Material Design of Apple Watch Series 6 and the Shocker from Hermès

Apple dropped a ton yesterday in the press event for Apple Watch Series. Six we've got a brand new SE model, we've got series: six, we've got some due that we knew was coming with blood pulse oximeter with vo2 max we've got an always on altimeter. We've got double the brightness, apparently of our screens when we're in daylight. That's all cool fitness plus, which I didn't see coming at all, but there's a lot to talk about with the material design, we'll talk about some tech stuff, another time, but the material design. There was a lot there that I did not expect. I'm pretty excited about.

Let's talk about it. My name is Chris belief, and these are transmissions from not really rocket science, where we study the technology, techniques, learning and lifestyle of the modern marketing engine. So the aluminum model now has space gray, which is that dark, gray, kind of brushed, look and silver which we're used to we've got gold, not rose gold, but proper gold, and now we've got a new blue and a product red. I think these are fascinating. The blue looks pretty cool.

It's hard to tell from apple's marketing what these actually look like, but there were some videos where we could see that product red on a person's wrist, and I think that thing is fire. It's not for me, but it's really a sharp looking watch, and it's going to be a real statement piece for whoever wears that. I think it looks great. I think it's exciting and oh by the way will we see any new colorways. Furthermore, I think a glossy red would be cool, it's not something I would buy, but I think it'd be cool.

Maybe we'll see some new ceramic colorways. Maybe we won't see ceramic any more it'll be fascinating to see how things shake out. It's not the glossy, and it's not ceramic, and it certainly isn't Hermes, but it's very cool, in fact, in the aluminum that red might be a better look than it would have been with the glossy. So I was surprised to see that- and I think it's exciting to see that, but now moving up into the stainless there's a whole pile of new things to talk about, so stainless doesn't just have silver, which now they're calling it silver stainless. They now have a graphite again hard to see what this is going to look like is it kind of dark gray like the ceramic gray, was last year, but a graphite glossy with the DLC diamond, like carbon paint technology that they apply.

So this stuff is really hard, there's no scratching or chipping that I've ever seen on any of the watches that I've owned with this paint or that others have ever shown. But it's now available in graphite stainless, and we have silver stainless and then a gold stainless. So not the old gold, like the actual gold, was with the original Apple Watch, but a gold color not rose gold, proper, yellow gold on the stainless. So that's going to be a glossy shiny gold. Again, a lot of people are going to love that moving up to the addition, we'll leave our mess for a minute.

No ceramic, so that's fascinating, and I wonder: what's uh, what's the plan with that, I wonder if there's four thought put into that and if so then that's a good move, but you know apple doesn't think, like other companies do with their products or with their marketing but series two. We had ceramic with the white series. Three. We had ceramic with the white series, four, no ceramic, so we all thought. Oh, that's it for ceramic series: five.

They brought it back in the white and in the gray I tell you I was planning on getting the white ceramic. I had all but talked myself into that for series six, but there's no ceramic to be found. So there's I think one of three explanations for that one is they're, just keeping us guessing. Sometimes they'll do ceramics. Sometimes they won't, and they'll just do what they think is the right move.

I think that's smart, because every year, if you're not quite sure, then you're going to lean towards oh last year, I didn't get the ceramic, and they didn't have ceramic this year. They finally have it available. I'm going to grab it. Two supply chains are so screwed up everywhere. Right now, if you've been anywhere, everything is sold out like totally pedestrian.

Things are not available, so maybe there's some supply chain impact going on worldwide right now, where they either couldn't produce the ceramic like they wanted, or they couldn't paint it like they wanted, and so maybe three we'll see ceramic later in the year, maybe there'll be a mid-year boot uh reboot of the ceramic, where we'll see some new colors or something or maybe not, maybe it'll be series, seven we'll see new colorways of ceramic, but no ceramic, which leaves only titanium and so there's a space black titanium, but that isn't truly black. It's a dark, gray and again that titanium has that brushed look to it. It almost looks like the aluminum, it's cool, the technology is cool, and I think that the material is cool. Furthermore, it's very lightweight and very strong. Furthermore, it isn't for me.

