You know I was thinking the other day about how far OnePlus has progressed over the years and how they went from this to this. While I do plan on putting together a full-on video looking back at each one plus phone, I wanted to focus on the eight pro in this video. It's been nearly a year since its release. As of the posting of this video, so I thought I'd give it the old revisit treatment. So the other day I picked up the 8 pro for video and man. This thing is so nice as much as I prefer flatter edged displays, which is something you should know by now.
That doesn't mean I dislike curved, displays or think they're bad, it's quite the opposite. I love them overall and the pro's massive panel with the 120hz refresh rate super high resolution and the cleanliness of oxygen OS. Is such a nice experience to me the speed, the fluidity, the power everything. The hardware is great too. Of course the haptics stood out to me again because well, you know how I am with my premium haptics.
There are still a number of phones out there with some pretty sad haptics, so there's that everything comes together beautifully, and I have no problem saying that this phone is going to age very, very well. In fact, this will not be the last time you hear me say this just say: I'm like fine wine. Last year, I bounced around from phone to phone, all of which had their own uniqueness and special qualities, of course, but upon revisiting the eight pro with its user experience its power under the hood and seeing its recent price drops, I knew I had to stress to you not to forget this phone as an option moving forward, even with whatever OnePlus has up its sleeve this year. Now. One thing to remember is that this phone started at 900 bucks back in April 2020.
, not all that long ago, and not exactly inexpensive, but compared to other phones. Nine hundred dollars wasn't bad. All things considered, you think about the s20 plus that started at twelve hundred dollars, the s20 ultra that started at fourteen hundred dollars, so on and so forth, and while those phones may have had a couple features that the 8 pro couldn't offer, the 8 pro wasn't anything to sneeze at in terms of features now fast-forward to right here right now, how is the 8 pro in 2020? Well? For starters, I think it goes without saying that it still performs well blazing fast and super smooth. As always, the same thing goes for the biometrics. These still work great.
I love the 30 watt wireless charging with OnePlus charger. It still runs all the games. It still takes good pictures. The battery life is still perfect. You can get around six plus hours of screen on time, with heavy use and that's easily and all that good stuff.
Also, I still have this brand skin on mine. I just love how this one looks in tandem with the color of the phone shout out to brand for showing love and supporting the channel. You can check out these skins and many others using the first link below. Not only has it been just 11 months, but it also goes without saying that phones have gotten to the point where they're going to last a long time, and they're going to hold up much longer and much better than ever before. So having said that, if, at any point during any of my revisits something happens, that's worth mentioning performance, wise or anything of the sort.
Don't worry! I got you I'll, let you know about it and yes, I know my voice, cracked. So, yes, the a-pro still runs great they're, no real complaints. I do have to mention that this hasn't been my main phone since release, but I have used it a ton so keep that in mind, but I also have to mention, like I do in every one plus revisit that I do. My dad's 5t still runs great and mind you. That thing is over 4 years old.
He uses it pretty heavily. Every single day, so there's that as well, I have all the confidence that the 8 pro will last a very long time as well. I'll still go ahead and toss up a couple shots I took recently just so that you can see what they look like now. There have been a number of updates that improved the camera, experience and well pictures look great. The video is looking solid and overall, the experience itself is quite good, not the best, but it's good OnePlus has come a long way in my eyes.
Speaking of updates, there have been a good handful of updates that have helped improve and polish a number of things OxygenOS got a bit of a facelift. It may not be for everyone, but oxygen. Os is still a desirable skin on top of android, and it remains one of my favorites. If not my actual favorite, the 8 pro has proven to be one of the best phones of 2020. I think we can all agree on that, and it's a great option moving forward there.
I am saying that again so yeah. This is kind of more about the phone being great down the line and less about how it is here nearly a year later. Something like that. As of right now, you can find brand new maxed out eight pros with 12 gigs of ram and 256 gigabytes of storage for around 800 bucks, and you can find second hand, eight pros in great condition for well under seven hundred dollars every once in a while you'll be able to find them for around six hundred dollars, and sometimes you'll actually be able to find them for less than that. I'm talking close to a flat 500.
yeah, for prices like that, it's kind of a no-brainer right. If you're looking for a big premium high-end phone, and you're, not looking to pay a big high-end price, it may not have the latest and greatest processor, but hey guess what it doesn't need it. It's still incredibly fast, smooth and powerful battery life is great. The cameras are very solid. The screen is absolutely phenomenal.
It's a joy to both look at and use the haptics are excellent. The speakers sound real good. The alert slider is always something that I miss on. Other phones and oxygen. Os paired with the latest version of android is a great combination to have the pro was and still is, a beast of a phone and with prices where they're at now do not sleep on this being an option this year next year, and even the year after that, and maybe even the year after that as well.
Of course, I'm really looking forward to what the next OnePlus flagship will be like and chances are by the time you watch this video it may already be out. Even then again, don't sleep on this phone now and in the future. Sorry for repeating myself so much. I think you get the point. So what do you think of the 8 pro in 2021? Do you have one? Are you watching this video on one? Let's talk about it in the comments, if you made it to this point in the video, you are a real one.
You know what to do. Comment potato. You know the vibes. As always, I hope you enjoyed it's been Zach, and thanks for watching is.
