OnePlus 9 Review | Back To Basics

What's going on average tech guy here today, we are back with more tech and more reviews before we get started, be sure and click that subscribe button be sure to hit that bell. So you get all my notifications in the future and stay tuned for those giveaways. Today, we're going to be looking at a device that I've been trying out recently. This is the OnePlus 9. And today this is what we're going to be talking about. So, let's check it out.

So this is the OnePlus 9. Now I saw a lot of reviews about the OnePlus 9 pro and I figured that this one would probably be a good spot to kind of get in the game, seeing that this is my first OnePlus device. But what I can tell you from using this for a few days is that this thing is nice, and I mean for the price it's nice, so the OnePlus 9 5g starts out at about 729 bucks. Now this is for the base model, which is going to get you 128 gigabytes on the storage and about 8 gigabytes on your ram. This device also comes with a snapdragon 888, and it also has a 4 500 William hour battery.

It's going to be more than good enough to get you through an entire day without having to charge and speaking of charging. It also comes with that 65 watt warp charge, and I mean this warp charge- is awesome. You can get over half your battery charge from zero in about 30 minutes. So, like no issues on the battery game, they got it online. You get a 15 watt wireless charge, you get a reverse wireless charge.

You also get a fingerprint scanner. Now the fingerprint scanner is not that big of a deal to me. A lot of people complain about the placement of it. I find that holding it in my hand and using that fingerprint scanner in the direction that it is or in the spot that is placed in it works really well. For me, I haven't had any issues, and it's very, very accurate.

Every time I put my finger on it, it unlocks no matter what situation I'm in no matter, if my hand is a little moist and clammy, it still works. Sometimes Unlike with the Samsung, if your finger is a little moist or the wet, it won't really pick it up, and it'll tell you that you need to reposition or wipe your finger, but I can appreciate. OnePlus has built in a really nice fingerprint sensor into the screen of this phone. Also, OnePlus has left that same uh oxygen OS with that clean OS experience like spotless, not a lot of bloatware built into this thing. When you turn this on, for the very first time, it's spotless, like you only like two or three OnePlus apps, and that's it and no issues from the bloatware from me, minimal bloatware is probably one of the biggest things so big shout-outs to OnePlus for keeping this thing nice and clean with the OS.

So if we actually take a look at the device itself notice you're going to get a 6.5 inch display on this device, it's beautiful, very vibrant, nice and colorful runs the full gamut. The screen only shows in 1080p, but you can take full advantage of the 120 hertz refresh rate that it comes on by default. Nodes toggling from the beginning: it comes on 120 hertz, on that refresh rate, very snappy, very fluid, very intuitive, and I've had no issues with running it and normally, when you run the 120 hertz, you get battery issues with this device. I get all day battery. There have been no issues with the battery life even running at 120, hertz, refresh rate all day long now there are other settings that you can go in and change and make your screen either more vibrant, more vivid, but basically this only works for certain applications.

So just keep that in mind. Instagram is probably one of those applications that you can use. These features in right now, but hopefully very soon. There will be more of these to come. So now that we talked about the screen, let's look at some placements of the buttons on this, because on the left side, that's where you're going to have your volume, rockers toggle, those up and down they're nice and tactile.

You don't have to worry about any lag when you're pressing your volume buttons and then, if you look on the other side, that's where your power button resides, and you also have a vibrated toggle. So this toggle I've heard some people say that there's maybe a little loose, and I'm thinking that that is just the phone that they got because I've had no issue. This thing clicks, it sticks, and it's right on time. I see nothing wrong with any of these toggles on this device. It also comes with USB type-c charging and that's where your warp charging comes in at you see.

You got that 65 watt, brick that comes in the box. You don't have to go out and buy anything extra. Furthermore, you do have a 65 watt, adapter comes with the phone, and you actually get that signature, red and white cable that comes with your device. So you get that warp charge on your device right out of the box. It has all glass front and then the back feels like a more plastic uh type of material it.

If you, if you held this in your hand, you would probably say that this was a cheaper device, because it doesn't feel as premium, maybe as some others, but the back is really glossy uh. It gets tons of fingerprints, and it's really slippery. So if I had anything to complain about it's, the lack of a grip on this device and the amount of fingerprints you can leave on here and like just cover it up with a case, and you're good to go slap it on slap a skin on and that's it let it ride. And while we're talking about the back, we cannot forget the camera. So we do have a 48 megapixel camera back there.

