What is up guys, so we're going to be comparing the galaxy s21 to the lg v60, one of my favorite phones of last year, we're just comparing the phones, we're not going to be busting out the dual screen case or anything like that and uh. I guess, starting with the price uh 800 bucks for the uh s21, and you can find the v60 brand new for around like 600 bucks um, but uh mine's right here is refurbished, uh off of uh Amazon. It costs like 460. If you want to go that route as well, so I have those links down below and let's just start off with the build quality, because I thought that was a pretty interesting move now that you know I'm playing with some of my other flagship phones or whatever you can definitely tell the difference. I not really sure how I feel about the move from the glass back to this plastic. Matte black um, it's its okay! It definitely does not feel as premium as you know, an actual glass and metal phone um.
But what do you guys think uh? I guess the one advantage is it's not going to crack easy, but I don't know. I just feel like at this price point um. You should definitely just stick with the glass and metal um, but you know a lot of people are not throwing case on their phone, so I don't know what do you guys think um? So, let's just go around the device on each of these, so the s21 honestly looks about as thick as the v60, honestly. Now it's much bigger the v60 is much bigger, but just to go around the button layout, we have our power button volume, rocker power button on the v60 down below. We actually still have a headphone jack on the v60, USB type-c dual speakers on both there's no headphone jack on the s21, and then we have our Google Assistant button and volume rockers on the v60 um.
So it could be a pretty interesting comparison here, because, honestly, you might not need to spend if you're looking for a flagship phone, you might not need to spend 800 bucks. You could go with the cheaper v60 here. Let me turn this brightness up. You could go with the cheaper v60 here and be 100 satisfied. So that's what we're going to find out today, all right.
So let's check out the displays on uh these phones, starting with the v60. So you have a massive six point. Eight inch display uh on the v60. It's a poled HDR 10 display 1080p 395 for the PPI on the s21 uh we have a 6.2 inch display is the dynamic AMOLED display, 120 hertz, HDR 10, also 1080p 421 for the PPI, so both displays look almost identical uh the s21 looks a little more vibrant. But if I change my screen settings on the v60 to be vivid, it'll, look exactly like uh the s21, but they honestly look super like identical in terms of color and in terms of quality.
They look pretty much the same so uh. What's what's pretty interesting is that we have two downgrades so um. If you guys remember the v50 that had 1440p and the s20 had 1440p now they downgraded uh they're, just downgrading to 1080p for some reason, and I'm guessing it's for battery life, and I don't know I guess, uh consumer research probably showed that um people want better battery life on their phones. So I guess because the v60 has amazing battery life, but we'll get to that later uh, but as far as display quality uh, they both look excellent. You definitely have less bezel uh on the s21 for sure it definitely looks like uh.
You know, just it's cleaner display. Furthermore, you do have a punch, hole versus the water drop notch, but it really comes down to personal preference. If you want a bigger display, you would go with the s21 plus, which is identical. It's just a little bigger but yeah as far as display quality. They both look perfect.
Now you don't have a high refresh rate on the v60 and is definitely missed. So you can definitely tell the difference. Now is a high refresh rate, something that you need no, but if you're somebody that is really into specs and stuff like that, it is really nice to see this super smooth, uh silky scrolling. Now the v60 is also it's very smooth, no lag or anything like that, but the 120 hertz, if you've, never tried it. You really have to try for yourself to make up your mind, but if you're somebody that likes a game at 120 hertz, then that could be super beneficial for you as well.
So it really comes down to personal preference here, alright. So let's talk about these specs a little more, so you have android 11 with one UI 3.1 on the s21. This is the snapdragon 888 model with the arena 660 uh. You also have no micro SD support anymore on the s lineup. As far as the s21 in the plus model uh 128 gigs for the base, storage and eight gigs of ram on the v60 android 10 out of the box, it should get android 11 uh this year.
You also have the snapdragon 865 in the arena 650. You do have micro, SD support on the v60, along with 128 gigs of internal storage and 8 gigs of ram. So having that micro SD support is definitely a nice thing to have um on the v60, but let's go ahead and run some geek bench scores and see what kind of scores we get, and then we'll do a real world. You know comparison all right, so, as you can see, the s21 beat the v60 with the single core, but the v60 beat the s21 with the multi-core, which is pretty interesting. So let's go ahead and open some applications and stuff like that, all right, let's go ahead and open subway surfer.
Three two one oh looks like the v60 actually got it there. Let's go ahead and just tap it uh. Let's go ahead and try YouTube three: two one v60 again: let's go ahead and try s20, that's 21, uh play store, look pretty even right there. Let's try Instagram s21 for sure their v60 kind of hit hiccup kind of yeah, just kind of had a hiccup right there. Let's go ahead and try temple run s21 b60 right behind it.
