Redmi K40 Pro Plus Review | In-depth | 4K

The Redmi k40 pro plus by Xiaomi, it's been roughly about a week since I had this device, and I've come to the realization that the Redmi k40 pro plus, in particular, is a one of a kind device, even though there are rumors or even confirmed news that Xiaomi plans on other variants to other markets like the mr11i and a mi11x pro, none of them is really going to come with 12 gigabytes of storage, they're all going to have the same specs as this, but then they would have a gigabyte of ram. This still makes the Redmi k40 pro plus the most high end of Redmi devices. So I decided to make a review video about my experiences with the phone for anybody who might be interested in getting one or just curious about it. We've already done the unboxing, and we've seen what comes in the box. There's a 33 watt charger, an USB type, a to c cable and then there's a CPU case. You should see how it's already set to 10 yellow.

I think I might get a proper silicon case or something, let's start with the build. I think this is a really nice device. Um. It comes in three colors, actually there's the black there's the white and then there's this one, which is the aurora. I thought it had an aura effect, but that turns out to be the name actually yeah, and it's really beautiful.

Depending on the angle, you turn into the light reflects in different colors, and it's really, really nice on the left. We have the volume rockers and then the power button, also the fingerprint sensor is built into the power button. So there's now in display one over here, there's now in display one. But then it's over here on the side to the left side is just blank, there's nothing over there being it. We have the same category, it can accommodate up to two NATO sim cards, and then we have the USB type c port, the buttons wiring, because they're actually stereo speakers.

So there's some at the front and there's also a hybrid one near where the earpieces and the build is actually plastic. But then you wouldn't know until you probably use your teeth, it feels really steady. It doesn't feel cheap. The screen is covered with corning gorilla glass 5 at the back too, it can attract fingerprints, but then it's not so visible. Talking about the display.

We have a 1080p super AMOLED flat display it has a 120 hertz, refresh rate and there's hdr102 there's a small chain, but then I can forgive that the only thing I'm not a fan of is the quiet. It has some quite rounded edges having rounded corners kind of takes a little away from the display, but that's not too much of a big deal. I also like that. It's a flat display I've not been uh. A fan of the rounded displays I feel they take some real estate from you.

I watch almost all of my content on mobile devices and when it comes to the aspect, I have nothing to complain about the display. It's really vibrant colors are really deep. Everything looks really, really nice once the video is sharp and Xiaomi has some nifty features, they still add just to improve the viewing experience. If, in case, you don't have a really sharp video there's, this feature, they call um upscale that tries to upscale videos that are less than 720p to 2k so that it makes it kind of bit sharper and then more clearer. Now, that's going on the app skill.

You notice that there's a bit more texture to the shots and then the video becomes slightly sharper, so the feature kind of actually works. The video looks sharper now and yeah. It works, but I don't think it's too much of 2k actually yeah. It just adds some type of sharpness to the video, and it looks better, but it's not so much of a difference like nice and big. There are some other features when viewing video, where Xiaomi adds frames to the video to make it look um smoother.

That is if your video is not that smooth. I haven't really found a video that is slow enough for me to test that one out, but I just suppose it's going to work, but then it's not going to be as flawless as if you had a high fps video at 395 PPI, the display is sharp enough. Uh brightness indoors are bright enough. We are not going to have any issues with um legibility indoors, but outdoors it can get quite dim in direct sunlight, it's still visible, but then I feel it could get much brighter. Considering Xiaomi claims it has a peak brightness of thousand three hundred nits.

I think it should get a lot brighter and uh direct sunlight. Sometimes it kind of gets bright enough to be visible on the direct satellites. I think it's a feature called the sunlight feature, but it doesn't always work in my case, so it's visible outside, but I feel it will get brighter. Now, let's talk about the cameras, this is going to be the majority of the review anyway. The main camera is a 108 megapixel sensor uh.

It takes photos that are being down to 12 megapixels, there's still, however, the one-way mode which you can use to take full resolution. If you want to those, are going to be really large for us and then there's the ultra-wide 8 megapixel ultra-wide, that's a small one here and then there's a 5 megapixel macro sensor. To put it in the simplest of terms, the main camera is impressive, the ultra-wide not so much, and the macro is just okay daytime photos. The main sensor does really, really well I'm really impressed by the photos it takes. I will leave some samples for you to see it has the streets right out of the camera.

It looks really colorful, especially the skies once you have skies, they are going to be blue, no matter what it's a professional thing some might like it. Others might not like it so much, but it is what it is and most of the time it looks good. If you want, you can actually take full resolution.108 megapixels This generates huge files too, with it being such a huge sensor, you get a perfect depth of field, so good that sometimes it becomes somewhat problematic. When you have something that uh say, you are trying to take a really closer shot because it has to narrow a field of full course. You get the center shaft and then the edges start to blur out quickly.

