Samsung Galaxy S20 Vs Samsung Galaxy A71! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison, this time around between the Samsung Galaxy a71 and the Samsung Galaxy s20. Now I probably should have done this a while ago, but it is what it is. There's nothing we can do can't go back in time and do it now the Samsung Galaxy s 21 came out a little after the a71, but this one is still more expensive, even in the used market. This is a thousand dollars brand new, but you can pick one up for like less than 700 on Amazon, the Samsung Galaxy 71 is a budget phone that came out technically in 2019. It was released in 2020 and both of these have, you know been out for a little like I stated you can pick up a galaxy a71 for less than 400, which is a pretty good deal in my opinion, so I'll go ahead and find the cheapest ones on Amazon and link them down to the description below, so you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time now, starting off with the front panels. First, the sizes you can see the galaxy a71, even though it's a budget phone is a bigger phone overall than the s20 we've been seeing that usually with budget phones, they're smaller they're weirder, they kind of look the same too.

I think the s20 still has far less bezel around it than the a71, but that's still a really cool thing that the a71 has. You know similar styling as the galaxy s20, which is way more expensive. Now, on the a71, we have a 6.7 inch. Super AMOLED plus display it's 1080p, and I think it's a pretty good panel for a budget phone. It's a pretty big panel too.

So I think, if you're looking at this phone, if you're looking at the s20 you're going to assume this one is the more expensive one. It kind of looks like the s20 plus. To be honest, you have that hole, punch display which is perfect a little of bezel around the whole entire panel. But it's really not bad, like I've. Seen, phones with that were like way more expensive than this with way more bezel around it, and this panel, for the most part, looks pretty good.

You have the fingerprint sensor within the display as well, which looks really, really cool, and I think functionality wise and everything it's a pretty good pin. I do give Samsung a lot of props for making this type of panel on this type of device, so the 871 I like it with the Samsung Galaxy s20. On the other hand, we have a 6.2 inch, dynamic, AMOLED display. Now this panel is 1440p, and you still have that same hole, punch display. You still have that fingerprint sensor in the display as well, and definitely the s20 panel looks better.

You have a higher PPI as well, which is really cool, but the best thing about the s20 is that you do have that 120 hertz, refresh rate, which is really, really awesome. That is something that a lot of phones are starting to bring now in 2020, but still it's kind of a rare you know accessory. I would say it's not like a mandated thing, but more phones are starting to bring it, but the s20 has that capability, which is really cool. So when it comes down to the panel, I would definitely give the edge to the Samsung Galaxy s20, but the a71 for having you know a cheaper price tag is still really impressive. In my opinion, on the bottom, USB type-c ports on both the Samsung Galaxy s7 does have that headphone jack, which is really cool in terms of thickness.

You can kind of see that I think the a71 gives the facade that it's a little thinner, and maybe it is, I don't know, but they're, both kind of the same thing. I don't really think one is. You know superiorly, thicker or thinner than the other one feeling, both in the hand they kind of feel the same thickness. To be honest, and on the back, we have a quadruple camera setup on the 871 and a triple camera setup on the s20. Now you have like.

I don't know if this is. I think this is a plastic back on the a71, but it feels kind of like glass. It doesn't feel cheap with the galaxy. S20 has a full on glass back on it, which looks really, really nice now I'll definitely give the edge to the Samsung Galaxy s20 for having a more premium filling device, and when you feel both in the hand the s20 does feel more premium, just because of the aluminum chassis with a super premium feeling back, and it has a good half to it too. The a71 is bigger.

It doesn't look a little, you know more premium, you would think, but feeling both in the hand I give the edge to the galaxy s20. Now, thankfully, both have micros card slots, which is really, really cool. So in terms of the outside, I give the s to the s20 for having the better screen and the better functionality, but the a71 is still a perfect thing for being a budget device at the end of the day. Now, in terms of the software, they both are very interesting they're, both on one UI right now, one UI ui2, and they should be getting these same type of software. Lifecycle updates for a little of time, but I'm still unsure how Samsung a series devices are in terms of software, so I would probably have to say that the galaxy s21 is going to outlast the Galaxy S7 d1 in terms of software updates.

That's still not to say that the a71 is a bad. You know software update phone or anything. It's still going to be getting updates for quite a bit of time, I'm sure for like another year or two and for a budget phone. I think that's good. It's nothing compared to like the se2, but still the a71 is going to be lasting for a while and, like I said before, both of them have the same pros and cons when it comes to the raw software.

It's still bloated. Furthermore, it still has a lot of features built in, but I would still recommend putting on a custom launcher on both these devices and kind of going from there. I always found that gives me the best experience in terms of you know a skinned version of android like these two, so in terms of the software that pretty much covers it up now, let's go and hit on the performance of both, and I'll. Tell you the specs real, quick, the Samsung Galaxy a71 has a Qualcomm snapdragon, 730 processors, an outscore CPU and arena 618 GPU, and six gigs of ram on that base model and eight x ram on that top tier model. In this specific case, I do have the base model phone where the galaxy s20 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 865 chipset, outscore, CPU and arena 650, GPU and 8 gigs of ram there's only one model of the galaxy s20.

So let's go and see which one is the better phone between this two okay. Now that we're back, let me go ahead and clear out all the apps in the background, which I think they're already clear on the a71 okay, how to clear them on the s20. Let's go to the play store three two one: okay, galaxy s20, far faster the a71 a little behind it, but you can see in the scrolling speeds it is noticeably faster on the galaxy s20 than on the a71. That's a pretty big important thing to keep in mind when I'm hopping out of these. Like this, they both kind of seem the same.