So as we can see kind of bouncing back and forth here in terms of speed and stuff like that openespn. com and the v60 got it there, s21 kind of lagged along there, and that was kind that was kind of a significant amount of time uh there. So as we can see kind of strange uh, the snapdragon 888 chip um, it's fast- sometimes it's not as fast. I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with Samsung's software, because it did.
We did see a higher multi-core score with the v60, but I tell people uh Samsung software are not Samsung, but lg software is pretty much stock android. So it's a lighter skin than one UI for sure um. So, let's go ahead and check out the speaker quality on both now the v60 has had the best and loudest speaker. I've had on this channel uh. So, let's see if that still stands true here, starting so all right, guys, it's so close uh.
The s21 is surprisingly really loud, just almost just as loud as the v60. They almost sound about the same hold on yeah they. I know that sounded weird, but they're almost like at the same volume. You have a little more depth with the bass and a little more punch, but it's very close like neck and neck guys. I'm really surprised with the s21 here all right.
Your gaming experience is gonna, be pretty much uh the same here um on both devices here. Actually, let's go ahead and just get into a game: real quick, see how fast those uh load up, and I'm assuming you should get the same graphics, settings and uh. They both should be able to do. The mags uh see here, graphics, yeah extreme, and we can go to ultra HD on both. I just have to download it in the lobby, so basically gaming performance on both these devices.
It pretty much looks you know identical. It's going to play identical, so um the snapdragon 888 chips is not going to be like a huge upgrade for gaming. I guess the biggest difference would be 120 hertz. I played a game, the sonic game at 120, hertz on the s21. You can't see the difference.
Everything looks super smooth and your eyes can kind of keep up with fast-paced games. So if you're a gamer, you might, you know like the 120 hertz uh. Definitely it is a very cool thing to have right. So let's talk about the camera, specs, and I'll go ahead and show you guys some side-by-side comparisons uh. So you guys can you know, judge for yourself which uh images you like more uh but just to run down the specs on the s21 is a triple camera setup, 12, megapixel standard 64, megapixel telephoto, and you also have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide 8k video 10, megapixel selfie 4k video on that one, the v60 also with a triple camera setup.
It's a 64, megapixel standard, 13, megapixel ultra-wide and then a 0.3 TOF uh depth sensor, and that is uh AK video, as well as a 10 megapixel selfie with 4k video. So I'll show you guys these stills and show you guys what I noticed uh with each camera, so I'll go ahead and roll that all right. So the main thing I'm seeing here is definitely a super colorful profile on the galaxy s21. It is very colorful, it's just really vibrant. Now they almost look pretty much identical.
Besides the slight color difference, I do believe the v60 does give you a more color accurate, photo uh here like this bird's like not that orange and um right here, I'm gonna detail, it does look like you get a little more detail a cleaner shot on the s21 as well, but these shots look really close. I mean they look too close to really be like you would be nitpicking if you were like. Oh, it's its! It's really like the cameras on both these phones are really amazing, so you would be uh nitpicking here, um. As far as image quality goes, they both take perfect um photos. I do think video is better on the s21 as well.
I just think I got like a cleaner video to me, but yeah so definitely excellent cameras on both of these phones. Here, all right. Let's talk about your additional features here so um. You also have ip68 dust and water resistant on both of these phones. Now uh check this out, so the v60 does not have faced unlock for whatever reason they took it away, and you only left with the fingerprint scanner.
The s21 fingerprint scanner is faster than the v60s. It is it's like a slight hair faster. I will put it at like almost pretty much one plus status. Now, as you can see, the v60 has zero issue with me using the fingerprint system. It works fine, but you can definitely feel like the slight just if it's like slightly faster, and you also get face unlock on the s21 as well.
So I hate that they took that away um, but there's no headphone jack on the s21, which uh sucks. You have the headphone jack on the v60 with the quad deck, which means, if you have a high quality pair of headphones plug that in you get some really excellent, audio um out of this phone uh. So you also have a really cool reverse wireless charging on the um s21 as well, which is a really nice uh feature to have, and you also have the Bixby and not the Bixby, but the desktop mode on here as well. You can turn this into like a little desktop, which is pretty cool um, but let's go ahead and talk about battery life, so uh there is no zero competition here, so the v60 straight up kills the uh s21 in terms of battery life. You have a bigger battery at 5000 Williams.
It is wireless charging as well, and you have a 4 000 William battery on the s21 wireless charging.25 watt fast charging, but the battery life is like night and day, so I don't have 5g in my area, so I can't tell you what they're both like on 5g but battery life is, like nine day, just way better battery life. So if you're kind of choosing between uh these two phones, uh, then battery life is going to be definitely better on the v60 so that pretty much wraps this one up. What do you guys think be sure? Let me know, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
