Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in 2021 - (Still Worth It?)

Is, the Samsung Galaxy note 9 worth buying in 2021 well in this video we're about to find out hey everybody. This is Andre here covering for Kevin on the Kevin breeze channel, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Samsung Galaxy note.9. these days, you can get this phone unlocked for GSM and Verizon carriers for more information on price and availability of the device be sure to check the link in the description now, this phone was released in august 2018. How worth it is it in 2021 we're about to find out this phone comes with a 6.4 inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440p and a PPI of 516. The aspect ratio is 18.5 by 9, and it has an eighty-three point: four percent screen to body ratio so overall, very thin, bezels and lots of screens with this phone we have an eight megapixel front facing camera and a two megapixel iris sensing camera. The iris scanner is a really cool feature.

I don't know a lot of phones that actually have this feature so, whether you use it or not, it is definitely a unique and cool thing to have now. This phone has 128 gigabytes of internal storage with SD card expansion, which is really great amount of storage. I personally like to say that 64 gigabytes is a great minimum starting point as far as internal storage goes and having double. That is definitely nice, whether you use the phone for basic activities and take a lot of pictures and videos or you use big apps with a lot of data or maybe even a combination of both the way I like to think of it, the more storage you can have the better, and this definitely gives you a lot of storage, especially if you're looking at phones that are made these days around a similar price range.128 gigabytes is definitely a great amount of storage. So right now the phone has everything that I personally use on a daily basis downloaded onto it.

All of this stuff is 25 gigabytes, which is definitely a considerable amount of data, and this phone still has a lot of storage available. This is definitely a plus if you do any sort of content creation or photo editing, there's for sure going to be a lot of space on this phone for you and if you do run out of space. If you have a lot of things on your phone, then you can always use the micro SD card expansion to get even more storage out of it. So as far as that goes, this is definitely one of the strengths of this device. Now this phone has wireless charging as well as face unlock and a fingerprint scanner, and as discussed before, it also does have an iris scanner, which is a really neat feature to have.

The fingerprint scanner is located on the back right here in a pretty convenient positioning. I must say this is definitely an upgrade from the note8. The note8 had a really weird fingerprint scanner that was right next to the camera. When you used that one it made it really easy to accidentally touch the camera, but with this scanner, it's positioned in a great spot right here. Your index finger is naturally going to rest near it anyway, so it's really easy to use and definitely an upgrade from the last one.

Let's go ahead and give it a try. Now that was pretty fast. Let's try it one more time, as you can see, this fingerprint scanner, just like the last one, is very responsive and fast. In fact, not a lot's changed as far as that goes, but at the same time it's a lot more conveniently placed than the fingerprint scanner of the note, 8, and you're not going to accidentally touch your camera, while you're trying to unlock your phone. In addition to that, this phone also does have faced unlock and an iris scanner.

I've never used the iris scanner myself personally, but I'm assuming it works pretty much like face unlock. Both features are really nice to have and gives you a lot of options to conveniently unlock your phone. We got a dual camera set up here with a 12, megapixel rear camera and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens. Now it is a bit of a disappointment that there's not an ultra-wide camera on this as well. That's a feature that phones these days, even the really cheap ones do have, but at the same time, although most brand-new phones nowadays do have ultra-wide cameras, it took apple until the iPhone 11 to even put an ultra-wide camera on their phones, and this phone is about the same age as the iPhone 10s, and this phone is about the same age as the iPhone 10s.

It was released around a similar time. So in comparison, it's not really that big a deal seeing that this phone's main competitors didn't have ultra-wide either, but by today's standards most phones do have ultra-wide. So if that's something that's important to you, then you might want to keep that in mind. That being said, a telephoto lens is really cool, and it's not a feature that you see too often nowadays, so that is also great. Taking a look at the camera now.

This is the regular camera mode and then to get that telephoto view, you can press this button right here, and it zooms in a bit now. This phone does have many modes on it, including portrait mode and for portrait mode on this phone you're going to want to hit the live, focus right here and that'll. Take you to the portrait mode with those classic blurred out backgrounds. Now this works on the front camera as well as the rear camera. Let's give that front camera a try now.

So, as you can see, this is the front facing camera, and we are in portrait mode. One thing I really like about this phone's portrait mode is: you can control the blur of the background? So if you want it to be more intense, you can make it like that, or you can make it more subtle. Overall, the portrait mode of this phone is perfect and compared to a lot of phones at the price that you can currently get this phone for. It's going to be hard to find one. That's actually better just doing a quick test of the video mode of this phone.

