Samsung Galaxy A21 vs Samsung Galaxy A51 - Who Will Win?

Which is better the Samsung Galaxy, a 21 or the Samsung Galaxy a 51. Well in this video we're going to find out hi everyone. This is Kevin here coming at you with my comparison between the Samsung Galaxy, a 21 in the Samsung Galaxy, a 51. Now both of these phones are relatively new to the market. The 21 was launched in June 2020, whereas the 51 was launched in January 2020, and, what's really awesome too, is that both these phones are being offered either factory unlocked or you can get them from a variety of different US carriers. Now to see the most up-to-date pricing for the unlocked variants of these phones definitely take a look at the links in the video description as I'm sure pricing will go down over time, but, of course the 51 is the more premium counterpart of the two the 21 generally is less expensive, but in this video I'm really hoping to see which phone is more worth the money.

Is it worth spending extra for the 51? Well, that's what I'm really curious about finding out now. The first thing that we're going to talk about are the displays now, both phones feature 6.5 inch displays, so they are very large. You can see here they are side by side and the displays, despite being the same size, don't necessarily mean the phones are the same size. The a20 one is the larger device of the two, and it really seems like the bigger size of the phone is all due to bigger bezels all around the bezels on the sides and top are bigger, and the bezel on the bottom is bigger as well. So you are definitely getting a more slim down profile here with the 8051 and the device does look and feel a lot more premium.

Now, as far as the display technology goes, there's a big difference when it comes to that as well. So, with the Samsung Galaxy, a 21 we're getting an IPS LCD, whereas we're getting a Super AMOLED display with the 51 I, do have the brightness set to 100% on both phones- and you can probably see already just through the camera here, how much brighter the display is with the 51, and it seriously is a way better display. No doubt about that, in fact, with the age 21 we're getting a 720p display things, you look decently crisp and clear, but with the a51, things are dramatically bettered, so we are getting 1080p here. This looks really awesome and the a21 does feature a PPI of 270 compared to a PPI of 405 with the 851 and both phones do feature a 20 by 9 aspect ratio. Now up top here.

Both devices do you feature hole punches for the front-facing cameras, but the hole for the a21 is certainly a lot bigger than that of the 51, and it's situated off to the left side of the device versus the vs. The center, with the 51 now I personally prefer the way it is with the 851, not only because it is smaller in general, but also because it's centered its way less intrusive compared to the 21 and I. Definitely do prefer this form factor now up top here with the a21 we're getting a 13 megapixel front-facing camera compared to a 32 megapixel front-facing camera with the 51. Another difference between these two devices is the amount of internal storage that we're getting so with the a21, we're getting 32 gigabytes of internal storage and with the 51 we're getting 128 gigabytes, so we're getting four times the amount of internal storage with the 851 compared to the a21. Now both phones do offer micros card expansion, and that will definitely come in handy with the a21, but still nothing beats having the good old-fashioned built-in internal storage.

So I'm really glad that we are getting that here with the 51 now neither of these two phones feature wireless charging, but they do both feature fingerprint sensors, so we'll give it a try first with the a21, so that was pretty fast, they're very accurate and then with the 51. The fingerprint sensor is actually built into the display. So that's very fast too, but the a21 does have a faster fingerprint sensor in general, but at the same time it's not like it's bad or anything with the 51. Now both phones do also feature face, unlock, which is really nice really glad to see that as that's kind of rare nowadays with budget Android smartphones. Now on the back of both phones, we have the camera modules.

Both devices do feature quad, camera setups, but things are a little different. So with the a21, we are getting more of a beam pod format compared to a rectangular camera module with the a51. Now, with the a21 we're getting a 16 megapixel main camera, an 8 megapixel, ultra wide-angle camera, a 2 megapixel depth-sensing camera and a 2 megapixel macro camera compared to the 51 where we're getting a 48, megapixel main camera, a 12 megapixel, ultra wide-angle camera, a 5 megapixel depth-sensing camera and a 5 megapixel macro camera, so in general, expect to get better photo and video quality with the 51 compared to the 21. Here's how things look through the viewfinder than, both devices through the main cameras? Now we can also switch over to the front-facing cameras here and here's how things look. I actually have Beauty mode on I believe, so I'm going to turn that off on the 51 Beauty mode is off.

