New BlackBerry 2021 Update: No New News... But That's Ok! By TechOdyssey

Hey everybody welcome back to tech odyssey. So today, I'm here to talk about onward mobility and the 2021 blackberry. A lot of people lately have been asking me a lot of questions. Hey we haven't heard anything in a while. Is there any new news? Is there anything you can tell us what's going on, and I think these are pretty natural questions to ask. I mean everybody's really excited about the new phone.

I did an interview already. Furthermore, I've made lots of videos about this there's quite a bit of information out there regarding this whole new blackberry to come out in 2021, and I'm going to go ahead and talk about this, but before we get into it, I do want to say if this is your first time stopping by the channel. Let's talk about blackberry, okay, so news on blackberry.

I don't have any, but I don't think that's a bad thing and that's the important thing that I'm here to say. I ended up getting tied up in a conversation on crack berry the other day. There were people that were concerned about it and I have heard from onward mobility. I just don't have any new information. They don't have any new information to pass on.

I sent them a list of questions about probably about three or four weeks ago, and I wanted to do another interview, not so much about the device. Just I had some like high level questions that I want to talk about some philosophy going into this new device. Maybe some thoughts might be driving it talking about. You know the timing, of course, because the blackberry 10 devices most of them, if not all of them, don't support voice over LTE, and they're, going to be not be able to use on a lot of networks. Here in the US, like my blackberry, 10 devices, my q10, my z10, not going to work on T-Mobile starting in January 2021 and then in on a t 2022, it's kind of a good time to migrate things over, especially because black grade 10 is going to reach end of life on 2022, so 2021 seems to be the magical witching hour for getting a new device out there, and I sent some questions over there like hey.

These are good questions and I didn't hear anything, so then I followed back up and directly asked if you know he wanted to do another interview and talk some more, and they're like look. We don't have anything to say right now when we do, you'll be the first one to know we're going to put you on a priority media list. So that's great, I'm glad that the lines of communication are open between them and me, but there's nothing new, and I don't think that's a bad thing like I was saying a second ago, and I've told this to a lot of people. I never expected to hear anything until at least January anyway. They came out, they said, look we're here.

This is what we're going to do. Did some interviews did some discussion about the revival of blackberry in their vision for what's going to happen, so I didn't really expect a lot now. It takes time even with the big guys like apple and Samsung. It takes eight to ten months to bring a device to market. They just entered into this licensing agreement in like the second half of august, so we've got September October November December.

It hasn't been that long, and they said it was going to be the first half of 2021. That's a long time. We got January February march April may June the end of june 30th that's when they have according to their timeline. So and I do listen to other stuff. So I'm listening to the very reporter blackberry brad was talking with peter not too long ago, and they said they had some exciting stuff to share soon.

My guess is soon is going to be early 2021. What happens in early 2021 CES Consumer Electronics Show that's a big deal. A lot of stuff gets announced there. Would it surprise me if they were saving it to put something out, then no it wouldn't at all. That would be a very natural place for something like that to come out.

If nothing comes out in CES, I'm still not going to be terribly worried just because it's still kind of new in the life cycle of getting this phone brought to market so yeah. I would really like to see something there. If they don't. I think that would be maybe a missed opportunity for some buzz, because if you look around at the response in the community and the YouTube videos- and the news articles like- I think, people kind of are looking forward to this phone coming out- and I talked to peter about this- I've said this before. I think this is the time I think the market is ripe for a new blackberry.

This right here is a novel form factor going into 2020 2021. There are a lot of new designs and phones. You look at the lg wing, you look at the fold. You look at the z flip. Furthermore, you look at the Motorola razor.

There are a lot of different things that phone companies are doing with phones now and people don't want the same old and there's a lot of people that really love blackberry. So if we can get this new phone, it is successful, it does well. I think that the markets ready for it. I think people are going to like it once it comes out. Furthermore, I'm really excited about it, not just because it's a blackberry, but because hey these are exciting times for phones.

Furthermore, I have a lot of these other phones. Furthermore, I love my z, flip. Furthermore, I love my fold. Furthermore, I'm looking forward to having another form factor back on the market, I'm looking forward to a new keyboard phone, that's going to last me for a long time. So don't worry, don't listen to the people out there saying! Oh, my gosh, we haven't heard anything in months.

It's a failure. Look! If it were a failure, then they would tell us it's a failure. They're not going to keep dragging this out just so they can get media attention and I don't owe anything on onward mobility. I'm just a blackberry fan that makes videos. I love the brand, I'm happy for it.

Furthermore, I hope that they do well. Furthermore, I legitimately do because if they do well, then we get a new phone, and then we're going to be really happy. So I want them to succeed. It's very, very short, into the lifespan of this onward. Mobility venture with blackberry.

So don't worry if it gets a couple more months down the road, and we still haven't heard anything yeah. I might start getting skeptical about some things because then it's like all right things don't seem right. We should have heard something by now, I'm expecting something. Probably in January we will get some sort of update. Is that a guarantee? No, do I have any insight? No do I have insider information.

No. This is just Adam j mattock talking on tech, odyssey on my channel saying. This is what I think, and I think January, maybe early February at the latest, would be a reasonable time for them to put some information out, because to my knowledge and my understanding was, I didn't even think they had a form factor nailed down like two months ago. I know that it's going to be a keyboard phone, it's going to be 5g, it's going to be running android, that's kind of all that we know other than like yeah. We wanted to have a flagship camera yeah.

We want it to be a device that you use all the time, not just for work yeah. Furthermore, we want to be the most secure phone in the world and those are great things and I hope every single one of those boxes get checked. But at the end of the day we just want our phone, and you know I'm willing to wait for that. I'm not worried about it. Believe me.

If there was something to be worried about, I would be worried about it and I would tell you um, and then we could all be worried about it, and we can be like you know the little ROG in the in the meme there, with a cup of coffee, with the fire going on saying, everything's, fine. Everything, of course, wouldn't be fine, but look wait enjoy the holidays. We're going to get through Christmas. Ce's is right around the corner, I'm going to be doing tons of coverage for that my ears going to be to the ground and yeah, I'm hoping to hear something from these guys at some point in the next four to six weeks. So we'll see what happens.

Hopefully, it kind of falls into place, and we'll see where things go from there, but don't worry, don't fret. I don't think, there are any problems. I think that we're on track and everything will be okay. So that's all I've got guys. Hopefully this is giving you the information that you were looking for, good banner and different look.

Sometimes no news is good news. Sometimes no news is not bad, and it's logical at this point in the life cycle of this device that they're making they just entered the licensing agreement in the second half of august. That's not a lot of time to build things and put it together. They got to work out the kinks, get the partnerships up and running, get phi h to build the thing, and so they can get prototypes and then start testing it and then get carrier approval and FCC and all that stuff. So there's a lot of things that go into this.

It's not just like. Oh, by the way we built this phone, let's share it. You know it would be bad if they were to go ahead and show something and then end up. Oh, we ran into problems. Oh, we had hiccups.

Oh, we had to change the design. If you put stuff out too early, it can be harmful, and you got to time this stuff. Of course, we want to build momentum, we want to build energy and excitement for this, and if they just throw everything out there in the beginning, you know there's nothing left to share. So, let's just wait for everything to unfurl pay attention. Keep your ears to the ground, enjoy the holidays, we'll see what happens once January gets here.
