Pixel 5a versus iPhone 12 camera comparison

Now, as I was expecting, a lot of you are already demanding camera comparisons with the all-new pixel 5a that launched this week and a variety of different smartphones that are currently on the market. So I'm going to do my best to give you as many as I can, without completely overdoing it, and the first device up is going to be the iPhone 12, which is the cheapest device within apple's 2020 lineup versus Google's the cheapest device available now in 2021 to see how the cameras on these devices match up. Let's take a look, so, let's get started with the specs on the pixel 5a. Here it has two cameras on the back: a 12, megapixel main sensor. Then a 16 megapixel ultra-wide camera. Those are capable of recording video at up to 4k video at 60 frames per second, and then we have a selfie camera.

That's peeking! Through the display up front, that's capable of capturing 8 megapixel photos at only 1080p video 30 fps. Switching over to the iPhone 12. We have a pretty simple setup with two 12 megapixel sensors on the back of the phone and then another 12 megapixel sensor on the front in that extra large notch above the display. All of these can also record 4k video at up to 60 fps the front and the back, which is an upgrade over what you can get on the pixel 5a. So now that we've cleared up the specs on these two devices, let's head out and take some side by side photo and video comparisons to see how they stack up in everyday use.

So and this here's a look at 4k video from the main cameras on both of these devices and then switching over to the ultra-wide cameras as well. As you can see, the iPhone does have a wider field of view, with its ultra-wide camera, which is kind of nice. So one of the areas in google, one of the areas in which google's phones have always lagged behind, is with a video capture, especially from the front-facing camera. That's definitely evident in this comparison, where the iPhone 12 has the clear advantage with this 4k video capture at 60 fps versus the pixel 5a 1080p at 30 frames per second, so now you're getting 4k 30fps from the iPhone, but not from the pixel 5a, that's 1080p at 30 frames per second and then. Finally, this is 4k.

Video from the main sensors on both of these devices definitely even a lot better than what you get out of the ultra-wide cameras, especially in low light situations like this so and that's going to do it for this camera comparison between the pixel 5a from Google and the Apple iPhone 12. Let me know what you think of the results in the comments below and which device you would rather use on a day-to-day basis for capturing your photos and videos. We do have more camera comparisons between the pixel, 5a and other devices that are on the market, so make sure you subscribe to the channel and stay tuned for those. Thank you guys so much for watching, and I'll catch you in the next one.
