Razer Phone Impressions & Size Comparisons (vs Note 8 vs iPhone X vs Pixel 2 XL)

What's up YouTube Jeff back again from dopes tech daily comm today, I'm bringing you guys, unboxing and size. Comparisons of the new razor phone I know I'm a little late with this. A lot of people got it. I got actually got it in yesterday. Just haven't had a chance to go through and do the unboxing quite yet so today, we're just going to go ahead and open it up. Take a look.

I've got some size comparisons as usual. Give a few impressions really excited about this phone. This is sort of the know. Inspiration came from the next bit Robin, which is a phone I really liked. You can see a little nice little prompt here from the razor company themselves.

Just thanking you for buying the phone telling you know that this can be used for more than gaming and they really framing it. That way. A lot of people thought this was gonna, be purely a gaming phone, but not really the specs actually make it great for daily use. It's a nice little touch to see that included at the top of the box right here on the top. You've also got the device itself and some plastic, so we're gonna, just peel the plastic off of their take the device out feels very solid in the hand.

That's the first thing, I'll say about it. I know a lot of other people have noted this, even though it looks like the next bit Robin sort of inform. It definitely doesn't feel like the next bit. Robin in hand. I'll put that to the side, and I'll talk a little more about that in a second just folds out real nice there and then here on the side, we've got some information.

Oh very nice, look at that you've got a unique sim tool. So, even though I have a ton of sim tools, I have to say I. Definitely don't have one like that. So that's pretty awesome shows you how to put in the SIM card. Also has a micro, SD slot, so very cool.

There. You've got Racer phone instructions getting started guide so pretty standard stuff, but really nice to see someone take the sim tool up a notch. That's something I, definitely haven't seen before. We've got a lot of little packages here, so we'll see. What's in each of them, and this one we've got a dongle to connect our USB type-c to 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. This phone does not come with a headphone jack.

Of course. That's a very important thing very nice to see. Racer includes that in the next little box here probably got our. You can see they're nicely packed too with styrofoam. You can see.

Furthermore, you've got your charging brick itself, quick charge, 3.0 enabled with USB type-c, always very nice to see, and then in the next box, I'm assuming we have the cable, so everything individually, wrapped and packaged got some styrofoam there to protect the actual pieces that go there, and indeed this is a braided, USB, type-c cable, so definitely quality accessories that razors, including with the phone now as you can see from the packaging, it does not come with any headphones in the box. That's everything that comes in there, however, you can purchase the Racer hammerhead headphones that have USB type-c included. Those were actually released last week, their price very reasonably, as well I believe around 59 or 69 bucks I'll link those below. If you guys want to check them out in case you want some USB type-c headphones, so getting back into device itself, definitely not cheap feeling at all. The next bit Robin did feel a little cheap because of course it was made of plastic this one all metal body.

You got the Racer logo here. There's a special version. Had the green Racer logo, dual cameras, you got 12 megapixels with F 1.8 on the main camera. It's got: zoom 2 x, zoom on the other camera F 2 point 6 apertures on that also 12 megapixels. You got your flash there on the bottom.

Here you can see USB type-c on the side right there, volume up volume down again very similar to the next bit Robin, but it's all blacked out now and then over here power button, which also houses that fingerprint sensor, which is of course again reminiscent of the Robin right here. You've got your micro, SD and, of course, your SIM slot as well on the top really not much to speak of again, there's no headphone jack on this phone, but it feels great in hand on the front. You've got those huge stereo speakers here, a top and bottom you can see the grilles they're very, very nice. This is going to make one of the biggest selling points of the phone. In my opinion, I'll go ahead and boot it up.

So we can take a look at the software while I talk about the specs and more you've got 8 gigabytes of RAM in this phone 64 gigs of storage, Snapdragon, 835, 8, megapixel camera here on the front for selfies the four thousand William hour battery. Even though this phone is thick, it does have a huge 4000 William hour battery and that combined with these stereo speakers that you see right here on the top and the bottom, those nice grilles. That's going to give you an amazing gaming experience. Also amazing video experience, so I'm going to go ahead and go through the prompt, really quick and set it up, maybe just skip over it and set up the fingerprint sensor. So we can look at the software, then we'll get into a couple quick size comparisons and get out of here.

For the day, all right, you too I went ahead and put my account info in I'm going to go instead of the fingerprint sensor, which again is on this side button here very easy to do. Just find the sensor there go ahead and lift your finger. Obviously, like you would any other sensor, it does take a little longer for the side mounted sensor. If I had a suggestion, I would suggest setting up one of your index fingers. Maybe this one, because sometimes your hold your finger.

