My Unboxing of the Blackberry Key 2 And Comparison to the Key 1 Video And Audio Samples @BBMobile By TK Bay

It's about hi everybody and welcome back to the channel today, I have for you, my unboxing of the BlackBerry key to the only device in 2018 that will come out with a qwerty keyboard that not only works as a keyboard, but every single key is a customizable shortcut. This is TK, let's check it out, and here we have it. This is the BlackBerry key one from last year. This is definitely one of the few devices again of last year that had a QWERTY keyboard. We have a fingerprint sensor, that's built into the space bar that works very nice, and it's customizable. I was on Twitter just a second ago, and here we have the BlackBerry key ?, there's some updated bump in specs, as well as some new functionalities, and if you notice right out of the box that they fixed one of the biggest issues ? at least I felt like the key one had and that's the placement of the power button for some reason or another.

It was designed that the power button would be on the left and the volume rocker and the shortcut key on the right, where we now have that all three on the same level and then there's like a little of a textured feeling here on the power button, so we'll get a chance to get dig out, but before we go too far, I want to mention to you guys that the key one itself is not too far from what we have with the key -. We definitely still have the same screen size. We have an on screen navigation buttons here that are built into the display, as well as the fact that we can actually use at the fingerprint sensor here on the bar go home and well, let's go ahead and just go home for app, and then I can use basically the keyboard to be able to swipe right and left even do swipe on the keyboard and, of course, I can customize things all over the place. So let's say here: here's the G I can customize it, and it'll open up and run a certain specific shortcut for me. If I want to a lot of these, things did carry over.

Of course, we have front-facing camera, a single camera on the back where we do have an update here. The main difference, obviously, is that we now have 6 gigs of internal ram built into the device, as opposed to the three we had with the key one, and here we have it the key ? and all its glory. So, overall from what you notice right out of the box, the aesthetics take pretty much the same. What we're looking at here, it's pretty much the same screen display size, and it is a 1080p panel. We still have the navigation button built in at the bottom here.

There's a little bar we'll get a chance to turn that on the keyboard style, pretty much stayed the same, you'll notice right there. The fingerprint sensor is still built into the space bar, a perfect fingerprint sensor here on the key one, and I'm hoping to see basically some improved. We saw there but overall you'll notice that the keyboard is slightly longer and the device is actually a little longer than the other one overall, with the size. As far as the actual back and on the side here we lost the power button on the left. Now we only have the sim tray, which has also a SD card support where we normally have it here, I think it's on the right side, yeah! So that's where it was, so they moved it from the right to the left, which is not a bad idea, and then he kept the shortcut key and the volume rocker in the same position, but they insert the power button in the middle and, as I mentioned to you guys, we do have a little of a texture button here.

That gives us access to basically know which one is the power, the power button, and then the shortcut button is still the same for us right here on the top, we still have a three-and-a-half millimeter headphone jack, a single microphone from the audio on the bottom. We still have a USB type-c single firing speaker at the bottom. Now, as far as the backing, as I mentioned, you guys, we have a SIM tray micro, SD card, the same logo. Of course that's just definitely a same design. The key to I'll go ahead and remove the back, not that nice little sound that we normally get, but definitely very good.

The texture on the back feels very similar I think they kept them pretty much it's a little smaller. As far as the actual texture over here I think the grooves are a little bigger. We have a dual camera setup in the back with the dual tone: LED flash, of course, with the BlackBerry logos sitting in this center. Ok, so let's go ahead and power it on about that little vibration. We put it on the side.

We have a sim removal tool. Some instruction manual welcome to the new Android smartphone, of course, Quick Start Guide and more information that the 12 months limited warranty information. We have a pair of headphones BlackBerry branded, of course, USB-C, 2, USB type, a for charging and data connection, as well as the power break branded with back bearing, of course, this is going to be pretty much very much as standard you notice right there. The buttons did light up now, that's a big difference. From last year, we already had them kind of drawn on the glassware here, they're actually lit.

So as when the display is turned off the buttons go away. You get more of a black scheme right there. It looks pretty nice. Kit comes out of the box with Android 8.1 Oreo and were 7.1.1 nougat is the latest version running on the key one, and it has not been updated. The screen size on both is a 1080p panel, a slightly higher on the resolution.

I'll explain to you why, but it's mostly the aspect ratio of the display at 4.5 inches and 180 grams, a little 268. So you definitely feel that a little of loss and weight there, and I'll explain to you why resolution stole contain is continues to be a 1080 to 1622 1080 1620. The PPI did not change the rear camera setup we have here is a dual camera setup, mostly intended to give us some of that both effect, front-facing and, of course, dual LED flash front-facing camera state at eight megapixels. The chipset did get updated from the snapdragon 625 to the snapdragon 660. It is basically an outscore processor right now running at 2.2 gigahertz, as opposed to what we had at 2.0. Then, of course the Qualcomm Pairing has gone up from the 506 to 512.

We did get a massive bump in ram from three gigs to six. Gigs definitely should help us with multitasking, but we did get a drop in battery size which time it kind of attributes to the loss in weight as well. So we went from a thirty-five hundred million battery to a thirty-three sixty, not a massive drop, but it's still a job fingerprint sensor is still present in the here. As I mentioned you guys with the space bar now we don't have dual NATO Sims. We do have NATO Less and support with an SD card, which is very, very nice now looking at them, both from the front you'll notice.