Furthermore, it just doesn't excite me and then there's just the normal titanium. They aren't calling that silver, titanium or anything just titanium. So we've got space black which isn't deep black. It's more of a dark, gray, titanium and then titanium. You can still get space black, but it's exclusive to the Hermes.

Let's talk about Hermes, you can still get the space black. It is still only available with the Hermes, so it's exclusive to Hermes, and it only comes with the single tour noir or the Dublin tour noir. I didn't know that. That's how you pronounce Dublin tour. Can somebody help me who knows french when I say French words that aren't right, because I don't want to be that guy, so the Dublin tour and the single tour are still available in noir.

That's the only straps you can get with the black with the space black air meds. So just like we did with series 5, even though availability became scarce basically those same. The same look is available with series six and then stainless silver stainless is available with all the other straps. So you can customize your look at Apple's website. You can kind of add that stainless, and you can put whatever Hermes strap you want to on there again.

You can't get the Hermes face with one of the other apple. Furthermore, you know non-air mess straps if you're going to get the Hermes face, you're getting a ms strap, that's kind of the point, but you can do whatever strap you want really with the silver, but with the black with the space black. Furthermore, you are doing the noir single tour or doubly tour lots of bright new Hermes bands that I think a lot of people are going to love, including orange Hermes orange brand orange in a leather strap. It's not been available before. I think that's obviously exciting and a lot of people are going to love.

You know the many bright colors that they can get with the Hermes watch. I was most excited about something that, of course, wouldn't get a mention inside the press event, but I saw on the website for the first time we have the deployment clasp available in noir. So my grail, my perfect airmen watch, is space black face with space black deployment. Clasp noir band, where everything is black on black. I think that would be really sick.

Of course, we don't have that, so we've got the chrome, it might be palladium. I don't know a lot of other Hermes. Jewelry is palladium, I don't really know if it's stainless or what it is on the Hermes bands, if you do leave a comment, I'd love to know, but we've got stainless trim in the clasp and in the hardware around a black noir leather deployment, clasp single tour, but in getting the noir swift, single tour deployment clasp, so we've got a black. We keep the bin Narnia that dark brown, single tour deployment clasp, but we lose the arena. That's my clasp! That's my band! That's what I have now that I've loved so much for a couple of years, and it has this deep.

Rich patina almost turns into the bin Benny. I've talked about that in other videos, so we lose a favorite with the arena in the deployment class, but we get the noir and I think that's really cool. I think the noir is a perfect look, and I was really excited to see that we've never had that before again same thing: Hermes retires products from their own website all the time, and then they bring them back or whatever. Furthermore, I don't know. If that's a strategy with them, as will we see the forensic? Is it uh another supply chain thing? Are we going to see it mid-year, we're gonna, see it soon in a couple of months, are we never going to see it again? I don't know, but it's interesting, that we've got that noir deployment clasp for the first time, I'm excited about it beyond that apple did a pile of new things.

With their own bands, we have a solo loop, which is just a single piece of silicone. We've got a braided silicone loop or braided loop, braided, solo, loop and uh. We've got, I guess, some new ways of managing or clasping their leather bands, not a fan of their leather bands and some other cool new things that apple's doing, but all in all, not a lot that was unexpected from the tech front. Uh with the Apple Watch Series six, but material design. Everything was a surprise to me.

I didn't know. Any of that was coming and again, for me, stands out. Are the product red and the aluminum nice to give some love to the aluminum. I think it's cool to diversify. That a little a lot of people come into the Apple Watch with the aluminum, and I think it's really cool to give some new colors to that and very excited about what they're doing with colorways with stainless.

We could see all kinds of things down the road with that, so we don't have the ceramic in white. You can get space black in the Hermes, but you can get some other really cool colorways. If you just stick with the stainless graphite, looks really cool, we'll see what that looks like down the road and then with Hermes. For me, the most interesting thing was that deployment clasp buckle and some of the other things that they're doing that are interesting, but I was really excited to see that noir deployment class buckles. So what did you think? Did you pre-order? Something? Do you have something coming? Are you going to stop in on Friday and pick something up? What do you love? What don't you love? What are you disappointed about I'd love to know in the comments I have something coming, and I'll show it to you when it arrives I'll, see you next time.