This way, I'm not going to do that right now, but that's another suggestion. If you're thinking about what other finger you might want to add to the phone, so let's just go out through and finish the services here, and then we will skip to the software. So we can take a look at it. The software on the razor phone does look a lot like stock Android. You do have a dark notification shade, as you can see right there.

If we go into the settings, though the settings look very close to stock, you can see the phone is running, Android version 7.1.1, so running a relatively new version of Android. It's not running Android or EO out of the box, which is obviously what we would prefer to see. Let's go through the storage, really quick and just take a look. It looks like we've got ten point. Eight four gigabytes use total! That's not too bad out of the box.

I mean compared to some other phones, which have a lot more used by the operating system. I'd say: Racer did a pretty good job. Optimizing there. As you can see, the number of apps installed is very minimal. You do have these green apps, which are the stock Racer apps.

It does look like they did choose to make a few modifications to some of these stock apps, mostly adding this green color scheme, which is Racer signature, but otherwise. Nothing too huge. You can see here with the phone also got the green color, that Racer uses wallpaper very cool wallpaper, otherwise, you've pretty much got the stock swipe up gesture. Here, your recent apps look very familiar just like you would see on stock Android. One of the main selling points of this particular phone is the 120 Hertz refresh rate on this egg, so LCD its 2560 by 1440, obviously not annelid, but we've seen a lot of issues with AMOLED panels lately, so you might be kind of glad that it's an LCD type panel.

One of the other big selling points for me, is that Nova is the default launcher. So, if you're a big fan of custom launchers- and you always throw on a custom launcher, you can see that you don't even need to do that in this case, because it is running a lot of people's favorite launcher, which is Nova Launcher prime. So you get that for free with the razor phone experience you do have the Google now right there on the side just swipe over the display being 120 Hertz. You can already tell how smooth the scrolling is. Just looking through the UI and scrolling through it's very, very simple, to sort of scroll through things, and it's just like that, iPad Pro 10.5 inch, which I do have as well. It's also very smooth there's a noticeable difference when scrolling through menus on 120, Hertz, refresh rate and, of course, that's also gonna- be a pretty big deal for you guys out there who are big gamers.

One thing that I am interested in is the camera I mean the camera, of course, is always an unknown. Whenever you deal with a phone maker that hasn't been proven in past flagships, you're going to take a couple of quick shots. Take a look at the shutter speed. It's a little slower. You can tell they're noticeable time for the shutter to actually take the photo, but the photo itself has some nice detail.

Of course, as you would expect under studio lights, it should be pretty good. So I have to do some further testing, but I would say. The camera is one of my main concerns about the phone just because Racer hasn't really proven themselves in the flagship mobile space. They've, obviously done a lot with laptops other than that I think the battery life is going to be amazing on this phone. Obviously you do have that 4,000 William hour battery.

It is quite thick. It's a lot of people have complained about that, but it's thick for a reason. Furthermore, it's also quite a large phone. So let's get into those size. Comparisons really quick! So I can talk a little about that.

Here's, the Galaxy S8 plus versus the razor phone, and you can see the razor phone quite a bit larger than the Galaxy S8, plus it's thicker taller. It's also wider because it's got the traditional 16 by 9 aspect ratio. If we take a look at the Galaxy Note 8, it's even a competitor for that phone as well they're, pretty much the same height. The razor phone is thicker. It's also wider again because of having the traditional aspect ratio, not a lot wider, but still wider.

So if you've got a no date, this is an even bigger phone. Here's my panda pixel 2 XL, raise your phone taller, also wider in terms of the side profile it's wider. But if you put them on top of one another, they're very similar and their overall width, so nothing too crazy there, the iPhone! So let's do the iPhone 10. Here you see the iPhone 10 and silver. Obviously it's going to be a much, much bigger phone than that you can see it towers above the iPhone.

Absolutely, the side profiles are not even going to be a comparison either and then the final phone here, the essential phone, another smaller Android phone that I've been using a lot lately just happen to have it here, so you can do a side by side, this phone huge compared to the essential phone in terms of the side profile and also the width and the height. So if you're using one of those phones, this gives you an idea of what you could expect with the razor phone, so a very large phone, but obviously with a purpose. It's got a big battery. It also has those stereo speakers on the front top and bottom bezels, but bezels for reasons. I really like that I'll be very interested in testing out the camera, also using 120 Hertz display on a smartphone for the first time.

I know a lot of people have commented on the outdoor visibility and brightness of the display, so I'll definitely be looking into that. Let me know what else you guys want to know about this phone I'll definitely be testing it out into a full review, also, some follow-up videos on customization, etc. Hope you guys enjoy me.
