M1 iPad Pro (2021) 16GB RAM Or 8GB RAM - Which One To Buy

Hi guys welcome to my channel, so it's nearly time for pre-orders to commence for the new iPad Pro 2021 and in this video. Let's look at what options we have and which model you should go for, but, more importantly, what ram configuration you should go for just before proceeding guys. Please do subscribe and support my channel, so I can continue making these videos for you. So if you haven't already noticed this, then apple for the first time is advertising the amount of ram included in its iPad models. They never did this and the only way to find out how much ram was included in an iPad was to run geek bench tests after having the device enhanced. They went, didn't tell MHD when he personally asked apple ram was never such a pronounced thing on iOS devices, especially iPads, even though it does play an important role when it comes to longevity of the device and software support.

If you look at the history devices with more ram always had extended years of software support, as opposed to ones with lesser ram, I mean take my iPad Air gen 1, for instance, which only has one gigabyte of ram, whereas the next iteration the iPad Air 2 had two gigs which allows it to support iOS 14, whereas iPad Air gen 1 stopped only at iOS 12. But can I just mention that apple still releases software updates even to this iPad? It is not the latest version of OS, but it still gets updates to the iPadOS version 12, which this iPad supports, and the most recent one was in March this year. Can we take a moment to appreciate how seriously cool this is guys? This is iPad Air one, and it's now an eight-year-old device and Apple is still providing software updates to that to make sure that it keeps going take that every android tablet ever released. This is the main reason for you to buy an iPad when it comes to tablets and nothing else, even if others offer more storage include a case. A keyboard and a pen still buy the iPad.

Sorry, I digress, so devices with more ram enjoy more years of software support its similar case with iPhones as well. So last year's iPad Pro was the only post PC device from apple which enjoyed six gigs of ram. It was just one configuration across all storage models, so even the terabyte version got the same six gigs of ram. How does this iPad still hold up? I can safely say that it is amazing. I mean see I'm trying to push this iPad as much as possible, and you can see the amount of ram which is being used seriously.

There are times when I wanted an app in the background to reload, and it doesn't because they ram holds onto it and maintains that session, which was probably from a few days ago. It is really that impressive and that's sufficient and then comes the new 2021 iPad pros and all of a sudden we are getting MacBook levels of ram included the ram. This time is going to start straight from eight gigabytes, and then it goes on to become a whopping 16 gigabytes for the one terabyte and two terabyte storage options. Now we all know what extra ram does on a laptop. So should we keep that into consideration? Go for the max dot, 16 gigs version, as it currently stands with what iPadOS can do.

It will totally be an overkill. I thought apple is doing this because more storage needs more processing and hence the additional ram, but in 2020 they proved that the same six gigs of ram is more than sufficient for even the one terabyte storage option. So that shouldn't be the case right then I thought it was mini, led technology which needs more processing power. But again even the 11-inch model which doesn't have this mini LED display, has got the same 16 gig ram configurations, so I think it boils down to the way the m1 chip works or even the way its manufacturing process has been set up. I think it would have been difficult to start a new fabrication process just to give the iPad Pro its own variation of m1 chip.

Instead, they used what was already available and could be easily adopted. Now. This is just my thoughts guys. There could be more technical reasons and some of the more clever brains of YouTube might give you a better answer, but coming to which m1 iPad Pro you need to buy. Then, if money is not an issue, then I would really try out that 16 gig version and see what extra it does, but for everyone else, guys as it stands, even a slightly tweaked version of a14 chip would have been an overkill as the iPadOS is not evolved enough to make use of all that raw power.

It's like this. Imagine the K?nigsberg hyper cars' engine taking that and putting that into a huge Land Rover. It's going to be similar case iPadOS is not evolved enough to need such kind of power. Now, don't get me wrong. It still is the best tablet OS on our planet, hands down and is light years ahead of anything remotely close to it, but the six gig ram which I have in 2020 version, runs like a champ, not once in my years long of usage, I felt the shortage of power or performance, and, like I mentioned apps, which I wanted to reload did not because of the sheer power it has.

So the base model with 128 gigabytes of storage and eight gigs of ram would be totally perfect. Now I read an article online suggesting that apple might bring some of its pro apps, which are on its desktop OS to the iPad apps like Final Cut Pro and more now. That would be interesting to see how it will pan out, but I'm pretty sure they won't say something like oh final cut. Pro is on iPad, but it'll only run on the 16 gig gram version. That's not going to happen, so the 749 pound base model is the one to go for now coming to size, I'll be getting the bigger one to test it out in my channel guys.

That's just me: buying with my own cash apple doesn't send me review units yet, so please hit that subscribe button. If you haven't done already and support me as there is only so much I can do on my own, and your support will push me to review more products, and I honestly will keep doing that and give you real life usage cases of every device that I will review same as how I've been doing it until now. You can check my channel for proof, so please subscribe and support me guys. So, yes, come 30th. I will order that base 128 gigabyte model with 12.9-inch screen size it'll be interesting to see what that Dr display is going to look like, and I'll compare it with all the other iPads which I have here so guys, a few more interesting videos coming down your way. So please stay tuned now, a few more things to note before buying.

Once again, the 11-inch version is going to get the m1 chip and the same ram and storage configurations like the bigger 12.9 inch version, but it does not have the mini LED display, which apple is calling Dr liquid retina display dimensions wise, it's exactly similar to the iPad Pro 2020, so any cases which fit that 2020 version will also work with the 2021 11 version. Now same is not the case. With the 12.9 inch model. The thickness has gone up along with the weight compared to last year's model, so any cases that will have slots and grooves might not work. So it's better to check the compatibility before buying a case, but magnetic cases like this one which I'm using here might be compatible.

I will definitely try it out when I have the iPad in my hands also, even though it attaches magnetically the old 12.9 inch magic keyboard is not compatible with the new version. You need to get the newer generation keyboard to make this work. People interested in cameras on the iPads, the back camera cluster, remains the same with 12 million pixels wide and 10 megapixel ultra-wide lens, with the same true tone: flash and LIDAR scanner the front one, however, got better by pumping it from seven million pixel shooters to a 12 million pixel wide lenses with 122 degrees field of view. Yes, Zoom calls are going to look amazing they're, also introducing a new feature called center stage, which keeps you in the center of the video call. Even if you move around and if others are going to join, then the view is going to automatically adjust.

Apple did put serious thought into this, considering how the world has been transformed to virtual meetings and get-togethers due to the covet pandemic. So that's all there is to know guys. I can hardly wait to get my hands on one and check out what that m1 processor and the HDR display is going to bring to the iPad. So please subscribe guys and turn on the notifications, so you'll be notified as soon as that. Video goes up.

Hope you like this video guys and found it useful. Let me know it down in the comment section below and as always thanks a lot for staying with me until the end.
