Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Galaxy S21 Camera Comparison

How's it going here welcome back to yet another camera comparison. Video. Today I've got the galaxy a72 up against the s21 and ever since the galaxy a7 several years ago, I always felt that the a7 and now a70 series phones have always provided a very good competitor to the higher end and much more expensive s, series phones and much lower prices. And so you go back on my channel. You can see one of my first popular camera. Comparisons was the galaxy a7 up against the s7 at the time, and it gave it a very good run for its money, so figure.

Why not try out the galaxy a72 and see if it continues in that tradition and still competes very well against the now s21? And so both these phones are both running android 11, one UI 3.1, the a72 is on the march security or April security patch and the s21 is on the May security patch. It is now May 2021, so they're, both fairly updated and so go ahead and check out all the photos and videos I'm going to show you in both the good and low light conditions, because I want to see which of these two are going to be the best for you, and I'll. Let you know at the end, which one I prefer, which one I thought did better here, but go ahead and take a look at the photos and videos, and let me know at the end which one you personally preferred so hey everyone, I'm in the park, testing the video on the rear facing cameras of the galaxy a72 and s21, starting with the ultraviolet cameras on each 4k.30 frames per second- and one thing to note- is that the a72 does not have stabilization at 4k. So keep that in mind as you're looking at this, but I'll pan around. So you can see what it looks like here with this ultra angle, lens, and I'll go ahead and move into the main lens.

So it's good that you can actually switch between the lenses while actively recording on both. So there is the main lens on each phone here again I'll pan around. To give you a feel for what that looks like here on the main lens on each, and I'll go ahead and pan over to the right, and we'll test zoom here on that cell tower, and I'll go into three times: telephoto on the a72 and three times telephoto on the s21 and let's move into max 12 times digital on the a72, and we got max 12 times digital on the s21 as well, and I'll go ahead and back this out on each so one times on the a72 and on the s21. Let's test autofocus here on the post. So first of the a72 focus right up and refocus away, one more time focused up and refocus away, one more time, so it'll eventually focus up, but it's not really the fastest or snappiest autofocus.

Here on the a72 there we go and now on the s21, so immediate autofocus there on the s21 same thing here again, so really snappy autofocus on the s21 and let's go ahead, and we'll test stabilization and here's where you're going to see the a72 not stabilize that 4k. While the s21 is so, you can see what the difference looks like here between the two at 4k as we walk around, and we'll pull up here, and I'll pan around into the trees and up into the sky. So I can see what the picture quality looks like here into the changing light, all right, so here's some video at 1080p on each phone. I want to show this because the a72 is stabilized here at 1080p, so I just want to give you some footage at full HD as well to test the stabilization on the a72 and compare that to the stabilization on the s21. So I'm just going to walk around here.

So you can see what it looks like, and I'll pan around here while walking. So you can see how the video quality changes with the lighting, how it handles that exposure. As well as what this stabilization is looking like here, so just a quick test at 1080p to test out the stabilization on the a72 foreign, do hey everyone. Here's some video from the front facing camera on the a72 and s21, I'm shooting at 4k 30 frames per second and again, the a72 is not stabilized at 4k, while the s21 is so. I just want to show you some of this footage here, and I think the a72 should probably be showing less crop, because it does not have that stabilization, while the s21 does at 4k here so again.

Obviously, I'm outdoors again starting out in the shade to give you some feel, for it looks like in more ideal lighting conditions here when they're much more. Even it doesn't stress out the image quality of the cameras here as much, but I'll go ahead and pan around. So you can see what it looks like into the changing light and as I pound this way, you can see. The sun is behind me and the s21, at least in the viewfinder, is doing a lot better job at evenly, exposing the whole photo or image. While the a72 is really blowing out the sky back there I'll keep panning around, and you can see what that looks like here and as I pan up, the s21 still looks very well evenly.

Exposing that background with that bright light and the a72 is struggling a bit. So let's go ahead and walk, so I can show you the stabilization here on each and how the a72 compares when it's not stabilized to the stabilization here on the s21. So there's some front-facing footage at 4k here on both phones, everyone so here is 1080p full HD on both phones here from the front-facing cameras. I just want to show you this footage, because the a72 is stabilized here at 1080p. So just want to compare that stabilization with how the s21 is looking here, also at 1080p, full HD, so just want to do a quick test while walking as well as, as well as show you some footage here on what it looks like here in full HD on both of these front-facing cameras, hi everyone.

