OnePlus 9 Pro: Long Term Review!

I love, OnePlus phones, they started as flagship killers with the same high-end processor, but have the price, and they were selling like hotcakes, but the one thing I feel they were missing out was just to make the exact same phone just twice as expensive. Is it uh? Does it even make sense? Well, no, but that's exactly what OnePlus has been doing hmm, but did they improve the camera to finally make it as good as on galaxies and iPhones? No, not really. It's still pretty much the same cameras on the OnePlus 8 pro, alright, I'm being sarcastic yeah, but what I'm actually super excited about is our sponsor best buy, which now has a bunch of OnePlus phones and offers a safe shopping. Experience check the link in the description to this video to learn more. I have been using the OnePlus 9 pro for more than a month now, and I was super excited about it, and it hasn't disappointed me in any major way, but I don't think it has lived up to the hype either. OnePlus is a different company.

Now it's no longer about invites exclusivity and just making one great phone at a time like Samsung. It now sells a bunch of models, budget to flagship and everything in between it's all about big business and good old-fashioned money-making. That's perfectly fine, but it also means we have to get rid of the romantic idealistic narrative around it. Never settle on everything, so the OnePlus 9 pro is just another flagship and a pretty damn good one. If you ask me compared to apples and oranges or Samsung's, rather it's a phone that doesn't weigh half a pound.

It has a luxurious masterpiece, design that just looks nice and with slightly curved edges. It fits comfortably in the hand, unlike those pro max sized apples, not these. Yes, that one it's now been more than a month since I've started using this phone and one major software update later it has really improved the battery life. I was having very mixed results with battery life in the beginning. Sometimes the battery will drop faster when using the camera, and it was hard to predict whether you make it through the day, but I'm happy to say that after a software update, the 9 pro gets a much more reliable and solid battery life now still not quite as good as on the galaxy s21 ultra or the iPhone 12 Pro max, but almost there.

One thing I found it excels in, however, is Wi-Fi coverage. That's something I usually don't even talk about in reviews, since most phones are about the same, but not the 9 pro, it was the only phone that would get solid. Wi-Fi coverage in my balcony, while iPhones and galaxies would not get any Wi-Fi signal there, and I've tried this in different locations and the OnePlus 9 pro always managed to get a solid, Wi-Fi connection even far away from a router. I love that and if you have a larger house and have some blind Wi-Fi spots, you might just get great connection on the OnePlus 9 pro better than on your previous phone. Strangely, I cannot say the same thing about cellular signal which I often lost in underground spaces, like a public garage where other phones would still have signal.

I have had this issue on previous OnePlus phones as well, so I really hope it gets fixed. Sooner. OnePlus also made a big fuss about the screen. Being this revolutionary super well-balanced display, which, for the most part, it is its a beautiful 6.7 inch AMOLED panel with 1440p sharp resolution. It supports HDR and gets very bright outdoors, but honestly, unless you're, obsessive with screen quality, it's just another great AMOLED screen, just like most Samsung phones and iPhones.

It's really hard to find much of a difference. They all look great. At the same time, I also noticed that 120hz on OnePlus doesn't work across all apps and, for example, in skype, the phone weirdly switches to a very choppy 60hz, which doesn't happen on other phones. For example, that's just strange and, as I have already started being nitpick, let me also say that if you're used to the raised wake function on other phones, you're in for a disappointment, this the OnePlus oxygen interface, doesn't have it, and you have to manually tap the screen instead of just conveniently raising it, which is another annoyance and about that camera. Yes, it's really that similar to the OnePlus 8 pro from last year and most of the improvements are actually in the ultra-wide camera, not the main one, and also did I mention that the camera UI is just a shameless copy of the iPhone so much so that it's kind of embarrassing for OnePlus.

By the way we have a super detailed camera comparison that you can watch somewhere here. The link should be in the description, but the gist of it is that Samsung and apple usually record more pleasing colors in photos, and they also perform better in low light and yeah. The galaxy has far better zooming capabilities than the OnePlus. That's for sure. I should also touch upon the overheating issues.

There is now a 32-page thread on OnePlus forums, where many users report that the phone is prone to overheating, while taking photos and videos, and even OnePlus has admitted that this is a known issue. Basically, when it overheats, you get a message saying, the phone is unable to take pictures as the phone's temperature is too high. It seems that the issue only affects some units, as we have not been able to get our unit to overheat, but for those that have the issue, the one update that we have already received so far hasn't fixed that completely, and this only adds to spoil OnePlus supposed big camera moment. Also, if you care about video recording, you would be a bit disappointed to know. There is no HDR video recording option that is now pretty much the standard across those galaxies and iPhones.

We keep on mentioning, but still regular. Video looks just fine, very stable, not bad at all. It's just not the revolution that you might expect with all the hype Hasselblad and everything around it and I feel to understand why OnePlus insists on including a black and white monochrome camera. It is hidden deep in the camera menu so that the chance of someone actually using it or finding it goes down to about zero. Now, even if you do use it, you'll find photos looking just like any other photos shot without such a camera, just with a black and white filter, applied what a waste.

So at the end of the day, this phone has not disappointed me in any major way. Just like I said, and just like all OnePlus phones. I love how it feels superfast, and the interface is also clean, plus it's incredibly quick to charge, which I appreciate. I just think that the similar phone already exists, and that is the OnePlus 8 pro from last year, which now costs 700, which is much more reasonable than the 1070 dollars that OnePlus charges for the 9 pro last year's model also has a great camera, and I love photography. Don't misunderstand me: just like everyone else.

I want to have a great camera, but even I pixel peeping and everything can barely see a difference in image quality between the 9 pro and the 8 pro, and then both phones feel similarly fast have the same 120hz refresh rate same interface. So the more I think about it. The more. I think that the 9 pro is a bit like a mid-cycle upgrade slightly faster processor, faster charging and 5g connectivity. Nothing major! So should you spend more than a thousand dollars for the latest OnePlus phone? Well, what I can tell you are that, if you're looking for the best deals and the safe shopping experience best buy, now, has the full OnePlus lineup all the way from the budget, word series of phones to the nine pro, and if you want to save up the regular OnePlus 9 model is also available, and it might just be the more reasonable purchase best of all best buy, provides a safe and convenient in-store shopping environment, or you can order online and select curbside pickup for an even safer experience.

Plus. You can also make an appointment to activate your phone safely and easily so check out the link in the description to this video, where you can find the latest deals and get upgraded to a new OnePlus phone over at Best Buy in no time back to the OnePlus. I give it a big thumbs up for the charging innovations. A full charge in under 30 minutes is just incredible, but probably even more so the wireless charging, which is much more convenient and still charges the phone fully in just about 40 minutes. So if you really want the very latest shiny tag, sure it will not disappoint, it's just that you can save up and buy the older model without missing out on much.

If anything and if that's a bit anticlimactic. Well, maybe it is, but let me know why you think I'm wrong in the comments below or why you think, I'm right any OnePlus 9 pro users. Let me know your thoughts about this phone, but that's been it for this video, I'm Vic. This is phone arena. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you when I see you, you.
