Hi everyone- this is JD your gadget review friend, we're continuing to review and compare devices in flash are scheduled for the next couple of weeks. You can also check our twitter community at gadget rev now for updates. We just unboxed and compared OnePlus 10 against other flagship devices, and we also ordered last year's OnePlus 8 to see and compare if OnePlus 9 is greater, or we are just better off sticking to last year's OnePlus 8. You can get this phone for as low as 450 USD in AliExpress and, if you're, not into that Hasselblad and OnePlus partnership, does the sheer performance and value of OnePlus 8 enough for you to go for last year. Today we will unbox and give our first impression of OnePlus 8. Is it still worth it or is it a better deal? Hey don't forget to subscribe.
My friend, let's go. Let's start with the box, it's a little huge compared to some phone boxes today. On top, you only have the number eight one plus logo on one side, one plus lame on the other side, nothing here and another one plus name on the other side at the bottom you'll see the variant we have the eight gigs of ROM and 128 gigs of storage. Let's open the box on top right away. You will see the never settle manual with all the information and guide about the phone.
After that, you will see the phone wrapped in plastic. We will check this later, but for now let's see what else is inside the box. We have a free jelly case like what we have on one plus nine. This is nice. We also have that red iconic cable from OnePlus that is USB type, a from one end to USB type c.
On the other end and, of course, the sim ejector tool opening the red compartment. We have the 30 watts warp charger- it's not as fast as OnePlus 9's 65 watts, but you can charge one plus eight from zero to fifty percent in 22 minutes as advertised. We will test to see if that's true now, let's unwrap the phone, I'm sweating right now, and this phone is fingerprint magnet. You can easily smudge the glossy glass both front and back. It has that nice center pill-shaped camera module and this one has good weight to it.
It's a little lighter than one plus nine, I think both front and back is protected by gorilla glass.5. Let's check the button placement, you have the power button and mute slider on one side microphone on top, you have the volume buttons on the other side, as you can see, and sim card tray, microphone, charging, port and speakers at the bottom. It's nice that you have a clear case for you to see the good-looking camera module, OnePlus logo and OnePlus name at the back now, let's turn on the phone and set it up for the first time. Okay, we just finished setting it up to save time. Now, let's check the home screen, it has a huge 6.55, fluid AMOLED screen with 90hz refresh rate. I know the smoothness in scrolling through the home screen.
Now, let's check the specification under the about page on the settings menu. This phone is running android 11 on snapdragon 865, with 8 gigs of ram and 128 gigs of storage. It also has a triple camera setup and that 90 hertz fluid AMOLED screen. Now, let's check the camera again. This is our initial impression of the camera, and we will do a full testing of it and release an awesome review after the image looks good.
It is sharp punchy and true to life. I will do a side by side comparison of this phone and OnePlus 9 right away to see if there are improvements on the sensor when Hasselblad came in to tweak it. This will be interesting. So there you go for 450 us dollars. You have the manual the sim ejector tool, type-c, cable, 30, watts, charger, a speedy phone running on snapdragon 865, not the fastest around, but still an overkill for an android operating system and a free jelly case, not bad.
I think this is a solid choice: the difference between this and the newer OnePlus 9 or snapdragon 888, the Hasselblad camera, the 65 watts charger and that 8k recording. But if you don't need those OnePlus 8 for 450 us dollars is a great deal. If you are not solved in that Hasselblad hype. I'd say you go for this.