So here's some low light, video from the a72 and the s21, and we're starting out with the ultra-wide angle lens on each. This is at 4k 30 frames per second and again, the a72 does not have stabilization here at 4k, while the s21 does, so again I'll just pan around here. So you can see the differences here in these ultrawide angle, cameras and because there is stabilization on the s21, there's going to be more of a crop on it right now. So let's go ahead and move into the main lens on each so a72 and s21, and we'll check out how these lenses compare here, main lenses 4k. You can see the definition in the trees and how that's picking it up, because it's much darker than what these cameras are, showing they're, actually able to lift the shadows and use some definition in those trees.

So if you pan over here to the right, you'll see how they do into that really bright streetlight and again Samsung. These cameras are flaring that light out more than some other phones for whatever reason, but it is what it is and let's go ahead and pan out this way, and we'll do some stabilization tests, and this is where you're going to see the a72, of course, a lot less stable, with no stabilization versus s21, which is, but we'll also test how these cameras handle the varying light conditions. So obviously that was very well lit and, as you walk this way around the corner, it's going to get much darker. So we'll see how these cameras handle much darker situations here and at least in the viewfinder. The s21 is brightening things up a little more, but at the expense of more noise than I'm seeing in the viewfinder on the a72 and out here right now, it's pretty dark.

There's just these lights here on the walkway to illuminate things, I'll go ahead and pan up into the night sky and again in the viewfinder. The a72 is more true to life, although that could be different in post and right now. The s21 has got a lot of noise because it's trying to brighten things up in the sky, and we'll go ahead and pan this way with a little more light down this alloy, and you can see what that looks like here, so that is a 4k low light test on both phones, okay, so we're back with the both cameras here at 1080p, full HD. I want to do more of a stabilization test, turn low light, because now the a72 is stabilized in this 1080p footage. So we can compare that to the stabilization on the s21 here and again, the s71 is brightening things up a lot more than a 72, at least what I'm seeing through the viewfinder right now, and so hopefully, this gives you a bit of idea of how much brighter, maybe the 1080p footage is than the 4k footage, and how that stabilization looked between these two phones here at 1080p, full HD downtown.

I got that heat, let's go so ever so: here's a front-facing camera test and sort of low light. Obviously this is optimal lighting conditions with a lot of light on, but this is at 4k.30 frames per second, and I turned stabilization off on the s21 so that we can get rid of the crop, and you can see the full field of view here on the a72 and on the s21, since the a72 is not stabilized in 4k either, and so I just want to give you a quick shot here in 4k of this scene here I'll pan to the right and to the left of me. So you can kind of see what I'm dealing with here and how that looks here in 4k. So I'm going to stop the video, and I'll come back, and we'll wrap this up in 1080p. I just want to show you the 4k, because 4k will tend to be maybe a little darker a little different from 1080p footage, especially in low light, so I'll come right back every time back.

This is full HD 1080p footage, and this is going to be stabilized, so there might be more of a crop than what you're seeing in 4k, but again starting out in some really nice, pretty well lit conditions here, and I'll pan to the right and the left again. So you can kind of see what this looks like in 1080p versus the 4k footage you just saw, but let's go ahead and walk because I want to test the stabilization here now. The a72 is stabilized here in 1080p and compare that with what that looks like here on the s21, so I'll walk from that pretty well lit area and as we move over here, that's going to get a bit darker, I'm going to also have a fountain to my right. That's going to provide some background noise, so we can test out the microphones and how that competes with the sound of my voice here and let's pull up here, and I'll pan all the way around. So you can see the really bright streetlights behind me and how these front facing cameras handle those back.

There a72 seems to be flaring that out a little more than the s21, but hopefully you enjoyed all the photos and videos here between the a72 and the s21. So let me know what you think, which one did you prefer, but as far as what I think, I think that I thought the a72. Actually did really well and held up against the s21 in a lot of situations and in fact, after looking at some photos, the a72 actually can look more natural to the s21 and some of those photos as well. But overall, I still think the s91 did better. It's more consistently provides better focus, better detail in more of the photos than the a72 does, and the front-facing cameras on the s21 are a lot better.

It processes the images a lot cleaner, a lot more balanced, especially in the background, and not blowing a lot of that out when it's into some brighter light, and I think even the video is a little crisper as well, but all in all for the price. I think the a72 did really well probably better than it better than expect against the s21 there uh. So do. Let me know what you think. Those are my brief thoughts here.

If I had to pick one overall as a better camera system, I'll take the s21, but again the a72 did very well, and I think for the price. I don't think I'm gonna really go wrong. I don't really think it's uh that much worse honestly, and in fact, if you like a little more natural colors as far as Samsung goes, I think the s72 actually did a little better there in some photos as well. So do let me know your thoughts, any other questions or comments, leave them down below, and I'll try to answer what I can, but, as always thanks for watching you.
