In this video, I'm shooting 8k cinematic footage using the 11. How does it compare to a pro DSLR, let's find out in this video just over clear, I'm not saying it's going to replace your DSLR. Obviously, you have a bigger sensor, bigger lens selection, we're just looking at how much more convenience this offers and how it may be better in some situations than even using a pro DSLR. So what I use alongside my camera is an ultra-wide angle, lens a medium to telephoto lens, a telephoto lens and a macro lens. These are the main lens selections. I also have a shotgun microphone and a tripod to carry it around or set it up.
This is pretty much everything I used to create videos on my channel or my Instagram. On the other hand, we have something like the 11. This is everything in one, a smartphone that does pretty much everything and has great camera systems on its own. It's pretty great already, but if you want to take it to the next level, using something like a vlogging kit is pretty great. The one I'm using is from Fulani.
You get a tripod, you get a microphone with a muffling thing. You also get a light with it. If you need to shoot at low light, so that's the entire setup, a very portable easy to carry around and using just this itself, we can take really sick. Looking cinematic footage check it out, so that entire sequence was shot using. Just the 11, no external apps, none of that other stuff.
It was just the 8k video recording mode from the camera app itself. So can it shoot cinematic footage? Absolutely it can. Next, since I was using the vlog kit from Fulani, I decided why not try a vlogging test with the 11 using the microphone and the whole setup. So here's how that went traditionally vlogging with my setup, is pretty heavy. I have a battery grip, two batteries microphone all that stuff.
It gets pretty heavy with the auntie block it and the me11. It's super portable, easy to carry around and setting it up takes like less than a minute. You get proper microphone as well out of it, which is really great. Here's how the footage compares overall, all right, so this is a typical vlog setup. We've got the camera the tripod and the shotgun mic at the top and a wide is frame.
So you can see pretty much everything around me. The depth of field's, pretty good. The sound that you're hearing is from the shotgun mic. It is pretty heavy. I've got two batteries and a grip on here, so my arm is already starting to twitch a little, and obviously you're going to get some shake from that all right.
So now this is a vlog test with the me11 we're shooting, with the vlog kit from Fulani. We've got the shotgun microphone with the filter at the top, so the wind shouldn't disturb us too much. Also, the tripod is a lot lighter. The overall setup is a lot lighter. The resolution is higher with 8k and also the background.
Blur is pretty darn good for a smartphone so overall for vlogging, this would be a pretty awesome choice. So for vlogging it's pretty darn good. I mean this whole video is in 8th case, so I use the back camera to record the vlogging and I do recommend using the pro settings as well, because if you use the front camera, you can't really get the best quality out of it. There's no pro controls as well. So if you're vlogging, I recommend using the back camera, get focused using your hand or something, and then you're good to go so for vlogging.
This is a pretty great replacement for the DSLR as well. Now the amount of pro controls that you get out of the 11 is also very impressive. This has stayed kind of consistent with the Xiaomi phones. Recently you get pro controls and maximum control over what you're shooting and how your image is going to turn out because of the different selection of options you can go through. Let's take a second to talk about the image quality coming straight out of the camera.
Now, when I'm using my traditional professional camera, I usually turn all these settings all the way down when it comes to color and saturation contrast, because I want to be able to color grade and color correct later in editing, so I can control how the image turns out overall. So this gives me the option to customize it to the lowest setting possible on my canon camera. However, on the me11 you're, pretty much allowed to do way more than that. So apart from the traditional settings, you also get black bars top bottom. You can control your manual settings and have things like focus, peaking and log footage which even my pro DSLR quote unquote does not have, so this has more pro settings than my pro camera.
Log footage essentially, is a flat image that allows me to color grade and customize the look of the image a lot better than a regularly compressed video. In my opinion, that is the most pro aspect of this, because I can really customize what my footage looks like in addition to having full control over the different moods, I can set the way I could color grade it. Even the fact that this has its very own macro lens, that's a tell macro and works really well, you can get really nice looking shots and a lot more dynamic range and color accuracy. With this when you use the log footage so very happy with that overall, as a bonus, if you couple it with something like the metamorphic lens from Fulani, you can get really sick cinematic. Looking fitted Steven Spielberg kind of footage out of this, you even have the vertical effect built into it, with the movie effects and a bunch of other effects like the parallel effects time lapses, you can get fascinating, creative, looking shots using just one phone with all that great stuff being said about this.
Do I think it'll replace my pro camera? Probably not. I would still stick to that for client, work and stuff, but with that being said, this is a great companion to have alongside your pro camera. If you run out of battery leave your camera at home or forget your SD card, I've done all three of those. This will be a huge lifesaver. It offers pro controls really lets.
You tweak things and get exactly the right image that you want 8k in resolution. The processor is pretty darn powerful to get pretty much everything you want time lapses. Whatever it may be, makes it a huge must have in your pocket, and the fact that it does fit in your pocket is pretty crazy as well. So if you guys want more tips and tricks on how to shoot cinematic shots using your smartphone, whichever phone it may be, make sure you're subscribed, because I'll do more tutorials on that in the future. But I'll see you again in the next video.