I don't really think one is way faster than the other one. At that phone call three two one s20 is so much faster messages. Three two one uh kind of the same on both browser. Okay, they both kind of look the same there too camera three two ones. It was kind of faster to get into the UI elements on the s20 than on the a71 galaxy store 321.

I guess we got into this panel faster than on that panel on the a71, and I do have a bunch of these third-party apps. We can get into and do Facebook three two one, and I think the a71 may have gotten there a little faster. It was very close on both Netflix three two one, and we still have a little of pop-up on the a71 there. I don't know why that happens, but it is what it is. Temple run two three two one, and it looks like the s20- was way faster to get into the loading panel, and I think the s20 is going to be the faster one, a71 a little behind still nothing too crazy, but I would still give the edge to the s20 it got into that panel way faster, as you can see, okay getting through these things, let's get into some gameplay see if they mess up at all, and I'm expecting it to be about the same.

I don't really think there's going to be that big of a difference when it comes down to it, but still loading speed was faster on the galaxy s20 for sure. Now, let's go and load up snake versus blocks. Three two one and okay, both are in this loading panel. About the same time, the s20 wasn't noticeably faster there for sure gameplay wise. They look about the same here too, as you can see.

Okay, I don't know what just happened on this phone, but that was very, very weird, BFA, three, two one: okay, faster on the galaxy s20 for sure the a71 loaded up right there, too, and again scrolling through scrolling back. They look kind of the same, and we can do it across the road three two one, and it's looking to me that the galaxy s20 was a little faster, but we keep getting in these random panels. I don't know why this keeps happening. Okay, we'll go and click allow. I don't know why those panels keep happening, but it is what it is.

There's nothing going to do about it and gameplay-wise it's a pretty basic game. That's not really too super intensive, so they're both going to be kind of about the same. There too, we do stack three two one, okay same pop-ups on both, but the pop-up was a little faster on the galaxy s20 right there, I'm going to end it off with the real racing. Three two one and actually the a71 seemed to load into it. Faster there in the specific load-up panel, which was fascinating and actually the a71, maybe the faster one here who knows at least got into that real racing through.

Oh, they were actually about the same there. They were almost identically, the same which was fascinating. So I think when it comes down to the performance aspect of it and the loading of speeds and everything, I would probably give the edge to the galaxy s20 for being the faster phone, but the a71 is still super impressive for it being you know a budget phone, and even you know, being a little behind that's 20 for sure. So in terms of the performance and everything that pretty much covers it up now, let's go and hit on the cameras, like I said before, quadruple camera setup on the 871, 64 megapixels, wide 12, megapixel, ultra-wide 5, megapixel macro and then 5 megapixel depth sensor. The galaxy s20 has a 12 megapixel wide 64, megapixel telephoto and then a 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor.

Now, in terms of the camera quality in the galaxy a71, it really wasn't too bad. You can do 4k at 30, which is really cool. You do have that ultra white sensor, which is really cool, but you do have that macro lens which, in that depth sensor, which I don't really think, adds crazy functionality. It's pretty cool to have it, but I don't think it's like anything brag worthy, whereas on the s20 you do have a better camera setup, but the UI is still perfect too. You have a ton of features built into here.

As you can see, you have you know pro mode. You have micro, whatever that is. You have a ton of different things here too, that you can go and maneuver through the settings with but, like I said, the video quality seems to be good enough too for a budget phone. I think it's pretty good and, like I said before, you have a lot of different settings within here too, so you can change the rear, video size, and it's pretty much the same UI that you're already kind of familiar with, but for a budget phone I think it's a pretty decent camera, but you already know for my boys with the galaxy s20. This is the far superior camera.

This is one of the best cameras out there. Not only can you do 4k 860, which is already better than the a71, but you can also do 8k video on the Samsung Galaxy s20 as well. That is something you do not have the capability with on the Samsung Galaxy a71. Now another cool thing is, you do have the options you know you have way more options on the Samsung Galaxy s20. In my opinion, I don't know why I just hopped out of the camera, but within one UI 2.5, which the a71 should be getting at some point. We do have this pro video mode now, which is really cool.

So if we're going to take videos and everything we have a lot more functionality, I'm sure the a71 will be getting it at some point, but the fact that we already have it on the s20 is really, really cool. So, in my opinion, camera quality is better on the Samsung Galaxy s20 for multiple different reasons, but having that ability of shooting the 8k video of having these really nice photos and having that additional telephoto lens is really cool on the Samsung Galaxy s20. So when it comes down to it, that's 20 definitely one's in terms of the camera department, landing it off with the battery life. The Samsung Galaxy s7 has that 4 500 mm battery, the Samsung Galaxy s20 has a 4 000 William hour battery, and this is the one area where the a71 really shines at. I feel like because of that bigger battery size.

You are getting a far superior phone on the a71 than on the galaxy s20, which is a huge highlight. I really do like that, and I really do think battery size is king, and it's one of its biggest assets for sure the s20 has pretty good battery life too. I'm not gonna lie, but I feel like at the end of the day, the a71 is probably the winner when it comes down to that and to kind of sum up the video and to answer the question you know which phone should you pick up? Furthermore, I'll, be completely honest if you have all the money in the world, even if you don't have all the money in the world, the galaxy s20 is the better way to go. Furthermore, I would recommend even waiting out and picking up the s20 later on. If you cannot afford it right now, then, to hurry up and quickly pick up an a71, I'm sure you already have a phone right now, but the s20 will keep you updated for so long.

It's a really, really good phone. You can't really go wrong with it and I think if you have to go for it, the s20 is the best way to go, but the a71 is a pretty decent phone too. I don't think it's bad, but the s20 definitely is the far superior one when it comes down to it. So that's really pretty much it if you guys have any other questions or anything.
