Pixel 3a & 3a XL First Look - Google's Budget Phones with a Flagship Camera

Google is enticing mid-range buyers with the new Pixel 3a and 3a Excel. Will it work for them? Let's take a close look next. This is tree Google's gotten in the habit of not really making any big hardware announcements at Google I/o its super-sized developer conference that takes place every year in Mountain View at the shoreline amphitheater. This time, however, is a different story. Google announced its next pixel devices, the Pixel 3a and larger 3a XL, both mid-range devices that carry some very compelling features from their full-size full-price counterparts that were originally announced last October, but it does carry some compromises too. So the question to answer is whether those compromises are worth the dramatically low price point at $399.

To start the Pixel 3a is half the cost of the premium. Pixel threes that came before it. The Pixel 3a has a 5.6 inch OLED panel at 22 20 by 1080 resolution, roughly the same resolution of the pixel 3. It's packing a Snapdragon 670 processor, which is not quite top-of-the-line, but still one of Qualcomm new processors, that's tailored for more improved performance in the mid-range 4 gigs of ram 64 gigs of storage. There is no micros card slot for expandable 'ti Google left out any sort of wireless charging.

You won't find that here also no water protection, something in both cases. That's reserved for the higher-end pixel threes, but Google did include the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, which will make some audio files happy and another thing that Google kept on this device and in my opinion this could be. Its biggest selling point is the same: 12 megapixel rear facing camera. That's found on the pixel 3, because if there's one thing that normal everyday smartphone buyers are likely to have heard about the pixel line, it's that Google has made a seriously awesome competitive camera with its mixture of a good lens integrated with its top-tier AI computation. So that means for half of the price of the premium, offering anyone can get amazing photos with all sorts of things like portrait mode.

That's on the rear camera, as well as the front-facing 8 megapixel camera, also super res zoom for AI, enhanced quality zoom and the granddaddy of them all night sight for amazing low-light results. I love that the cameras alone in this price category really sell the device, but again I'm going to have to spend some time with them to know for sure the Pixel 3a has active edge, so you can squeeze it to summon assistant, and it has a 3000 William hour battery. If you want a larger device, you can get all these features, but with a 6 inch 2160 by 1080 display and 3700 William hour battery on the Pixel 3a XL and that's going to run you $479 still sub $500, which makes it seem like even more of a deal as for the design. It very much follows the design language of the pixel tree. Lineup, though it replaces the glass back with a plastic body same for the frame.

The phone still feels nice in hand. Who knows that the plastic approach actually makes this less susceptible to drop damage. Google also announced that a lot of its core AI features stuff. It usually reserves for devices with lots of power is being scaled down to work on device and then to be able to target lower powered devices, and you know that the Pixel 3a is a part of that strategy. I will be working on a full review of the 3a, but in the meantime, I'll just say that there's a lot of excitement here about how Google is harnessing the pixels the biggest strength.

That's photo capabilities on a device that is affordable when compared too much of its competition can Google improve its device sales by entering the mid-range with the Pixel 3a. Let's just say that I'm intrigued to find out I'm, Jason, Howell and I'll have more on the Pixel 3a coming very soon keep up with all the hottest tech news and gadgets visit.
