Mobile Photography: Pro Mode vs Auto Mode!

Hey passim sort of welcome to the channel in this video I will be talking about Pro, Mode and auto mode in mobile photography. So many of you people might know what pro mode is and how to use it, but when to use it and when not to use it is also very important in terms of mobile photography. I will be talking about this, and it will be very helpful and very sure about it. So without wasting any time, let's get started before I talk about the main topic I want to. Let you know: I have started a new YouTube channel where I post comedy videos. Those are again very different kind of videos, but if you are into that type of content, please subscribe to the channel now that I'm done with the shameless self-promotion, let's finally get started so for those people who don't know what Pro Mod is, it is basically manual mode in DSLR cameras in mirrorless cameras.

You have manual mode. Similarly, you have in mobile phones as well, but there is a difference. You cannot change the aperture like you can do in DSLR and mirrorless cameras, because most of the smartphones have a fixed, aperture lens. That is why you can only change the shutter speed, the ISO, focusing and white balance talking about auto mode. You can set the focus by tapping, but all the settings will be decided by the mobile phone itself, so the obvious difference between pro mode and auto mode is that you get control over the settings, but that doesn't mean auto mode is bad.

There are situations where using auto mode can be actually a smart thing to do. I'll talk about that later. Let's first talk about. Why should you use Pro mode? The first scenario is where you want to capture a particular action movement. Now, when you want to capture a particular action that happens for a very short amount of time, the setting that is important is shutter speed.

If you don't know what shutter speed is there's a different video dedicated to shutter speed. If you watch that video, you will understand it in more depth. Now the auto mode doesn't know that you want to freeze the particular action, and that is why, even though you want it to freeze it, since the auto mode does not understand it, it can result in a shaky image because it actually used a slower, shutter speed. That is where you have to use the pro mode. Now.

What shutter speed should you use again depends on the actual motion. There is no best shutter speed as such. It all depends on how fast the motion is. The second scenario is completely opposite of this, where you use a slower, shutter speed to capture long exposure. Images again, I have separate videos for long exposure as well.

You can watch that to understand in more detail. Basically, in short, in long exposure photography, you use a slower shutter speed to let in more amount of light and to capture a longer exposure. You can only do long exposure photography when amount of light is very less if you're not using any kind of filters. These are some sample images, I shot with my DSLR and I used a slower, shutter speed. Now, even though I used a DSLR for this kind of images, the concept the basic is the same.

The third type of scenario is kind of similar to long exposure, photography, that is when you're shooting in low-light. So when you're shooting in low-light, you have to use a combination of a slower, shutter, speed and a higher ISO. What auto mode will do is it will boost up the ISO a lot, and you will get a lot of grains in the images to avoid that you can use the pro mode. You can use a slightly slower, shutter speed, thereby allowing you to decrease the ISO, and when you use a lower ISO, you will get fewer grains and a better quality image. But remember one thing: when you're using slower, shutter speed, the images can be shaky, so it's very important to be stable or the best-case scenario is to use a tripod.

Now these are the only three scenarios where I use manual mode rest of the times. I always shoot in auto mode. So there is nothing wrong with the auto mode, just because manual mode is named as professional mode. It doesn't mean you will get better images. Suppose, for example, you have a very simple situation: doesn't matter if you're, using auto mode or pro mode, you will get a very similar type of image so why to spend so much time adjusting and figuring out the settings where you can use that time to compose and frame the image and get better images, so suppose you're shooting in a situation where there's ample amount of light available, you don't have to worry about freezing a particular motion.

You don't have to worry about higher ISO, because there's a lot of light coming in then always go with auto mode. When the help of auto mode, you will still get good images, but you save a lot of time now. This is a very small tip, but if you do a lot of mobile photography, you will realize that this is a very important tip. Understand when to use promote when to use. Auto mode is very important in mobile photography, and it will come with practice eventually, as you practice more, you will get a good grasp of it.
