POCO F2 Pro Review

Hey guys Jamie here welcome back to the channel where we take awesome, out-of-the-box, I'm sure you've heard by now, but the follow-up to one of the most bang for your buck devices in 2018 has finally reached our shores. This is the Poco f2 Pro, while I've heard gripes over the fact that it got a significant bump up in price from the Poco f1 starting at twenty-five thousand nine hundred and ninety pesos I was pretty excited to try it out for myself to see if everything it had to bring to the table makes it worth considering, of course, Before we jump in guys. Let me show you what comes inside the box. First is the phone itself and our Poco f2 Pro comes in cyber gray, but it also comes in two other color variants, neon blue and phantom white, and then everything is pretty much what you would usually expect to get from most smartphones nowadays a case because you should always be packing protection, the documentation that you should definitely keep, even if you won't read it, the USB, C charging, cable and the 30 watt charging break. Sadly, still no earphones in sight for this one, but that's pretty much a standard move from Xiaomi. Now, let's take a closer look at the f2 pro now, one of the biggest compromises that was made to keep costs down for the focal f1 was its chassis or exterior.

I think the word that a lot of people use for their reviews when it came to the build quality and design was utilitarian, meaning it was designed to be more practical than attractive. Well, that's definitely not the case for the Poco f2 pro, whose material choice can now go head-to-head with flagship devices. It has a glass back and a metal frame and I can't tell you how glad I am that companies have now moved away from the loud gradient designs to something a little more subdued and elegant. That's exactly what you're getting with this phone subtle elegance, especially in this colorway. Not only that, but this phone has all the right curves in all the right places to make it handle like a charm in terms of overall design.

I'll leave it up to you guys to decide, though I do think that the f2 pro looks like more of a phone from 2019. That's not really a bad thing, though, since it is very subjective, but the circular camera array has gotten a bit of flack in the past, plus the fact that it still uses a pop-up camera instead of a punch hole really doesn't make it fit into the current crop of smartphones. We've been seeing recently again, I'll leave it up to you guys to decide if you like it or not. Personally, though, I think it's okay, since I jumped straight into a review for this one, let's do a tour of the button import layout, so you know where everything is on the right side of the f2 Pro is the volume rocker and power button that has a red accent. It's a nice touch to kind of give it a bit of visual separation on top you'll find the headphone jack.

So right away guys it gets a leg up for most flagship phones in the market right now, then you have the pop-up camera module, an IR blaster and the microphone. Now. Let me pause here for a sec, because I remember reading a comment asking what an IR blaster does, and I don't typically use them on a smartphone, but basically it can turn the Poco f2 Pro into a remote control. Now this is really useful. If you have a ton of Xiaomi home products, because you can turn it into a central remote for all the stuff in your house, but it should work for other brands as well anyway.

The left side is bare so on. The bottom is where you'll find the access to the SIM tray, another mic, the USB-C port and the speaker grille. Ok now, let's talk about the upgrades that the f2 pro got and one of them has to be the screen, because not only is it bigger, but it also uses a better panel you're now getting a six point, six to eight inches, full HD plus AMOLED display compared to the six point 18 inch IPS panel on the f1, and you know me guys once I see that the phone has an AMOLED panel. It's automatically a thumbs up. You've got better contrast, ratios, better color accuracy, support for HDR, 10 plus and even has TUV Zealand full care display certification.

Now? What does that exactly mean? Well, I actually have to look it up, but it does sound very impressive. Anyway, you won't be hearing any complaints from me in this department. It makes for a perfect time when watching videos or for mindlessly scrolling through my Instagram feed, when I'm procrastinating, you're also getting that all screen experience here, since there is no not because of that. Pop-Up camera and I do appreciate the fact that there are no distractions from a punch hole with slightly more screen real estate as well. The refresh rate for the f2 Pro is still capped at 60 Hertz.

Now it doesn't really bother me all that much since having a higher refresh rate. Isn't that important for my use case, it's something that's good to have, but not really a need, in my opinion, of course, having an AMOLED panel gives you access to an in display fingerprint scanner, but this one is a tad slow compared to the others that I personally experienced. This feels like you have to really complete that on-screen animation before it unlocks the margin of error is pretty low, though so at least there's that another upgrade to the f2 pro is its entire processing package that now features more current hardware at the helm of this device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon, 86 5, making this the most affordable, or at least one of the most affordable phones to have this SOC. This is paired with up to 8 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of storage. If you can spare the extra bit of cash, we do recommend getting top variant, but for this review we do have the 6 1 to 8 version of this phone.

