Hi there, my name is Sam from roses and welcome to the new comparison, video between the OnePlus 8 pro and the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra. It is a comparison between the top dock Samsung and the Canada OnePlus. Actually OnePlus lost its status of an underROG because they upped their game over the last couple of years. Let's find out the difference between these two android devices and which one is actually the better one. Let's start straight away with our review, let the facts speak design. The OnePlus 8 pro has a clean design with a matte finish.
The quad camera system is well positioned on the upper center on the back of the phone. The camera bump is pretty big and sticks out a lot. That is something we don't really like. The smartphone weighs 199 gram, it's roughly 16.53 centimeter long, 7.44, centimeter wide and 0.85 centimeter deep. It has an USB connector and thanks to an ip68 rating, it is finally water and dust resistant which previous models weren't.
The 8 pro uses face recognition technology and a fingerprint scanner which is built onto the screen to unlock the phone. The face recognition technology worked perfect at daylight and also good in a weak light environment. Samsung uses a very elegant glossy finish for its galaxy s20 ultra. The quad camera system is also well positioned in the upper left corner on the back of the phone, but has the same problem as its competitor. It just sticks out a lot.
The smartphone weighs 220 gram, it's roughly 16.69 centimeter long, 7.6, centimeter wide and 0.88 centimeter deep. It has an USB-C connector. The ip68 rating makes it also water and dust resistant. The s20 is same as the 8 pro uses, phase recognition technology and a fingerprint scanner which is built into the screen to unlock the phone. Both technologies were great.
We had a discussion whether the point for design goes to the galaxy or the 8 pro, and we came to the conclusion that the 8 pro looks very good, but it has compared to the galaxy and more childish look. Maybe that's due to the bright colors or because it looks like it could have been an old galaxy version. The galaxy's design seems more grown up and therefore has a more high quality. Look to it, but that's all preferences. What do you think do you prefer Samsung's design or that of the 8 pro be sure to post your comments? We'd love to hear what you think display the 8 pro has a 6.78 inch display with a 1440p resolution. It uses a very bright olive screen which creates very accurate colors.
The 6.78 inch display, therefore, measures 17.2, centimeter diagonally, with a pixel density of 513 PPI. Whether a picture looks fluid or not depends on the refresh rate and a feature that every flagship got to have in 2020 is a high refresh rate. The OnePlus 8 pro has a high 120 hertz. The galaxy s20 ultra has a 6.9 inch display with a 1440p resolution. It is fitted with an old screen which also does a fantastic job.
The s20 ultra's display measures, 17.44 centimeter diagonally, with a pixel density of 511 PPI. The galaxy also had the 2020 master feature of an impressive 120 120hz refresh rate, comparing the displays and choosing a winner was very difficult for us. Both phones have great big screens. The 6.9 edge display from the galaxy s20 is slightly bigger than that of the OnePlus 8 pro, but the 8 pro screen is brighter, and it has a higher pixel density than that of its rival. Both phones have 120 hertz refresh rate.
The deciding factor for us was the edge of the screen. Samsung's solution is just better than the curved edge of the OnePlus. It just so happens that you have extended touches on the screen while holding the phone in your hands. Therefore, the winner of this category is the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra performance. This version of the OnePlus 8 pro has 256 gigabyte internal storage capacity.
It is equipped with a superfast Qualcomm, snapdragon, 800, 65 chips with one time 2.84 gigahertz and three times, 2.42 gigahertz and four times 1.8 gigahertz and has 12 gigabyte ram, there's also an 8 gigabyte ram model with an internal storage capacity of 128 gigabytes available. This storage capacity unfortunately, cannot be expanded. The galaxy s20 ultra model that we use in this comparison has a Samsung Enos 990 ships, with 2 times, 2.7 gigahertz and the 4 times 2.4 gigahertz and the 2 times 1.95 gigahertz for silent performance. Keep in mind that this is the European version, the s20 ultra version, which is sold on the USA, china and South Korea has also the snapdragon 865 built in this phone. Has 12 gigabyte ram with 128 gigabyte internal storage capacity, there's also a 16 gigabyte ram model with 512 gigabyte internal storage capacity on the market.
This dodge capacity can typically be expanded by up to one terabyte. Both phones have similar specs when it comes to performance, so the an tutu benchmark test will decide which phone performs better. The benchmark test decide that the OnePlus 8 provinces, but keep in mind that the galaxy s20 ultra storage capacity can be expanded, which is a big plus for a lot of people. Still. The point here goes to the OnePlus 8 pro camerae.
A deciding factor for most people is the performance of the camera system. The 8 pro has 4 main cameras: the primary and ultra-right camera with 48 megapixels, a telephoto camera with 8 megapixels and a color filter lens camera with 5 megapixels. You can find the front camera in the upper left corner of the screen in the so-called hole punch notch. Its resolution is 16 megapixels, the OnePlus 8 pro records 4k videos at a maximum of 60 frames per second. It also has image stabilization for video.
The s20 ultra has also four main cameras: ultra ride, wide angle, telephoto and death vision. The cameras have a resolution of 108 megapixels, 12 megapixels and 48 megapixels. The front camera's resolution is 40 megapixels, the Samsung Galaxy s20 also records 8k videos at a maximum of 24 frames per second, and of course it has image stabilization for video too. So much for that, let's check out how each camera performs and which camera system actually comes out on top one thing that OnePlus really improved in this smartphone was definitely the camera system. Both phones took really sharp pictures and the color rendering was also good, but Samsung's experience paid off the galaxy's photos were just better than those of the 8 pro the 8 pro had the 3 volt optical and a 34 digital zoom feature.
The s20 ultra, on the other hand, had a 10 volt optical and a 100 volt digital zoom. But once again, all the way zoomed in no photo taken with either of the phones looks good. It is still a fun feature, though, but doesn't make sense if you'd like to take high-res pictures. The winner here is the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra thanks to a resolution of 8k, produces top quality videos. Full HD mode offers 240 frames per second in HD mode up to 960 frames per second, which records really great slow motion.
Videos. The 8 pro thanks to a resolution of 4k, also produces first-class videos with 480 frames per second and 720p mode and 240 frames per second in full HD mode. Your slow-motion videos are a go. In conclusion. We can say that both smartphones feature excellent camera systems.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra cameras were more satisfying, and this point therefore goes to the Samsung battery the 8 pro when fully charged has 4510 William hours. On the other hand, the Samsung went fully charged at 5 000 William hours in terms of capacity the should last longer. We will see if that's really the case in our day-to-day usage test due to the larger battery, the s20 ultra wins in this comparison, the 8 pro comes just a little behind the Samsung. This point therefore goes to the s20, because once again, a longer screen, time and everyday usage, the most crucial issue with normal use, both phones lasted easily an entire day without any problems. Conclusion the Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra scores in terms of design, simply because it has a more grown up appeal.
The s20 ultra also wins in terms of display. The edge of the 8 pro is outdated and falls. Therefore, behind unexpectedly, the OnePlus 8 pro wins. When it comes to performance, it got a better result on our benchmark test. The point for the camera goes to the galaxy.
It simply takes slightly better pictures. The final point for the battery life goes to the galaxy s20 ultra because it lasted just a little longer than the competitor. The Samsung Galaxy. S20 ultra is therefore the winner of this comparison. It runs four out of five categories, but still the OnePlus 8 pros is a propped phone.
It only fell behind by just a little in most of the categories.