Ok, that's how I actually look but yeah definitely we're getting way better. Front-Facing photo and video quality with the 851 compared to the 21. It is going to be a dramatic noticeable improvement and then taking a look at the ultra-wide cameras in both phones. You can see that they both fit about the same amount of content in the frame, maybe a little more at the 51, but also photos are gonna, look way better with the ultra-wide with the 51 and then, if you want to check out the macro cameras on both phones, you just go over to the more tab here and then tap on macro, and then you have to get really close to the object to take your photos. So, overall, there's really no comparison.

The 51 is going to give you better photo and video quality in general. That being said, though, the 21 still does do a perfect job. I definitely recommend checking out my full video reviews for both phones to get a better idea of the photo of the to quality from them. Now we are getting portrait mode with, of course, the rear cameras, but also the front camera, so that's great to see as well now as far as the internals go with the 21 we're getting three gigabytes of RAM compared to four gigabytes of RAM with the 51. Now there are some others very of the 8051 that features six, but it seems like most, people buy the 4 gigabyte variant of the phone and then, as far as the processors go, there are some differences as well, so the 821 features the MediaTek hello p35, whereas the 51 we're getting the Samsung Enos 9, 6, 1 1 now I did run a benchmark test here with both phones and I will show you the score from that right now.

But overall the 51 is much faster of a phone. You can see. The score is way better here, but I got an overall score of 1-0 4 4 3 2, the 21 compared to a score of one seven, seven, five, nine four with the 51 now stay tuned to later on in the video as I will do a side-by-side speed test comparison with these two phones. Now there are some differences when it comes to video recording with these two devices, so the 821 features 1080p as the resolution and the 51 can actually take 4k video. So that's really cool and definitely a nice bonus there with a 51, and I would say in general, the 51 is way better when it comes to taking video with the quality in general and another cool thing.

I like a lot about the 51 is that it has a very good microphone inside as well. In fact, for a while now until I switched over to the Galaxy S 10, which I'm using to record this video I was actually using my a 51 earlier this year to record quite a few of my videos and the results were actually perfect. No one even noticed that I was using the 51 and when I'm saying that I mean like not in a bad way. People are actually saying how good the video quality looked and then, when I mentioned them that I used a 51 record the video they were really surprised. Now, both devices feature beefy 4000 million power, internal batteries with 15 watt fast charging, so that is really awesome, and both phones feature Android 10 with Samsung's 1 UI 2.0 skin. So you are getting very similar software experience here with the phones and in general, the user experience here is very similar to a variety of other Samsung smartphones as well.

Now taking a closer look at the hardware here, already talked a lot about the front panels on the two devices. Definitely what the a51 is, the better looking phone of the two you can see how much smaller that bottom bezel is compared to the a21 and then overall, it's just better. It's a better display, I mean a way better display. That's for sure, so I like that, a lot now I'm taking a look on the left side of the two phones. They both feature a slot for the micro SD card and SIM card, and then you can see that it is an all plastic build with both devices.

We have this material on the back of the 51 that Samsung calls glass stick, but it's really just plastic. It's like a high quality plastic, but that's fine, especially when most people are gonna, be using a case with their phones. Anyway, then flipping over to the right side of the two phones. They both have the volume button and power button, then, on the top. They both have the noise-cancelling microphone and then on the bottom.

Furthermore, they both of the speaker, USB, C, port for charging and data transfer, microphone and 3.5, millimeter, headphone jack and then taking a look at the back. I already talked about the differences when it comes to the camera modules, but you can see with the a21. We do have the fingerprint sensor, and then we have the Samsung logos on both phones. Now, this color that the a21 is in is a pretty awesome, piano black look and then this particular color of the 8051 is called prism, crush blue, so I think it looks really cool as well. It has kind of a neat design on it, and it also has a bit of a rainbow tint.

