OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20+ - Flagship Battle - Which One is Right for YOU?

Show me, sir show me. Sir Shelby starts 1+8 Pro in a Samsung Galaxy s, 20 plus are two of the biggest flagships in 2020 and actually have quite a lot in common, so they're going to be comparing these two phones, so hopefully, if you're unsure, which one to buy, buy it in this video you'll be able to make a decision by the way. These videos do take a long time to make, and I buy all these products myself to review I, don't get sent anything. So if you do going to enjoy this video, give it a thumbs up and do subscribe to see more videos like this. If we much appreciate it, and it will help keep the channel going, let's get straight into it. It's about fun.

We've got these huge screens and the Samsung s.20 plus, has a six point. Seven-inch screen and the OnePlus 8 pro has a six point. Seven eight-inch screen, so it's slightly bigger. Also, the Samsung has the hole punch cut out in the middle there, and the OnePlus 8 pro has the hole punch cut out on the top left. I thought this above me: the lack of symmetry but actually kind of get used to it after a while.

So on the OnePlus, we do have the lock key on the right hand, side and the volume keys on the left-hand side. We use this phone for a couple of weeks and never really got used to that, but it does have an alert slider on the right-hand side. So you can switch between vibration, silent and loud mode, which is actually quite handy, and I found myself using it quite a lot, but I did find myself accidentally switching it a few times which can prepared, if you're in a meeting or something else in East Wichita loud. So there is that, if you do have one of these physical alert sliders the Samsung, however just has the lock button and the volume keys on the right-hand side other than that they're pretty much identical with the USB port and the speaker grille at the bottom, and not much going on at the top. They do differ in their approach to the cameras on the back.

The Samsung actually has the camera module here on the corner of the phone, whereas the OnePlus goes for putting the camera module in the middle of the phone after you prefer Samsung's approach, because on the 1 plus and upholding my finger over the camera module, and it's a little awkward. Also, the OnePlus 8 pro is already slightly thicker than the Samsung and Galaxy S 20 plus. But then the huge camera module actually makes it even thicker than that and due to the huge camera module, you also get that table wobble and the most people don't like it. Readers stick out quite a lot from the back, so design wise. If I had to choose.

Both phones are very, very similar, but I think Samsung. Just has it for me and the fact that is thinner. The camera module doesn't stick out as much and I do like the hole punch cut out in the middle a little more going back to these screens, then both are quad, HD, 120, Hertz screens and both look incredible. The Samsung is actually sometimes actually known for its great screens, but in this case the one plus just looks great. The colors seem mantilla, it goes a little brighter, and it just is really, really impressive screen another advantage from the OnePlus is it actually does 120 Hertz at quad HD, whereas with the Samsung you do have to choose between 60 Hertz at quad, HD or 120 Hertz at normal HD.

So this runs both of them. I, wouldn't necessarily recommend running both of them as 120 Hertz at quad. HD could run down your battery life quite a bit and one that for Samsung. At the moment, though- and this is mainly due to software, but Samsung does have that always-on display the 1+8 is definitely capable of the always-on display, but at the moment at the time of writing, it doesn't do it. OnePlus have confirmed they are working on one.

At the moment you do get that ambient display, which is sort of. If you pick up your phone, it will turn on the screen like that or if you tap your phone, the same thing will happen, but it's not the same as always on display, in my opinion, so Samsung does have it for me in that area. But having said that in general, in terms of screens, I actually really like the OnePlus 8 pro screens, so that wins it for me. So next up is cameras, and we'll be talking a lot about the cameras because they're my specialty, but also a perfect camera, is what separates a good phone from a great phone in 2020. So if you're not bothered about the cameras, use a time codes down below in the description to skip it and give me a thumbs up for saving the time on to the cameras on the back and both phones are rocking a quad camera setup, both of them doing it a slightly different way.

But despite this, one plus actually holds up to the Samsung in 2021 plus always been one of these brands. That has undercut other flagships in price and also met them on features. But their camera has always been a bit in that, but that is not the case this year. Looking at these first shots using the wide-angle cameras on both phones, you start seeing there's no huge amount of difference, at least in the processing one-plus goes for a more contrast. You look where, as Samsung goes for a flatter look, the s20 plus also adds slightly more saturation which I like, but it is personal preference.

Interestingly, the wide-angle camera on the OnePlus seems slightly sharper as it retains detail a bit more as we zoom in, but it's 48 no pixel as opposed to the s 20s 12 megapixels. Looking at the main and telephoto cameras is pretty much the same story of the OnePlus more than holding its own a doubt. Most people will be able to tell difference between these two cameras. Interestingly, there wasn't any difference in detail between the telephoto cameras, the spot, the Samsung having a 64 may pitch was hello photo and the OnePlus only having an 8 megapixel. It also noticed that OnePlus has some color shift between the lenses too moving on to portrait, and you can see that both cameras have cut me out really well here, with the OnePlus blur being slightly more unrealistic, and that could be due to lack of depth sensor, which the s20 Plus has.