If you want to get this shape, you might have to back up a bit, or you might have to enter into the manual mode. That way, you can set your own full car length and then that will help you with it for the ultra-wide it's helpful when you're trying to get some shots that are just impossible to get with the main camera, because the angle is just not that wide most of the time it takes good photos when it's in daylight, but sometimes it's soft. It's not as sharp as the main camera, and I don't know if I was expecting so much, but I wasn't so impressed by the wide angle. I can see myself probably installing google camera, and it's being my primary camera for the Mac camera. It's just okay.

You can get really, really close to updates and if there's a lot of light, and then you can keep it still, you'll get really nice produce, but it's not something that is going to blow you away. It's just yeah. They are just okay, Marco focus. They are nice enough. Nothing, crazy, not terrible either for human subjects.

The best camera to use is the main one. You can get some really cool photos from it. It has two time zoom and portrait mode, but I wasn't really impressed with the three times when, since this big guitar, it's not optical, there's some lots of sharpness and quality. Here's a shot from the portrait mode, it's okay, but I think it was lacking in contrast and then sharpness you can just edit it and then have it as you want, but straight out of the camera, it's not so impressive. The edge detection is quite good for a phone that does not have a dead sensor.

You find those in the more expensive premium flagships doing this live. I almost forgot to talk about the selfie camera, there's a 20 megapixel selfie camera phone, and it takes um, okay, selfies um. I think they are fine I'll. Just let you be the judge of it. Uh here are some samples fast-forward into the night, and if you are going to take nine photos, your best friend will be the night mode.

I was quite impressed by the night mode as far as it was concerned with the main camera um, the best part about it for me was. I wasn't trying to change the night in today, like some phones radically, but it was just making um the nights just more pleasant and visible. Furthermore, I really like that about it. The best photos you're going to get are from the main camera, of course, and they look really, really good. In my eyes at least again, the ultra-wide kind of lackluster, the night mode algorithm works all right, but then you're not getting the sharpness and then the details I'm used to in the mean, come back.

I guess that's why it's spoiling me when the main camera takes so good of a photo and then uh Oshawa doesn't do such a great job. I see the difference so much when you want to fit a lot into frame. The ultra-wide is the way to go. You can add the sharpness later on, but straight out of the camera. The main camera is the best for night mode.

It still does pretty well with human subjects in the night. Just that you have to keep your subject still and then the phone still just to get enough light and then sharpness night selfies are also fine. Uh. You can tell the sharpness takes a hit a bit, but if you keep it still in night mode, you should be able to get some decent nice selfies. For the most part, I think the phone does a perfect job with night mode and that's one of the features.

I think I will find myself using a lot and then one more camera feature. I found fascinating the long exposure. It somehow manages to mimic long exposure food. You have options for moving cow to neon trees, and it's yeah. It was big enough.

I was quite pleased with the samples I was able to get the Redmi k40 pro plus is capable of taking 4k videos in 30 frames per second and then in 60 frames per second 8k and 30 frames per second, that's for the main camera. I think I wouldn't bother myself with AK. Furthermore, I think that's overkill I render in 4k, so I wouldn't need that anyway, and I think 4k is going to be the standard for a long time. Furthermore, I took a few samples and then, with this not having optical image symbolization, I was concerned how it was going to be taking videos right with example I took. Furthermore, I was quite impressed with the stabilization at 4k.

It was quite okay. Optical image. Stabilization would have been a lot better, but this is with enough ideas: it's not so bad there more samples, still impressed by the electric image stabilization with the electronics. It's perfect for stabilizing 4k without us ultra-wide 4k. Video is also cool, just not as sharp as with a main camera and then, of course again since the sensor is so big.

If you take close-up video you're really going to get some nice both effect, and it's really natural looking, and it's something I think I'll find myself. So here's the kind of video and stabilization you can expect from the front facing camera. Sometimes over exposes other times it's all right when it comes to performance. There's really nothing to complain about everything is just so fast and smooth thanks to the snapdragon 888 system, one two with 12 gigabytes of ram. You can keep so many things in memory and then, when you jump to them, they just snap back to where you left them.

I'm not really a gamer, and I don't really play so many games on phone, but the few recent games. I have work really smoothly at full settings. Furthermore, I don't have any issues with them read or two spots, for instance, on maximum settings just performs all right, no starters no lag anywhere, and it's one of the most demanding racing games. Furthermore, I've found km highway racing also works. Very well, I've had no issues with this.

The fun part is, I can keep all of these in memory pretty much the hoodie, and then I can always snap back to them like I never left and that's something. That's really really really crazy. If you are watching this video, then it was edited and rendered on this very device it plays, but it scraps you can have multiple layers of 4k, and it still plays them effortlessly. If that isn't a testament of how powerful a workhorse these devices and with all this performance coming in under 600 dollars. I think that is a perfect dragon, and that was the main reason why I got this device.

