iPhone SE vs iPhone 6 - 2020 Comparison By 91Tech

The iPhone, 6 and 6-plus came out in 2014 and started the trend of bigger iPhones being significantly larger than the year Pryor's iPhone 5s a year and a half later, the iPhone SE came out having the specs of the better success, but in the body of the smaller 5s, bigger might not always be better, as the iPhone 6 is not as powerful and has a worse camera than the iPhone SE, hey how's it going I'm Josh from ninety-one tech, and today we're taking a look at the iPhone 6, 6 plus, and the iPhone SE II, which was upside down, but no longer is they hold up, and how do they compare right off the bat here if you're considering buying any of these phones? The iPhone SE is the obvious choice. It's under 100 bucks on eBay, comm and similarly priced to the iPhone 6, but it's significantly better and can run on iOS 13, while the iPhone 6 is bigger, I, don't think that makes it worth it over the much better iPhone SE. If you really can't deal with the small size, I'd recommend you go up to the iPhone 6s and the very least, that being said: you're probably not looking to buy either of these phones, because why would you be this point they're, both fairly old and so today, we're just kind of comparing them for the fun of it? And so, let's back up here and talk about the similarities and differences released in late 2014, the iPhone, 6 and 6-plus were apples for an into the phablet market, and consumers were thrilled to finally have a bigger phone. The thing is, the six actually wasn't a lot better than the 5s. The screen sizes were really the biggest improvement in early 2016. The iPhone SE came out and was almost identical to the iPhone 6s and specs, making it a lot better than the iPhone 6 I'll, be it's smaller with only a 4-inch display.

This is in contrast to the 4.7 inch display on the smaller iPhone 6 at 5.5 inch display on the 6 plus it's a big difference, as you can see by the three phones here and if you're, not a fan of small phones, the SE is not for you, but the phones do all have in common is home buttons. They feature. First generation touch ID same as what was in the 5s, and it feels pretty slow nowadays, but hey better than putting in your passcode every single time. The general designs are definitely different between the two phones. The iPhone 6 is more curved and very thin, while the SE is more lights and squarish is squarish, a word I don't know, but that's pretty much a good way to describe it.

Maybe boxy. The phone is actually also the lightest one Apple's ever made, so that's kind of cool. When it comes to durability. The SE is actually much better off than the iPhone 6, and this is because the iPhone 6, and particularly the 6 plus, have the tendency to bend under pressure. If you didn't have a case on, it was very common for these phones to end up bending at some point in their lifetime.

This was annoying, and it would often lead to issues with the touchscreen, so definitely not good and the iPhone SE definitely won't Bend. So that's kind of a big plus it has over the iPhone 6. So if you use an iPhone, 6 or 6, plus you're definite I kind of wanted to use a case, the SC, on the other hand, is actually probably one of the last iPhones. You don't need a case for along with maybe the iPhone 7. This is assuming, and here being you know reasonably careful with it, but it's its sturdy, and it's aluminum, and while you could crack the screen, if you drop it from a know, decent height overall, this phone is pretty darn durable, especially in comparison to my all glass iPhone.11. Pro I definitely wouldn't want to drop this.

But if I drop to the SE I feel like there's a pretty good chance, it would survive the iPhone. Se is a small phone and I feel, like that's gonna, be the biggest complaint for those still using it right now, and it's pretty understandable, but on the other hand, there are a lot of people who, like the small size, you know it fits in one hand. You can use your thumb to do everything. That is something that really isn't much of an option on a lot of bigger phones, but whichever category you fall into, if you're, somehow it's stuck into the super specific situation of choosing between the iPhone 6 and the SC, the SC, despite the smaller size, even if you don't like it is the one to get its much faster, and it's going to be a lot better and there's a couple of reasons where the SC really pulls ahead of the iPhone 6 and 6-plus, its technical specs, which ties into software compatibility and then the camera. These are the same spots where the iPhone 6s improved upon the iPhone 6, and that makes sense because the SC is just a small iPhone 6s.

