Lenovo Legion 2 vs Asus Rog Phone 5 Speed Test & Benchmark

Hi, it's john from android Alex, and this is a speed test comparison between the Lenovo legion pro 2 and the ASUS rock phone 5. , so we're just starting out with the boot test here and while they're starting up these are both running the snapdragon 888 processors. They both have eight gigs of ram and 128 gigs of storage, so similar to my previous test that I did last year with the legion versus the rock we're going to go through some app speed tests, followed by some memory management, and then we're going to move on to the gaming test and do some memory management between the games and just see how they compare followed by some benchmarks at the end. So we can see that the legion pro 2 and managed to get into android a lot quicker than the rock phone five okay. So these are set up exactly the same as much as I can make it at least so. We've got Bluetooth location turned on they're, both on a dark theme.

Don't afford to rotate here. We've also got the brightness set to max here, and auto brightness turned off. I've also got x mode turned off currently now that may automatically turn itself on in the test, but we will sort that out as we come to it. We've also got them both set to 144hz refresh rate. Now the screen resolution between the two is slightly different, so we have a six point.

Nine two-inch screen here on the legion versus a six point: seven eight-inch screen on the rock phone five slightly different resolution as well, so we've got 1080 by 2460 on the legion and 1080 by 2448 on the rog5. So what I've done is I've connected up two USB mice here, and this is how I'm going to be selecting the apps and loading them, so I'll, be able to press on the app at exactly the same time, and that way it's a completely fair test. So basically, this is the setup here. I've just got two mics stuck together with a bit of electrical tape and a ruler set between them, so that when I click on the ruler, we will get a click at exactly the same time. I can show you this working here.

So if I move the mouse and press here, you can see the mouse is clicking at exactly the same time. So I've also got the thermal monitor in the top right of the screens here, so we'll be able to monitor how hot these phones are getting during the test. Both phones will charge 100, so we'll also be able to see how much battery drain there's been throughout the whole test. Okay, so, let's start off with the app speed test. So, okay, so we're now going to go back through the memory management and just see how they both compare so uh me.

Okay, so slightly better memory management there for the apps on the ROG phone five. So we're now going to move on to the gaming test, and we'll start with the speed test and then do the memory management afterwards right. These are both set to smooth and extreme. So we're going to go into training match here and just see how they get on now. These both do have UFS 3.1 storage, so they should be exactly the same speed. It did load up a bit quicker there on the legion thing.

So I'm going to lead Call of Duty going very slightly quicker there on the legion to load up okay, so we're going to go into a multiplayer match here versus AI, so I'll select the same map here, Newton Russia. I can't click on the mouse with this one, so I'm just going to do with my fingers very, very slightly quicker there on the legion okay, let's just check if PUBG is still there, it's there on both still, and then we'll go back to cod mobile. It's still there. Okay next up is gangster impact. I've just noticed that the temperature which it has gone from the fog phone here, so we'll start that back up afterwards now the legion is consistently beating the rug phone load times at the moment, I'm just going to double-check.

Rampage mode is not turned on. It hasn't turned itself on automatically x mode is still off here, so it is uh. It is how you see it: okay, we'll just test the memory management again see if PUBG is still there. Okay, it's disappeared from the legion phone; it is still there on the rock phone five. So as this is now loading up into the main menu, I'm going to exit the match on here we're back in the main menu there.

So we now test cod mobile as well, and it is still in memory, but it has timed out the game. So that's fine wait for those to go back to the main menu, okay, and then we'll just see if Gandhi is still there. Okay, interestingly, it's disappeared from the legion again, but it is still running on the Rockville 5. So again, I'm going to come out of here, and we're now back in the same state. Okay, next up is Fortnite, so I'm going to try loading that up.

Okay, no idea why? But there were some strange issues when I was logging in they would log in as each other, even though they're completely different accounts not sure how that's working, but anyway, I'm going to go into the tutorial now, and we'll just see how long they take to load up very, very slightly quicker there on the legion phone. Okay. So next up is going gonna, be the speed test, so they're both connected to the five gigahertz network, and we'll just see how they both compare here. Okay, so my internet is around 50 to 60 down and about 20 up, so anything around that area should be good. I've selected the same server on both phones here, so hopefully it's going to be as accurate as possible.

Okay, so very similar results here on the speed test, we can see that the legion was consistently slightly better than the Rockville five. The initial test on the five was about five megs slower, but after that they were very, very similar same with the upload very, very similar indeed, so, there's really not much to say between the two overall, however, for consistency, the legion phone wins the speed test. Okay, so let's go into an tutu benchmark now, and we're going to make sure that we've got effects mode turned on here, which it is then we're going to make sure that rampage is turned on the legion here. So that's a fair test, we're just going to max these out as much as we can, and we'll just see how they get on. You see we're starting at 89 battery on both of these.

