Redmi Note 9 Review - Still the Budget KING!

Hi guys its Frankie from Frankie Tech good to see you guys again, and I'm here, with my review of the Redmi Note 9 now, full disclosure guys Xiaomi, sent me this review unit. Last week and I have to say it is a terrific phone. Could it be the budget king of 2020, though that is what I want to answer, and you see I got the forest green version, which is absolutely gorgeous 4 gigs of ram 128, gigs of storage and this phone just went official in Hong Kong as well for 1300 Hong Kong dollars. This variant is the one to eight, which is roughly around 165 to 205 dollars, respectively, incredible prices for a lot of phones, but the question I really want to address is: does this Redmi Note, 9 live up to the hype of its predecessors, the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 8. So let's go down the laundry list. Design display performance, quick audio test share some of my camera samples, Papal action, and then we'll conclude.

Is this the new budget, king of 2020? Let's have a look, but before we do that, let's look at what is inside the box, and here we see the sim ejector tool, the Redmi Note, 9 user guides and the warranty card, and in there is where you will find the CPU case that came with the red vino 9 fits on very nicely and allows you to see this gorgeous forest green color. I do also like the fact that they've included this charging port cover. A very nice touch right there, and here we see the USB a 2, USB cable, and this looks like the global European plug right here, and I'm, pretty sure that this red, Minor 9 is capable of up to 18 watt ass charging. But this charging brick is up to 22.5, so very nice to see they've included that but overall, a pretty basic unboxing, but a very nice box and a very eye-catching design on the front. Indeed, design, 8.9 millimeters thick 199 grams. So it's nice to see one of the larger phones from Xiaomi here actually coming below the 200 gram mark and let's take a quick tour.

We have the IR blaster at the top volume, rocker and power buttons, USB-C, 3.5, millimeter, headphone jack and the speaker grille, and on the back we have this gorgeous forest green color. Now I will say this does feel like more of a hardened plastic, but this plastic does not feel cheap whatsoever. In fact, I think if I gave this phone to someone to try 9 out of 10 would say they think it's Gorilla Glass 5. It just feels that premium in the hand and I just love the shimmering effect of this color. It has a really nice look to it, and you see the squared off camera module red means using on a lot of their phones.

But what is different about this one? We do have a fingerprint scanner on the back, and here we see the bottom bezel. It is a little large, but in person it's not that much bigger than the one we see on the red meat connects. And yes, we do have a punch hole, but it's off to the left side of this phone, but I really won't interfere too much when you're playing games and watching content. Overall, it's a solid design, and I'm absolutely loving this color. Yes, it is not the most premium, build quality of a phone, but I think for the price.

It is very well-designed and the stunning for screen color is definitely one of the reasons why display 6.53 inch IPS LCD- and this is a full HD panel 19 point 5 by 9, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. That is a welcome sight.415 it's of typical brightness and yes, you guys know how I feel typically about LCD's, but considering the price point of this phone I can actually look past the fact this is not AMOLED, but it's still a very bright and very kind of even panel and there's very little ghosting to speak of on this unit, but I think Xiaomi is actually included a pretty solid LCD panel in this phone and once again you can see right here, I'm running it saturated because I like having this kind of really vibrant colors, and they do look very nice on this panel and since it is LCD, it's also far more sharp than what we would see in a typical 1080p AMOLED panel. And so you can see there. The text is just super crisp. Xiaomi, definitely ships better panels than this one, especially their AMOLED panels like on the Redmi 10 x5 g, but I think for the price.

This is a great panel, and you're going to have a great time watching content playing games on this flat panel display with solid viewing angles, and very little of that ghosting, like I mentioned I. Think for most of you, you will enjoy this panel on the Redmi Note on, and here's YouTube playback on the red meat, no 9 single bottom fighting speaker on this phone and in this case I think the placement of the punch hole is actually the best place it could be, especially if you're holding the phone. You know just watching content. You can typically just hide the punch hole with your fingers, and you will not notice it whatsoever and in DRM info another victory here for the Redmi Note on l1, like all shammies global ROM releases out of the box, so great to see here on shimmies budget phones, HD, Netflix out of the box, a welcome sight and talking about performance. The first time here on Frankie tech.

We see the MediaTek hello g85, there's a 12 nanometer process. Chip here are the Geek bench scores, and you can see 349 1300. So if we compare those two kind of some other scores, we see 349 you'll see it's kind of here in the range of a Galaxy Note.8 and the Redmi Note 7. So it is a little above a snapdragon 616, maybe a 665 performance in single core and the same 1314 yeah. Definitely a step above here than the 660 in multi-core.

Now I've had a great experience with atom NCT 820, but that is a 7 nanometer chip, but I've had a decent experience. So far with this g85 and in an tutu with a score of 200 5000, definitely a mid-range chip. Here it is not punching in a flagship territory, but for the price once again, I think it's still pretty solid performance. Overall I do see the occasional stutter here and there. But overall though I think performance is decent, and here you can see I'm on me, UI 11 point 0.4, so this will be getting updated to me. You'd use 12 at some point as well, so I'll definitely need to spend even more time with this chipset playing around with it.

But at this point one weekend I think it's a decent chipset. It's not wowing me like add immensity 820 years and honestly that chipset has been incredible, but I will say that MediaTek is really impressing me a lot more now. In 2020 and shimmies decision to start using more MediaTek chipsets in their phones is really starting to make a lot more sense and talking about battery life. This is an exciting one, guys, five thousand twenty mill ampere capacity on this red mean no 9, so they stepped it up from the Redmi Note 7, I remember which had four thousand mile amperes up full thousand more here. You see the calculated screen on time of six hours 45 minutes, but in my experience this is easily a two-day phone guys and to standby from what I've noticed has been pretty incredible.

