The manufacturer intends to deliver good options to almost all audiences, so the Motorola Edge 20 Lite seeks to meet the consumer on the tightest budget while Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro variants bring balanced specifications and premium design. So, without further ado, check out all the details of each model in this hands-on made in partnership with our Italian brothers from HD Blog. Motorola launched the three members of the Edge series following the same aesthetic line, however, unlike the previous generation, this year's devices do not have a curved screen. One of the meanings for the word Edge is bezels – perhaps, that is why Motorola believes that, even with the changes in the new series, it is still valid to use the same name. If we stop to think, many call the bezels edges and, with the end of curvature, they returned giving the impression of being wider but, at least, with symmetry, so as not to cause strangeness in those who do not like smartphones with considerable chins.

Even so, despite this change that may be considered sudden by many, we still have the premium design combined with the construction with a glass back panel in the Pro model in the others, Motorola used the good old polycarbonate that can imitate glass – something similar to glastic from Samsung. If you like cellphones without exposed or popped parts, the Edge 20 and 20 Pro may end up not pleasing, since we have a camera module that projects in relation to the body of all models. Last but not least, no fingerprint reader on the screen – all devices have the biometric sensor on the side even though the Motorola M logo is still present in the central part of the back and serves as biometrics in previous models. As brothers, the three smartphones share the same 6.67" OLED screen. This display has a Full HD+ resolution and a hole for the 32 MP front camera, however, while on the Edge 20 and 20 Pro variants there is a refresh rate of of 144 Hz, the Lite model shows that it is more affordable by having this pattern cut to 90 Hz.

Motorola also ensures that the user has the freedom to choose whether they prefer to use the refresh rate at its full capacity or in automatic mode – with it , the smartphone itself defines the best moment depending on the displayed content to vary between 144 and 60 Hz, for example. Of course, it is still possible to save battery power by choosing the 60 Hz option as default, and on top of that, activating the dark mode , which is already known for extending the autonomy of cell phones with OLED screens. This may be the ideal recipe for those who are in a tight spot and without an outlet nearby. In terms of audio, much to the disappointment of some, no stereo sound and all audio is played on the only lower output, that is, you need to be a little careful when using the phone horizontally so as not to cover the speaker. But Edge 20 Lite manages to stand out for having as an extra the good old P2 output for wired headphones.

Moving on to the hardware – despite sharing several specifications, the Motorola Edge 20, 20 Pro and 20 Lite bring different processors. That's because the manufacturer seeks to deliver options to the most diverse audiences and fight with several Chinese to occupy LG's market share in several countries. Starting with the standard variant we have Snapdragon 768G, the Pro model uses the more powerful Snapdragon 870, while the Lite brings the affordable MediaTek Dimensity 720. Edge 20 and 20 Lite are sold with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage , while the Pro is sold in a single configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of space, of which only Lite supports memory expansion via Micro SD card. Motorola has also jumped on the bandwagon and delivers its own virtual RAM feature so the user can convert 3GB of internal storage into more RAM. In all cases, there's Android 11 running underneath Motorola's familiar and little-modified interface with the gestures and personalization options familiar to Motorola's users. Another relevant highlight is that the new smartphones also support Ready For mode, which debuted with the G100 motorcycle. With it, the user connects his cell phone to an external screen, whether TV or monitor, so that the Software starts running in the Desktop version, simulating a desktop computer.

This connection is made through a cable but it is noteworthy that it is now also possible to do the wireless connection, at least in Edge 20 and 20 Pro variants, making the feature very similar to what we have in the Samsung DeX of advanced Galaxy models. To take care of autonomy, the Edge 20 Lite has the biggest battery of the three with 5,000 mAh interestingly, the Edge 20 brings 4,000 and the Pro uses 4,500 mAh - all share 30 watts fast charging many could expect charging speed a little higher, as. Realme's 65 watts or even Xiaomi's 120 watts, but Motorola chose to be more conservative. Whether they are good at autonomy or not we will soon know from our standardized test. In the case of the Lite model, despite being more affordable, the main camera remains at 108 MP but this comes with a small sacrifice of other sensors. So the secondary camera for ultrawide and macro has 8 MP and there is tertiary 2 MP for depth effect. The main sensor of the three smartphones delivers 27 MP photos by default, as there is the technology that compresses 4 pixels into 1. Officially announced in the European market, the Motorola Edge 20, 20 Pro and 20 Lite still have no official landing date.

The Motorola Edge 20 was announced for €450 in its variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and goes up to €580 if you want to double the storage. On the other hand, the Pro model is the most powerful and sells for €700 in its unique variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Finally, to appeal to the consumer on a tighter budget we have the Edge Lite, sold for €380 in its version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Anyone who wants to have 8 GB of RAM here will have to pay €480.

In direct conversions to the real, we have values ​​ranging from R$ 2,700 to R$ 4,200, but that is without considering taxes and fees. Overall, we have smartphones with a beautiful design, balanced specs and features that show that Motorola has its eye on the disputed smartphone market. Of course, we can only make a better judgment of the cost-effectiveness of each model when the devices are officially launched here.