We do have ultra-wide lens, and we have one that's 2 megapixels and that's basically for your monochrome and like I've, normally never just used monochrome like for a camera um. Normally. If I want to change a colored photo into black and white, I just edit it so not sure where the 2 megapixel comes in at. But the camera looks perfect when you're taking steals only issue is there's a shutter lag now. I know people complain about shutter lag all the time, but it's a very big deal if you have kids or if you have pets, and you're trying to get pictures of motion and things like that when you move them out of the frame, sometimes they disappear, and you can't go back and get that memory.

So shutter lag is probably one of my biggest strongest complaints about this, because we take these things everywhere. We go, and our lives are on here and our kids are all over. These phones, so shutter lag improvement would be something big for the next iteration of the OnePlus phone. So now that we've talked about the actual device itself. What about the experience? Well, I told you that the screen was beautiful.

It's gorgeous and with the 120 hertz refresh rate, it's nice, it's snappy, and it's extremely fluid the colors really pop out at you. The OS is a joy to use, and I've really had no complaints like mentioned. This is my first OnePlus device, and I've really enjoyed using this. I put my Samsung phone down for a while, and I've been using this one exclusively now with Verizon. You don't just get all the features you kind of got to go in and tweak some stuff like for your text messages just because of the network changes, but I will say using this thing has been a joy.

My alerts come through. The call quality is great. I can hear really well on it and that's something that a lot of people don't mention in these reviews is call quality, because after all, this thing is a phone right, so call quality is nice and crisp and clear. It has 5g support, even though I've not been able to pick up 5g in my area with this device. Now with my iPhone as well as my Samsung, I'm able to pick up 5g all around my house, but this one is still showing up LTE.

So I'm not sure if there's something with the antenna going on, and it's just not picking up the 5g network, but hopefully I will be able to wander into a zone where I can pick up some 5g, so I can test those speeds out and the overall user experience with this device has been phenomenal. Um, like I said, I'm a first time user of the OnePlus, the oxygen OS, and I've had no problems with it. I'm an android fan through and through. I do use iPhone on occasion, but this device has really been something that I could probably wrap my hands around and see myself using on a day-to-day basis. Now it's not the flashiest, it doesn't have the most features and all the bells and whistles, but you didn't pay for that.

You put the 729 buck price tag on something versus the 1200 price tag, and you're definitely going to lose out on some of those features. But, let's be honest, let's be real. How many of us use all the features that come with the Samsung ultra phones or the pro phones or the max phones? We don't use half the things that are on there. This phone is just enough to get you where you want to go and where you need to be now, would I recommend this to a person who comes from the s21 ultra or the 12 pro max most? Definitely, I would recommend it, but would they listen? Probably not because the person that goes out and buys those phones are true fans of the ultra series, they're true fans of the max series. They probably wouldn't go to this phone from that phone, but for the person who just wants a phone, that's going to do ordinary smartphone stuff.

That's gonna! Give you a little more freedom. That's going to give you a perfect camera experience. That's going to give you a perfect video experience. That's going to get you the basics and exactly what they need. This phone.

Is it this phone is the basics of everything that you need it's going to get you perfect pictures. It's going to get you perfect call quality! It's going to get you good video! Furthermore, it's going to get you good battery life! Furthermore, it's going to get you an awesome screen, it's going to get you 120, hertz, refresh rate, that's going to be smooth, crisp and on point every time you touch it. Furthermore, it gets you a fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, it also gives you reverse wireless charging, 65 watt warp charging. What more I like, I can keep going on, and the average person would love to use this phone, and I could recommend this to just about anybody but fanboys who are like way up here on the Samsung scale or fanboys, who are way up here on the apple scale, are not gonna.

Have the open mind to try out one of these. So, I'm just saying open your mind up look at the possibilities. This phone is a really, really good phone. It has all the features that you would need all the features that you would probably want, and really all the features that you are going to use on a daily basis and let's face it, even the reverse wireless charge. Many of us don't use that on a day-to-day basis.

It's more of a gimmicky thing we can show off to our friends. Oh, let me charge your phone up book and there you go. Everything looks good feels good. It's a little slick. A little slippery has a plastic feel to it slap a case on it, and you're good to go.

I did order me a case from sign, so that we'll be in later on next week. The oxygen OS is really smooth, it's really easy to use and if you're coming over from anything other than apple you're, going to be able to pick this up and run with it and no issues on a scale of one to five, I give the one plus nine four out of five. It feels good looks good, it's just a little slippery, a little slick in my hands and that's something I can deal with and that's pretty much if it's a perfect phone at a perfect price. So hopefully this has been able to help someone out. So this has been my review of the OnePlus 9.

It's the perfect device to get you where you want to be until next time, average tech guy out peace.
