OPPO Reno5 5G camera review: Powerful AI cameras take the stage in 2021

Hey guys so today, I'm back again with the Oppo Reno 55g, but this time we're only going to be focusing on one thing and one thing only which is its camera lens. So if you've watched our previous video, you already know that Oppo added a bunch of additional video features to the Renault 555g, but we're going to be checking out all of its five lenses and see what each of them has to offer. So, let's do this, since the reno5g has a lot of fun video features we will be talking about them, but before that here are the camera specs of the Reno 55g all right moving on, so it has three new video features. The first one is called AI highlight video. If you've watched our comparison, video or even the full review of this phone, then you already know that the Renault 55g is the first to have this feature, and it uses AI to offer video enhancement. In fact, there's actually two modes to this one is called live HDR for daytime and another is called the ultra night video for nighttime.

Interestingly, I found the AI highlight to work better during the day when using the front camera, but better during the night, when using the rear camera with live, HDR mode turned on my face is no longer overexposed and the overexposed areas in the background is also reduced. If you use the rear cameras, we get slightly brighter footage, but what's more noticeable are the warmer tones during the night ultra night, video retains details in dark areas and really brightens up your surroundings. When there's low lighting live. HDR is great when you're trying to shoot indoor or backlit scenes such as caf?, with a good amount of sunlight or even during sunset and sunrise, while ultra night. Video is good for indoor scenarios, especially during the MCO period like family gathering, birthday celebration, city, nights capes or karaoke nights.

The Reno 55g also has a dual view: video mode and it's basically a fun way to shoot your videos, especially if you're trying to feature a product or another friend, for example, you can use the dual view. Video to record a duet with your best friend create fun videos with your hate. On top and your past body, below or even when, you're traveling alone, it comes in three layouts. So you can take your pick, but I've said this before the front lens tends to overexpose the subject. It would have been better if OPPO's AI highlight video is combined with this mode.

If you are an Oppo fan from way before, then you already know that the ultra steady video is one of the exclusive features on the Oppo Reno series. This time the Oppo Renault 55g is equipped with an upgraded ultra, steady 3.0. It works on both front camera and back camera and there's a huge difference. Videos are less shaky, especially when you're walking up or down the stairs, but you can still see some wobbling. The good thing is we get ultra stabilization on the ultra white lens too, but it loses some details as compared to its main lens.

However, if you want to capture romantic moments of you and your partner, walking together, the Reno 55g is a great device to capture these moments without needing extra professional stabilizers. Now here's my favorite video feature portrait beautification video. I think Oppo did very well with this video mode, because the front camera can detect up to 196 key facial feature points. I ended up with perfect makeup filters and face enhancement that will help when my skin is having a bad day. Sadly, the rear camera's portrait beautification isn't as powerful.

I only get to adjust the intensity of the effect with a single slider, and it just doesn't offer as much. I also tested out the both video, and we can see that the effect is a bit inconsistent around the edges, especially if you move around a lot. It's still a good feature, but I think it can be better photos wise. The Reno 555g gives you saturated colors with great details. However, you can also tone things down if you prefer more natural colors, just turn off HDR and AI scene enhancement, I expected no less from a 64 megapixel.

Camera photos are sharp and even when you zoom in subjects are clear and details are preserved well on the ultrawide lens distortion is minimal, but that could be due to its narrower field of view as compared to its competitors. The zoom also supports up to 5 times zoom only, and we see a great loss of details, a shift in color and more noise. Let's not forget about the macro lens. The Reno 55g can shoot macro photos, but you really have to gauge your distance, or it'll appear. Blurry also, colors are not as accurate when compared to its other lenses for mid-range device.

The Reno 5 5g does pretty well in night shots. You need to turn on night mode, and you'll see a difference. We get more details. Images are brighter and sharper with less noise, moving on to selfies, with good lighting and opposed beauty enhancement. There's no need to worry about getting bad selfies.

It will, however, overexpose your background if you are somewhere really bright, but your face will still remain flawless, so no worries, both effect on selfies are natural, and you still get some stray hairs cropped out, but that's pretty usual for most both lens on smartphones. Once it's dark, though you lose clarity and picture quality drops quite a bit at 1899 ringgit. The Renault 55g has a lot of fun. Video features to explore. In its cameras, but there's also a number of shortcomings that can be improved on it's a great choice for those who love daytime selfies and vlogs, but you may want to reconsider if you are into low light, photography or videography.

So that's it for our video today, if you also own a Renault 555g, do share with us how you feel about this phone in the comment section down below as usual. If you like this video, give it a thumbs up, don't forget to subscribe to our channel Calgary TV, and I'll, see you in the next one.