It's very similar I do have to say that there is a black color version of this one, which kind of makes it a little more unison, but definitely the silver coloring going all around is appreciated here. The actual display, as I mentioned, is exactly the same. It's a 1080p panel. The buttons here on the bottom, are lit our backlit and where we have them drawn here on the glass, so you always see them here and it kind of becomes just a nice look black coloring here the home screen is pretty much same configuration. We have an app drawer if the ability of jumping into the widget and shortcuts here at the top, all these applications, or they have three buttons on the bottom.

If you swipe on them, you give access to their widgets, and you're, able also initiate actions to them. This is running Android, 8.1, so you're able to basically initiate the hub here. Information. Let's go ahead and clicking on again you can add a new tab. We have the activity or the productivity tab here on the right.

You can customize your calendar, your messages, your text, messages, your contacts, all of those things can actually be aggregated into one universal area, and it actually works very well I. Have it configured on the key one, and I'll have to transition that information. Of course, BBM is still present on both, and the deck, basically application. That gives us access to control, and you notice right there. It kind of it as an icon analysis of your device to just tell you what you have the same thing here: I'm gonna, go ahead and skip say, allow, and it'll run an analysis of the device.

Again. This is brand new. Nothing is loaded. We have 64 gigs of internal storage and all the other shortcuts, of course, for check. Battle-Ax battery level check data usage permission and configuration is basically the powerhouse of what you get with this device.

Android by default has a lot of functionalities as what you can control things, but they're generally not present in one area and Blackberry would develop very options that the additions that they had here on Android 8.1. They have definitely improved that you notice the buttons kind of disappear, and you come back when you need them. You're still able to use this as kind of like a mouse pad, and then you're able to configure it. The other thing that we'll notice right here is we do have a shortcut for the microphone is still present here, but now we have the universal app button that gives us access to be able to customize all of our little shortcuts on the keyboard, so you press it on, and you're actually able to go in and customize them and then so press and select. So it's a two button kind of configuration, so you press and hold, and you be really she ate it as opposed to just press and holding and doing one finger options here, I think, overall, it looks pretty good.

Let's look at the camera application. If I'm not mistaken, look like Nancy skipped it. So they do change now we do have that optical zoom. Since we're using the two lenses. We have the OnePlus 2, so it's going to go to definitely, and it's using the secondary lens, so secondary lens is more telephoto lens, giving us access to that bouquet effects.

We have a slow motion panorama, a scanner portrait photo and video. Of course, we have the different effects that we're going to go here, and I will do an audio, quick, video playback. You have the ability of going for 4 by 3 16 by 9 1 by 1 or 3 by 2, so splendid 16 by 9, and then I'm going to go ahead and keep it at HDR is on flash is on, and I'm going to go ahead and switch over to video, and we'll do a quick video sample, front-facing and back facing camera and then switch over to the back facing sensor just doing a quick audio sample again I'm keeping it at 1080p just to stay kind of consistent with the rest of the video, and again it does have enhanced image stabilization. So we should be able to get a good smooth image, specifically out of the back facing sensor and I, kept it at 16 by 9 aspect ratio just to kind of match again the rest of the timeline went ahead and switched over to the front-facing sensor and keeping it again at 1080p 30 frames per second, that is the maximum. You can get the front-facing sensor.

The back sensor can go up all the way to 4k at 30 frames per second, but again, I wanted to keep it consistent. Hopefully this is a good representation of the audio and the video shows up directly out of the key ? built in with the native application. So I'm not customizing anything. This is just turning it on and recording. So here's work quickly, a quick audio sample of the bottom firing speaker again.

This is a mono firing speaker, so this is an NC n song called def key and crimp, while invincible by NCS release. So my initial impressions of the key ? I, like the aesthetics I, like the updates that they went from key one I, like the fact that, of course, that it comes out of the box with Android 8.1, with all the customizations that we had with blackberry, so deck BBM. All those things that you had on the key one are definitely very nice and very set up correctly in here. If you have the ability of doing all the shortcuts on the keyboards, you still have the fingerprint sensor. That's a really nice response to the fingerprint sensor.

That's built into the space bar I! Think it's a nice placement for that, and, of course you know, the swiping ability I think there's a lot of cool things in here now. Is this going to be the flagship of 2018 I? Don't think that's what blackberry is trying to go with that I think blackberry with the keyboard is a niche market. If you're looking for a device with a keyboard, this is the best that you can get if you're looking for a device like it will be a perfect powerhouse for productivity. This is going to be the place that you can go there. Is it great for media consumption if you're using the sweet, 1/2, millimeter, headphone, jack I, think you're going to be fine.

If you're using the speaker, you may be a little disappointed. The aspect. Ratio on the display is a little off, but that's again to compensate for the keyboard and that's more of a blackberry thing again. If you're looking for a keyboard, you're going to have a problem with the display and if you have a problem with the display you're looking at the wrong device, this is not the one for you, but I. Think overall, I'm going to give it a couple more days, and I'll do a recap for you guys, just to kind of just give you guys a heads-up of how this thing has been holding up.

You can obviously with a smaller battery and, of course, just getting my stuff on it.
