features before I close the camera section, and that is director's view and a portrait video. This is director's view on the galaxy s21 ultra.

As you can see, all the cameras are right now being utilized to record the video uh, so I just shifted to the uh, the normal camera, the primary camera, and this would be the telephoto camera, and this is the ultra-wide angle, camera. Oh, this is perfect for vloggers who like to talk to the camera and show what's around them so yeah. This is the director's view on the galaxy s21 ultra 5g. Now, just like other phones that do portrait videos, the galaxy s21 ultra is also not perfect, but if I have to choose the best phone that does portray videos on the market, then without a doubt I will go for the galaxy s21 ultra now. Do I recommend the Samsung Galaxy s21, ultra 5g or not? Well, this is a tricky question, and I'm not calling this tricky, because this is a bad phone.

Instead, this is one of the best phones that you can uh purchase right now, but the thing that makes me think twice before recommending this phone to everyone is its price hear me out so the galaxy s21 ultra 5g is an amazing, big, smartphone or honestly speaking, the best, a big smartphone that money can buy right now it scores high on the looks features. A beautiful display feels solid in the hands, comes with awesome cameras and has good battery life. But to get all of this, you have to pay a cost and the cost is pretty steep, which once again brings me to the question that is the galaxy s21 ultra 5g worth recommending. Okay, I would put it this way that, if you're in the market for the best that android has to offer in terms of everything- and you don't mind spending over a lakh- I strongly suggest closing your eyes and get the galaxy s21 ultra. However, if you think that your budget doesn't allow- or even if you have the budget, but you think that you know investing so much on a phone is plain stupidity, then that's fine, because you know these days getting a good phone doesn't require.

You know, spending insane amounts of money. For example, you can get the Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe, which is a good phone. You can get it for about 40 000, rupees uh. Now the galaxy s21 ultra is definitely a much, much better phone than the s20 Fe, but is it a 65 000 rupees better than the s20 Fe? I don't think so. So there you have it guys uh.

This was my review of the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g. In my opinion, you know if you ask me if you, if your budget allows- and you want to purchase the best android phone out there- uh, then the s21 ultra uh won't disappoint you. So what are your thoughts? Uh? Please? Let me know in the comments below and as always thanks for watching and for all the latest in tech. Stay tuned to Mr phone. See you in the next one you.