This is going to be performing closer to what we've seen on the Men 10 light. Then the Redmi Note a pro or even the regular Redmi Note 8 and with 18 watt fast charging. It should top up pretty quickly but I. Think longevity is the key of this phone, and you're. Definitely going to get it here.

On this Redmi Note 9 and now the audio speaker test single bottom firing speaker on this Redmi, no 9. Let me bring the mic down: let's have a listen. What can I say a pretty decent audio experience? Now, it's obviously not to the level of anything like the 10 pro or the Redmi K 30 pro and I still even think. The read me 10x sounds a bit better, but overall it is a solid speaker, and you should be able to enjoy music and fill a room up with sound with no issue here on this Redmi Note 9 and once again talking about the fingerprint scanner on the back here you see it, and it is a small target. Overall I do wish.

It was a little more recessed, but overall it is a very accurate and very good fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi has nailed this type of fingerprint scanner in the past, and it's no different here. The only issue is that sometimes it is hard to kind of find the place when, because it isn't recessed as much, but when it does work, it works very reliably and Xiaomi has nailed the fingerprint scanner on this phone vibration. Motor is also solid. It's not to the level of the newer ones.

We've seen like on the Redmi K 30 pro, but I still think. Xiaomi has improved it from the previous generation, it's not as harsh and overall for the price. Both the vibration motor and the fingerprint scanner are solid on this phone and talking about the cameras, we have a 48 megapixel Samsung gm1 sensor on this phone, including an 8 megapixel ultra-wide 2, megapixel macro camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. And yes, we have seen at this GM one in the past, it's a bit of an older sensor, but it does offer some pretty pleasing results. And here you see line number 2 from Lego Vol tron and look at that detail there, and I think overall in daylight conditions, it's going to do a solid job and on the front we have a 13 megapixel, selfie camera and on video, this phone is capable of full HD on the back and on the front.

Unfortunately, no 4k video on this Redmi Note 9. So have a look at these Sam guys and hit me up in the comments. What do you think we are facing midi on the Redmi Note 9 gorgeous afternoon here coming to may be 6:00 p. m. in Hong, Kong I'm, just walking around this new complex here in North, Point beautiful trees see it over there, but hit me up in the comments? What do you think- and this is front-facing video on the Redmi Note, 9, shooting in 1080p, 30fps and I'll stop here for a second, a lot of sunset happening over there? So if I turn it this way, I think it blows out, but looking this way definitely see the shadows here, the mics.

How do they sound give me em in the comments? What do you think- and here we go it's time for some pop G action here on the Redmi Note 9, and you see I'm playing this at smooth ultra, that's as high as it goes no extreme setting here on this phone? We have enabled anti-aliasing and disabled auto, adjust graphics and let's get started, and it's time it's time for the classic. Frank Tech swim test just keep swimming, just keep swimming whoa, oh yeah, and at the plane jump with the Molly g52 mc2 a slightly lower level version of what we see on the red meat, NO, no stutters whatsoever. Let's get down to the surface, get some guns get some action. Ok, we're on the ground. Now we got some guns, let's see if we can find some action here, and I found my teammate.

It looks like we're getting shot at now. Take that oh yeah was that kill. Mine I have no idea, but we got him. Let's see if we can get one more, and here you see it on ultra gameplay 40 fps on this G 8500, and we're very close to the action here, and how is this film playing so far cool to the touch guys? I am starting to feel a little of warmth here, but near the camera module, but overall it is so cool to the touch, and we're in a very hot room right now, no a/c close to 27 degrees in this room see someone over there. Oh, man and my teammates are taking all my kills.

Take that Boo ya two kills in a row here and that's how we wrap up this gameplay on the Redmi Note 9, and how is this phone feeling? It is getting a little warm I will admit here near the camera, but it's actually doing a lot better than I expected, considering how warm it is in this room and that we're playing in ultra settings right now, after that, the large immersive display with a great placement for the punch, hole and a very loud bottom firing speaker I, will admit. This is a solid gaming experience here on the Redmi Note 9 easily one of the best gaming experiences on a budget phone in 2020. So that's it for this video and my final verdict here on the Redmi Note: 9: did they nail this phone? Is this now one of the best budget phones of 2020? Absolutely yes, I really do feel that this price range of around 150 to 250 US dollars is where Xiaomi absolutely shines, and this Redmi Note 9 is no different from this gorgeous 4 screen design a solid LCD panel I guess it's LCD, but it still is a decent panel overall good performance here with this MediaTek g85, processor, solid, bottom firing, speakers, terrific battery life easily a two-day phone and maybe more and I- think cameras that, in regular lighting conditions, do a solid job I do wish. We could have seen some different sensors in the place of these, though like a telephoto or even 4k on this phone. But those are the specific nitpicks I would have with the camera experience on this phone, and all of that guys considering the price point that you can pick this phone up now here in Hong, Kong for 1,300, 64gb or 165 US Dollars, and this variant going for around 205 dollars and another incredible feature which I need to mention here before I wrap up is the inclusion you see here of NFC, which means that this Redmi know 9 is offering an amazing feature here in NFC at a very low price, so I really do think.

Xiaomi has nailed it once again. With this red-meat note series, just like the note 7 and the note 8 before it, this Redmi know 9 is offering a lot of phones for a very low price and, if you're looking for the best budget phone in 2020, look no further than this Redmi Note 9, but hit me up in the comments. What are your thoughts on this phone? Do you, like the Redmi Note series? Do you think it's a great budget phone hit me up in the comments I'd love to hear about it, and that's it for this video, if you liked it give me that thumbs up and if you love the content of ranking texts subscribe to the channel hit the bell icon for future updates thanks once again guys for all your support thanks once again to Xiaomi- and this is where I leave you by saying this is Frankie tech signing off have a good one?