We are shooting in 4k at 60 frames per second also keep in mind the audio quality of the device. So, as you can see, that was the video mode of the phone. It does shoot in 4k up to 60 frames per second, which is really nice, but also keep in mind that the resolution of the screen is 1440p, so you're not going to be able to view it in 4k, even though it can shoot in that resolution, the audio quality was also pretty decent but honestly for a flagship phone. I personally expected it to be a little better. It sounded kind of fuzzy and distorted, whereas a lot of flagship phones of this year are definitely better now compared to a lot of more entry-level smartphones, like say, a brand-new phone that you would get at this current price.

It might not be too bad, but compared to a flagship phone, especially one like the Galaxy Note 9, which has been around for a while, but it's definitely not that old. I would personally expect the audio quality of the phone to be a little better. That being said, if you use headphones a lot or some sort of speaker, then it's really not going to make any difference at all, but at the same time, if you tend to do content consumption, sometimes without headphones or a speaker, then you're definitely going to notice this, and it might be a little disappointing to you now internally we're getting six gigabytes of ram with the Qualcomm snapdragon 845 processors. I ran a geek bench 5 benchmark test on this phone, and it came back with a single core score of 510 and a multi-core score of 21.86. Now this is a very powerful device.

If you're only using a phone for making calls sending text messages, taking some photos and doing some light internet browsing, then this is probably going to be a lot more than you need. You definitely don't need six gigabytes of ram to make a phone call, so, although a high-end device might be enjoyable still, you're really not going to be using it to its full potential in that situation. Now, if you're doing more heavy content consumption, if you're doing photo and video editing and gaming, then that's where this device's power is really going to come into play. This is definitely a powerful device made for more high-end activities and, if you're doing any of those or if you use your phone for work, often, then this is definitely going to be a plus for you to have a device this powerful. Now this phone has a 4 000 William hour battery that supports 15 watt fast charging, which is great.

The battery life is going to be very strong and being able to support fast charging is great, as well you're going to be able to charge up a lot faster too. The phone does run on android 10, which is great. A lot of these older flagship phones only run on android, 8 or 9, which is usually one of the main benefits the more entry-level brand-new phones have over them. But since this phone isn't really that old, you get a similar price advantage with buying a used flagship phone, but you also get a much newer version of android than a lot of those older phones, but keep in mind that while this might be the case now, this is still an older phone that was released in 2018. So as with any older model phone flagship or not, it is eventually, sooner or later, going to stop offering updates, and you're not gonna, be able to get the newest version of android.

So if getting the newest version of the software is very important to you, then you might end up a little disappointed with this device in the future. But now that we've gone over the various specs of the phone, let's take a look at the hardware up top. Here we got the slot for the micro SD card and the sim card, and on the very right you can see right here we have the noise-canceling microphone and then, of course, right here on the top front bezel we have the earpiece and then right here. If you can see it, we have our front-facing camera, and here I believe this is the iris scanner. Again, it's a real neat feature to have.

I personally don't use it, but the fact that it's there is just really cool to me now on the bottom of the phone we have a three and a half millimeter headphone jack, an USB charging port, the microphone and the speaker and, of course, there's the stylus right here now on the left side of the phone, we have a volume up button, a volume down button and a Bixby button. Now, I'm personally not a big fan of the Bixby button. There are lots of other ways to activate Bixby if you even use it at all, and I feel like it's just an unnecessary button and if you don't use it, it'll get super annoying when you accidentally press it in it takes you to some different screen. I personally don't like it. It's just one of those unnecessary features, that's supposed to make things more convenient, but instead makes them less convenient.

But if you do use Bixby, it could be a plus now on the right side of the screen right here we have our power button, and it's very easy to press and on the back we have our camera setup, our flash and, of course, the fingerprint scanner- definitely a big improvement from the note 8 that had that weird fingerprint scanner right next to the camera. I don't quite know what the logic behind that was, but this one again is very fast and responsive, and I think if you get this phone you'll find it a lot more convenient. Overall, the build of the phone is great. You can tell by holding it that it's a flagship phone made of very high quality materials. The back is made of a glossy material and, even though it's made of a glossy material, those usually have a lot of fingerprints that show up on them, but this one, even though the phone does have its fair share of fingerprints right now, you can't really tell you have to be in a very specific lighting to see them at all, and it's really nice now, in conclusion, is this phone worth buying in 2021? I would say: yes, it's definitely still worth buying in 2021, this phone has the powerful processor and the high-end features that you would expect from a flagship phone even by today's standards.

Not only does it have the high-end capabilities of flagship phones today, but it also is a lot less expensive. You're. Definitely going to find this phone for way below retail, and you'll be able to get a good deal on it. The only drawback to this phone is that, since it's a little older, the battery might not be in the same condition that you would find in a brand-new phone aside from that. As time goes on, android stops supporting updates for phones and since this phone was released in 2018 in the future, you're probably not going to get the latest updates of android, but other than that.

This phone is a great device with high-end capabilities and is still a great value in 2021. But I hope you guys enjoyed the video if you did be sure to leave a thumbs up and subscribe, and I will see you in the next one.