The same was true when shooting this object, even though most people are going to be using portrait in this kind of way, it's clear that OnePlus blurred a bit of the statue writing, whereas Samsung has kept it all in focus instead of combing for a depth sensor, one plus added a color filter camera, which, for the most part that was kind of useless. You can see through some electronics, which is pretty cool and even close, which isn't just weird there's plenty of videos on this, but it's just a wasted camera and a dedicated depth sensor or time. A fly sensor would've been a bit more useful, also I'm, not sure if it's just my model, but I could not get this camera to focus at all. Jumping into the video then, and I've said it before. I, do not like Samsung's 4k video at all, it's over sharpened and messy, but the OnePlus is crisp and not too over sharp and the emission table station on the OnePlus 8 pro is also incredibly good.

It's decent on the Samsung. We have to give credit for the OnePlus for this incredible performance. I did run into some issues with the OnePlus video, though like here, for example, where the video just seemed choppy I'm, not entirely sure why this happens, but it definitely ruins this shot where Samsung makes up for its rubbish.4K, though, is that 8k video, which some of said was a gimmick but I, think it's excellent and well worth using. If you don't mind using the telephoto camera to get I have a dedicated video on that Samsung s, 20 a K, video, and I'll link that below in the description and put it up here somewhere. So in terms of cameras, OnePlus is now in the game.

It's definitely competing now over the OnePlus. A pro and the camera are perfect for most people, but I still think I'd go for the Samsung cameras, and that is because I think they're more consistent in terms of the colors better in terms of the portrait mode, and sometimes I just take a photo on the 1+8 throat, and it just is a little mushy. And so it's not as consistent as the Samsung cameras, and it said that if you're using your camera's, mainly for 4k video, don't go for the Samsung. Just don't now the speed of these two devices where it gets a little complicated, I'm in the Europe, and so my Samsung is using the Enos chip, which is definitely not as fast as a snapdragon 865, whereas the OnePlus 8 pro that I have is using that snapdragon 865, but I do have to say the OnePlus. A pro is probably the snappiest phone I've ever used.

It is lightning quick. They never really lagged at all there's a couple of glitches, but it's not read down to the speed of the phone. Obviously, this is helped by the Snapdragon chip and 120 Hertz screen just making everything feel so fast. I think the animations do actually help as well, obviously, because I'm using the excellence version of the Samsung, it's not really a fair comparison. Samsung is still great and don't get me wrong.

A lot of people have said: if they had to get the Enos version, then they wouldn't get the Samsung at all, but then get me wrong. I've never really noticed any lag on the Samsung s, 20 I'm sure the Snapdragon 85 would be better in terms of some processing, capabilities of the camera modules and also battery life as well. But overall I was just amazed by how good the by how faster than one plus a pro was. So there are common workings to note when choosing between these two phones- and one of them is the UI. So both phones are running.

The latest version of Android Samsung is running its one UI to skin. On top of Android and 1+8 Pro is running oxygen OS. So oxygen is a little closer to the stock Android experience. Some people might prefer that, but I actually prefer Samsung, because they've refined some of the features there's so much customization and generally I. Just think Samsung has that you ride down some people, don't like those vibrant colors and those icons though, but we're V referring.

You can throw a launch over the top of it and customize it to make it you right. Finally, if you're an AI person on Samsung, you are forced to use that big speed, and you do get Samsung daily on the home screen, whereas on the 1+8 pro you get Google Assistant, and you do have that Google home screen, which I kind of prefer. So these phones are actually very similar and I, think which one you choose comes down to, whether you want the more stock experience on the OnePlus 8 Pro, also of a more customizable and less stock experience on the Samsung, and also it comes down to your personal preference, on what you thought of the camera comparison as well. Another thing it comes down to is whether you're in Europe, of course, because then you'll get the Enos chip on the Samsung and it's definitely not as quick or snappy as the snapdragon 86 5 chips on the 1 + 8 Pro. But having said that on the Samsung I haven't noticed any slowdowns or any lag, so don't think that by getting the Samsung with Enos chip and that you are downgrading if I'm allowed to offer my opinion, I think I'd still go over the Samsung I'm, just a fan of their UI.

Some people are, and I'm also a fan of their cameras, their color process and then that kind of thing which I use actually quite a lot. So it always sticks with the Samsung, but their 1 + 8 Pro does offer a value proposition in that it's 150 quid cheaper in the UK than the Samsung and Samsung doesn't offer that many more features, so the OnePlus 8 pro does have a better value and I think most people would be happy with this phone. So if that said, that's it from me, I'm going to stop juggling these phones. So that said, that's it from me. I hope you found this video, enjoyable or informative, and if you did please give it a thumbs up.
