Pixel 2 XL vs Pixel 4a | Should you upgrade?

Hey, what's up guys welcome back to SL premium today, I'm going to answer the question: should you upgrade your pixel 2 XL to the Pixel 4a? Yes or no? Well? First, let's talk about the obvious things on the actual phone, so one aims for a more display all screen design and the other has a big display with a high resolution. So technically moving up from the pixel 2 XL to d4a. You would both upgrade and downgrade the screen. You would get less resolution because the Pixel 4a only has a 1080p display, while the pixel 2 XL has a 1440p display and the actual real estate of the screen is about the same. But the Pixel 4a is slightly shorter. Like this, as you can see, the pixel 2 XL is wider and the Pixel 4a is shorter and another thing that might bother you is the hole punch.

The pixel 2 XL has nothing in the way just screen and that's it, but here we got bezel camera and then screen and then bezel. So it kind of distracts from your gaming experience or watching videos on YouTube. But one thing you gain is the headphone jack, so that could be an upgrade if you like using headphones, because the pixel 2 XL does not have a headphone jack and another thing that might be important to you is the software updates. Technically android 11 is the last version for the pixel 2 XL. I know it can handle android, 12 and 13.

Probably, but it's just not going to get it. Google only promised three years, and it would be a very nice surprise if they changed that, but I doubt they will so. The Pixel 4a will probably get android 12, 13 and 14. , so that's actually pretty insane, and the pixel will be stuck on android 11 for the rest of its life. I mean you can probably install lineage OS and then update it that way, but it's more convenient with the 4a and just simply update it in these settings and some other improvements are in the software department.

So, for example, raise to wake actually works pretty well on the pixel 2a I mean 4a, not 2a, by the way make sure you guys hit that like button to support my channel we're almost to 3 000 subscribers. So I would appreciate if you hit that subscribe button too, but let's get back with the video so, for example, the raise to wake as you can see, the pixel 2 XL for some reason just has a delay while the Pixel 4a just works, and another thing that's improved is the tap to wake the screen on the pixel 2 XL. You can only double tap, and it's super slow, while the Pixel 4a, you can just tap it, and then it's awake much faster than the pixel 2 XL, and we're not done yet. There are many more software tweaks where it's just much better. On the Pixel 4a, for example, you get the updated Google Assistant 2.0 see brand new and old. Okay, we're done with the software.

Let's go back to hardware, so the pixel 2 XL is pretty old. By now many of you guys have the phone with a really terrible battery. That's because that's the nature of lithium-ion batteries, they will degrade over time so upgrading to the Pixel 4a. You also get a brand-new battery that should last you a few more years, so you could just get the 2xl's battery replaced but buying a brand-new phone to me. It's much more worth it, and so, if you upgrade to the Pixel 4a, you also get a brand-new battery, and you also get the great battery life for a few more years.

Not only the batteries will be better, but so will the speakers and another piece of hardware I'm gonna talk about is, of course, the speakers they're ancient by now, and they don't sound as clear as they did on launch day. So now they sound kind of muffled and not clear and kind of hisses at you in the high frequencies, while the brand-new Pixel 4a, of course, has new speakers that actually work, because it's a new phone okay. Now, let's switch back to software for the last time. Well, I guess it's technically still hardware, but it's sort of software. Okay, and for the last point I'm going to talk about is the performance.

These phones are actually still pretty comparable to each other. None of them is really faster than the other and some maps. You may expect a win on the pixel 2 XL and some apps. You will experience a win on the Pixel 4a, for example, in games. Pixel 4a will load faster simply because it has a faster UFS technology versus the old storage controller on the pixel 2 XL.

But the game still worked great on the pixel 2 XL to this day, because it has a slightly better arena 640 540 GPU on the pixel 2 XL versus the arena 618, which is for high-end devices and if you're, a gamer technically the pixel 2 XL is still better because of the bigger screen and better GPU, but the Pixel 4a to me still does a good enough job to not be a piece of crap all right guys. That's all! I have for today hope you guys enjoyed the video and, if you have a 2xl, make sure you comment down below of what issues you're having to this day. Oh, speaking of issues, I remember many users are getting their cameras bricked completely like it just doesn't work. So that's another thing to upgrade to the Pixel 4a. You will get working cameras but yeah.

If you have a Pixel 4a. Let me know what phone you upgraded from, and I'll see you guys later peace. You.