But let's now do a speed test comparison between these two phones, so we're gonna start by pulling up the camera apps on both. So one two three go, and it looks like it was about a tie with both devices. Let's now go to Google Chrome on both phones, alright, one two three go, and it looks like it's about a tie with Google Chrome as well. Now you can see, for example, right here in the side-by-side how much brighter the display is with the a51, and that is definitely due to the phone having an AMOLED display. You're gonna, get better colors, brighter images and better viewing angles in general, and its really great I mean videos really pop and look amazing on there, and the fact that it is 1080p makes things even better.

Let's now go to yahoo. com on both phones. One two three go looks like the a21 is a little quicker at pulling up Yahoo in this test. Let's now go to engadget. com one two three go: it looks like the a21 is also quicker, pulling up and gadget, although it looks like the 8051 did catch up and the ad did appear first, with the fifty-one, so I suppose I'm going to have to give this one to the fifty-one out of these two phones now scrolling, it's pretty smooth on both phones seems like the fifty-one does perform better, though when it comes to scrolling.

Let's now go to this link right here, one two three go, and it looks like the fifty-one was a little quicker at pulling up this link, but not extremely quicker. So that is very interesting, so in general, I would say that the fifty-one is going to be the faster phone of the two. However, it does seem like the twenty-one is doing a little better than the benchmark scores would indicate. So that's certainly a good thing now. Another thing you have to keep in mind here is that the a21 only has to power a 720p display.

So, in theory that does put a little less of a burden on the processor compared to the fifty-one where it has to power. This really great-looking 1080p display. So in conclusion, which phone is the better choice of the tube, so the Samsung Galaxy 851, as you can probably imagine by watching this video- is better than the twenty-one in the literally every way, there's really nothing about the twenty-one that makes it better than the fifty-one. So really it comes down to the price that you can get these phones at now. That does differ quite a bit.

One thing I do want to mention is that Samsung is selling an official u. s. unlocked variant of the 51 for 399 and definitely do not pay 399 for this phone is not worth it. However, if you get the international unlocked variant of the 51, you can get that for well under 300 bucks and that's well worth it, and you're literally getting the same phone as the 399 counterpart. So don't fall for the tricks.

There definitely go for the cheaper international variants of the phone, because it's literally going to be the same thing. The only difference is that, if you are with Sprint or Verizon, you might have a better experience with the US unlock variant. However, I've heard a lot of people say that Verizon does work perfectly fine with the international variant of the phone and then for the a21. I feel like this phone, mostly is only worth getting if you get it through a carrier at a very good discount, because I know that this phone is pretty much specifically designed for the carriers, and it's designed to be like a switcher device where you can get it for free or $50 or a hundred dollars. Basically, carriers are going to use this device to lure people in to get them to switch into that carrier, and they're going to offer it for perfect discounts, and they might also offer perfect discounts in the a21 to entice people to stay with their current carrier.

So there's probably gonna, be a special upgrade price for this phone as well. Now I do know that the unlocked price for the phone at least right now it seems like it's gonna, be 250, and it's definitely very overpriced to 250, so don't pay 250 for the a21. That's for sure, if you're going to pay 250 for the a21, then you're better off paying like — 75 for the unlocked a 51 you're going to get a much better experience overall, and I feel like I've, already gone into so much detail in this video, showing the various benefits with the 51 that I really don't have to do any further convincing, but I hope you enjoyed this comparison between the Samsung Galaxy, a 21 versus the Samsung Galaxy. A 51 I do also want to mention that the 21 is not a bad phone. It's just that the 51 is way better.

So hopefully that makes sense, but I hope you enjoyed the video, give it a thumbs up, make sure to sub to the channel. My name is Kevin and I will see you in the next one.