There's not much to say here guys your pretty much getting some of the best hardware available in the market, so this can definitely smash all the tasks you throw at it, whether it be for gaming, social media or for productivity on the go I'm. Pretty sure that some of you are very curious to see how this handles games. So here's some gameplay footage I, think I mentioned this in the past, but I'm not a huge mobile gamer, but I did try out fortnight with this phone, and it does handle it pretty well, given that the frame rates are basically stuck at 30fps, the experience was still incredibly smooth, moving on to some Marvel Super War and was pretty much the same deal. I didn't have game bench running for this one, but even at max settings I can easily see this getting perfect marks at 60 FPS at an average and 100% stability. Okay.

So this isn't a gaming review, but we might as well throw in some Co D Mobile here. So you can see what the performance will be like and again guys you are getting the best processor available right now to expect this to run really well too. Furthermore, I didn't really experience any heating issues. It does have that liquid cool technology, after also in terms of this apartment thumbs up for software, you are getting Android 10 with Poco launcher 2.0, on top of it, there's a bit of bloatware or pre-installed apps when you get it, but you can't uninstall them overall, not too bad, though you're also getting a bigger battery on the f2 pro at 4,700 William hours, plus getting support for 30 watt fast charging two-hour battery benchmark, had it pegged at 15 hours and 31 minutes that translates to at least a full day's worth of heavy use or nearly -. If you use phones like I, do now, charging from 0 to 100 will be a little over an hour, not too bad, given the capacity of this phone and the charging speeds that you're getting ok.

So, let's talk about the cameras, because the Poco f1 actually ranked pretty well when it came to DX o mark and if you happen to catch the video that MHD did that playoff style video, the f1 actually did pretty well against some serious competition and while I don't have the f1 to really do side by side photos for you guys. The hardware has greatly improved on this version, and I'm, not just talking about megapixel accounts here now, you're getting a 64 megapixel main camera versus the 12 on the f1, but that's also backed by a Sony. Imx6 8 6 sensors also you're getting a 13 megapixel ultra-wide, a 5 megapixel Ella macro, which is honestly the first time I've heard of it and a 2 megapixel depth scent. And of course you have that pop-up selfie camera at 20 megapixels overall guys, I'm happy with the photos I've gotten with the f2 pro. The large main sensor gives you a ton of detail and the colors are actually pretty well-balanced too.

You will see a bit of drop off with the wide-angle camera, but nothing too bad again. No one is gonna notice when you post it on Facebook. You can also get some decent low-light photos with the f2 Pro, but we did notice that it does get a little aggressive with noise suppression. Backlight shots are a little mediocre, but as a rule, you shouldn't be shooting against the light anyway. So yeah, the selfie cam, does a pretty decent job too, though, as is the case with most devices, things tend to fall apart as soon as you lose a bit of light now, since a lot of you are probably trying your hand at vlogging these days, let's see what the video capabilities of the f2 Pro has to offer.

First things: first guys you can shoot videos up to 8k, but what you're seeing is compressed down to 1080p. You will do stabilization when shooting in this mode, so I really wouldn't recommend it. If you're running and gunning I would use this on a phone gimbals or something like that. Now there is steady, shooting mode that lives up to its name, and it's pretty impressive in terms of stabilization. It's almost gimbals like now.

It does crop into the usual 1080p output a little, but not by much so you guys can see the difference. Here's a bit of 1080p footage without steady video, and here they are side by side. You can also shoot using the white angle camera for that more expansive field of view and can shoot up to 4k footage at 30fps on that now for the selfie camera guys, you are limited to 1080p at 30fps and I would suggest using a selfie stick to get a wider shot, but that's not too bad either. Now, looking at everything all together are all the upgrades from the Poco f1 worth the bump up in price for the f2 Pro simply put guys in my opinion. Yes, everything that they put in this phone from the improvement display, the updated internals, a new camera system and the bigger battery with faster charging speeds all wrapped up in a chassis.

That's built better! That's a win right there, especially if you look at the other devices they have the f2 Pro pointed at for me personally guys, and you don't have to agree. The price increase is well worth it and though I would love to see a non-pro version of this phone with fewer bells and whistles to make it more affordable. I, don't think, that's a good move for Xiaomi business-wise because it might end up cannibalizing some of their other products like the Minor 10 light, unless, of course, they time it right and that's pretty much it for my review of the Poco f2 pro guys. Thank you once again for dropping by and spending a few minutes with me. I really appreciate it.