All that's not withstanding is worth mentioning that if you will manage to over stress the device, it still has a tendency to work it. I tried stressing it once what was I doing. I was playing grid or two sports in the highest settings recording at full resolution that screen recording uh playing Spotify in the background tutoring hotspot to the PC, while running a download in the browser or with the phone. In a case, of course, that was going to be too much for the phone, and then I got a message that the phone was overheated, so I guess I know what not to do, but if you're just going to be running a couple or even a trial or apps, even if they are high-end, the snapdragon 888 should be able to handle that well, the battery is its good actually great if you are doing high performance tax, if you are really taxing it see with the camera and then with the lots of gaming, you can expect a little over five hours of screen on time, but on medium days I usually get about six hours of screen on time. On this way, you don't do anything.

You could even get up to seven hours of screen on time, and that is really great. If you ask me for a snapdragon 880 that is known to be power hungry the 33 watt, charger that comes in the box means Xiaomi turbocharging that can get you from 0 to 60 in about 30 minutes and then 0 to 100 and then ah talking about mobile charging. Like supercar numbers, let's talk about the interface, so this runs android 11 on me, UI 12 is the Chinese variant and usually those get updates faster. But then they come with a lot of Bluetooth and things you might not need. If you are a global user, I've tried to get a lot of them out to make it as clean as possible.

Um even use uh debugging to get some system apps out, but then there are still a few places. You cannot get rid of. There's, however, dark mood. I think I've talked about that already. I like using that um there's so many features that come with the mini customizations you have so much customization.

One of them is the wallpaper carousel. You have um super zoom wallpapers. These are really nice, they zoom in, and then you can even zoom in to get all of these. I don't know which people designed this right. It's really, really cool having fun and then there's the wallpaper cursor there are teams.

There are themes. There are so many if it's customization you want. You have so many options with this. Not everyone is a fan of this, though always on display is also available. I personally don't have need for it.

I really don't always use on display, but then there's no notification. Furthermore, I like so. Furthermore, I set the screen to blue. When there's a notification, you can do other things to do. I, like the wallpaper itself, you can automate your lock screen and your home screen.

You can set. How often you want them to change, so they keep changing. I don't need to search for wallpapers. You can even select categories so that you get the wallpapers that you want and then knowing Xiaomi they have some other nifty features. There are some special features like um the floating windows.

I even forgot. If you find the phone too big, you can just slide to one side, and it's going to be minimized so that you can have one handed you get stuff outside just to get back. Um. There's, there's of course, gesture controls. Um.

You can take screenshots with sliding TV fingers. You can open the camera with a double tap to the volume rockers. They are programmable, so you can just go to the settings, and then you can change what you want. The second space actually record the second space. You can actually run a parallel space within the phone.

That's like another phone within the phone. Let's say you want to run two WhatsApp accounts um two different two of the same apps, but then you don't want them to conflict. You can do that with a parallel space. What they call the second space, the customizations are practically endless. There's just so much you can do you can change phones, change, your dpi change, how small you want things to appear on the screen and then there's one drawback um with a Chinese room.

It doesn't allow you to use third party lunches other than loosely by Xiaomi, so here I'm using a puke launcher and that's made by Xiaomi. I just switched back to all these iPhones to make it look um like the standard ROM, but normally I would rather want to keep things spotless with an icon pack like this, and then everything stays simple and clean. This is how I normally leave my device. If we talk about UI, we could go on and on and on there are things you can change in the hardened notification center should be. You could choose this installs the models that are where you swipe right to get this menu and then left to get your notifications, or you can just opt for the traditional, more traditional style with everything over here and then.

Finally, the speakers- I usually do not listen to music through speakers I like to use earphone, but then the dual speakers on these are really nice, adobe, Atmos and then the base. I didn't expect that much bass coming from a mobile device- it's actually quite nice- and I find myself using speakers more, not more than earphones, but my usage of speakers are greatly because of how good they are, and it almost escaped me notice the grill over here, the last one is actually an infrared blaster, so you can control so many devices with your phone, any device that uses infrared from TVs, air conditioners so on and so forth. So that's about it for the review. These are my experiences and thoughts about the device. I think it's a really, really good phone for the specs.

You are getting excellent, display excellent performance, really high-end specs, 12, gigabytes of ram 256, the rise of stories, snapdragon 888, 108, megapixel um, the fingerprint scanner that works all the time. I even tried attaching different fingers, and they still work all the time. Really, really accurate. I've not been had a time when it failed, like it's a perfect device to be honest, but I think it's nothing being perfect. So what is missing here? Of course, you don't get the in-display fingerprints kind of, but that's not a problem for me.

There's no wireless charging, there's no optical image. Stabilization! You don't get the metallic build you're, getting the more premium devices um ingress protection is 5'3 as opposed to the ip68 you get on the high-end premium flagships, but all they know I'm happy with the purchase coming under 600. I think it's a perfect view. You alliance, by the end- and this is hopefully going to be my device for the next three years. I hope not to see if I don't overwork it, I'm going to be making more videos not about the device but made with the device either short or edited on the device.