I did have an issue where I ran the test previously and the rock 5 was slightly low on storage space, so it said it could have affected the result, so I'll just rerun it again now, after letting the cool back down okay, so the final results are in, and we got eight hundred four thousand three and ninety-five on the legion phone two, and we got seven hundred ninety-six thousand and eighteen points on the rock fin five. So let's have a look at all the results in more detail here. So let's just check the temperature here. So even though the legion phone 2 got hotter at 43 degrees compared to 41.4, it still managed to beat the Rodin 5 and that's including the fact it has a built-in fan so interesting results there. Ok, I'm just going to run the storage test quickly, and we'll just see how it gets on okay.

So the sequential read, speed on the legion phone 2 here is much, much quicker than the rock phone 5. So we've got nearly 2 gigabytes per second here compared to about 1800 megabytes per second here. So it's its quite a big difference there. Now. The right speed, however, is a lot quicker on the rock fin five 780 versus 720.

, but when we go to the random access here, the read and write got 263 versus 274, and we've got 248 versus 154. So overall, the leading phone 2 is much better than the Rockford five. When comparing the storage, okay, we're going to run the stress test now, so I've set it to 15 minutes, and we've got our stage temperature set to 50 degrees on both we have still got rampage and x-ray turned on, as you can see the top there. So we're going to start this off, and I'll just skip to the end. So we can see what the results are after a 15-minute stress test.

Okay, so the stress test is finished, so let's just take a quick look at the results, so we can see here that the legion 2 is a lot more consistent with its CPU performance. So it's a lot higher overall on average compared to the Robin 5. So this is more visible at the start of the test we can see. If we look at this area around here, we can see that the legion 2 has a CPU performance of around 95, whereas the Rockville 5 it goes up to about 90, but then it does drop back down to around 80 percent, and it stays hovering around 80 with a few spikes. Every now and again, which is nice, it's you know performing well, but in comparison to the legion 2, it's not performing as well, so the legion 2 is more consistently running better and or performing faster than the Robin five cores all look exactly the same as we would expect battery temperature, wise though we can see quite interestingly, the legion two got up to 50 degrees Celsius, whereas the rog45 wasn't far behind, but it didn't quite reach 50 degrees.

So that is very hot indeed, so that is worth bearing in mind. The room temperature in here is currently around 27 degrees Celsius. So it is quite warm in here. So again it depends on your ambient temperature, but yeah. That's uh.

Some very interesting results there from the m22 test, so we're now just going to move on to the geek bench test, and again we're going to turn on rampage mode x mode is still turned on here, and we're just going to run the CPU and then to compute tests and just see how they both do. Okay, so here are the results. The legion here against 11 30 for the single core compared to 11 22 on the wrong five and the multi-core score is three four: seven: nine on the legion, where it's three five, six, four on the rock five, so slightly better multi-core score for the rock five and a very, very slightly better single core score for the legion okay. We're now going to move on to to compute scores and see how they get on okay, so to compute scores are in, and the legion here got four seven. Eight seven compared to four seven three five, so there's a point here for the legion, with its slightly higher compute score.

Okay, so there we have it. That is the end of the test and I think you'll agree. The legion phone here has done really well compared to the rogue. Now last year, the legion lost, with only nine points compared to the rock phone fives 20 points. So it's nice to see that Lenovo have actually put some effort into improving their software and overall, although the phone does seem to run hotter than the rock phone 5, it does seem to still perform better.

Overall, let me know your thoughts down below as to which of these two phones. You thought won in your eyes, I mean. Obviously this is going to be down to gaming, mostly as these are gaming phones, so I would go for the legion phone personally, the sheer speed and the built-in calling. I would say that the legion 2 is a better bet than the rock phone five. Now I have put some affiliate links down below in the description.

If you want to pick one of these up, you can import them, like I say from China from AliExpress, and they're, pretty good- that don't take too long to arrive the rogue phone five took about two weeks. The legion phone did come a bit slower, but it did arrive in the end, which is all that matters. If you enjoyed this video, please click on the like button and be sure to subscribe to my channel for more videos in the future I'll be doing a camera test between these two. So we'll do a bit of a camera comparison. I'm also gonna, do another speaker test to see how the speakers are this year.

Last year, the rock phone three speakers were absolutely fantastic and just slightly beat the legion phones, but this year I'm not sure what changes have been made under the grills, so we'll find out so be sure to subscribe and hit the bell notification to be notified. When that video is out. If you want to become a member of the channel, you can click on the join button and that really helps out anything gained from memberships. Just goes straight back into the channel to allow me to buy new phones and therefore do speed tests and other tests that you request. So again, thanks for watching- and I will see you in the next video you.