Essentially so, first, let's go over the camera. All these phones have one rear sensor on the back: the iPhone, 6 and 6 plus features 8 megapixels and the ability to record in 1080p at up to 60 frames per second. The only notable difference between the 6 & 6 plus and the cameras is that the 6 plus does have optical image stabilization, which is nice, but not really much of a difference maker. The SE has an unstable eye: 12 megapixel camera that can record video in up to 4k at 30 frames per second. This is a massive improvement over the iPhone 6 and here are some photo comparisons for you to see for yourself now to be fair here with YouTube compression as well as me, shrinking down these photos to fit on the screen, it might be tough to see how much better the SC does, but I can assure you.

It is a significant improvement. It handles HDR a lot better and just colors in general. Look more appealing on the iPhone SE moving to video! You can see the difference here. It's tough to get these shots because I'm holding both phones at the same time, but the SE does get crispier video, even if it is just as shaky as the smaller iPhone 6, which is what used to film this. It is safe to say that 4k vs.1080p is a big difference and the SE is just a lot better in the camera department. The selfie cameras, on the other hand, are just as bad on both phones, so that's fun.1.2 megapixels is a pitiful number and yea. These photos are just as bad as you would expect so yeah.

Let's just move on over all the cameras, honestly they're, not that good on either of them, but I would say at least that the iPhone SE is good enough for modern use and can kind of hold his own. The iPhone 6 just isn't ideal anymore. If you want good photos of you know, whenever you're taking pictures of the iPhone 6, it can take the photo. It just isn't taking a very good one in comparison to what newer phones can be taking if you're still using an iPhone 6, and the camera is important to you. I really urge you to go up to at least an iPhone 8, or maybe an iPhone 10 are, and if you have the money, the iPhone 11 is really the phone to go to, because it has one of the best cameras on the market right now, you'll notice, a huge difference in quality it'll just be a lot better.

Battery life is a spot where I could definitely see the iPhone 6 pulling ahead or more specifically, the iPhone 6 plus it has a big battery and so should do a lot better than the smaller iPhone 6 or iPhone SE. The iPhone 6 and SE honestly should have pretty similar performance. That being said, the 6 plus and the iPhone 6 are from 2014, and so that means that they're, you know over 5 years old at this point and so the batteries you know, the whole phone has probably been pretty well-used over the years, and so it's kind of tough to expect a lot when it comes to battery life and where I use your phone, the more it'll be degraded so unless you've replaced the battery at any point, it probably won't be great. That goes for the iPhone SE as well. It never had the most amazing battery life to begin with.

So when it comes to batteries on any of these phones, you're probably going to want to keep a charger nearby moving to technical, specs, the iPhone, 6 and 6, plus, or actually the other way around. Both Hath Apple A8 chip set and 1 gigabyte of RAM. That single gig really holds the iPhone 6 back and that's why it's still an iOS 12, whereas the iPhone SE is on Iowa's 13. The SE has the a9 chip set and 2 gigabytes of RAM performance is much smoother on the SE and, as a result they received to the iOS 13 update. This means that while you can still download and use pretty much any app on the iPhone 6, you are going to be missing.

Certain nice features like dark mode and within a couple of years app support is going to be kind of as opposed to the SE, which should be much better off. I'd actually say the iPhone SE has a pretty decent chance at getting iOS 14. There's no guarantee of this, of course, but the iPhone 6, seemingly had its life ended a little early because it was ended at the same time as the iPhone 5s. So I could very well see this phone and the iPhone 6s getting an extra year support the iPhone, 6 and 6-plus really didn't age very well and I. Think the biggest reason for it is because these actually weren't very big upgrades over the iPhone 5s yeah.

They had the bigger screen, but that was about it honestly is specs the camera. They were all very, very similar, and yet, despite this funnily enough, the iPhone, 6 and 6-plus were actually the best-selling smartphones ever by like a really wide margin. Practically speaking, five years later, they perform okay, they can feel slow, especially if you have a bad battery. The iPhone, 6 and 6-plus can perform basic tasks like you know: YouTube Instagram, Twitter, whatever it can do it. If you're stuck on the phone I would say it definitely could work for you, for you know a while longer before you're really going to need to upgrade, it might feel kind of outdated and that's because it is, but it still can do most things newer phones can do, even if it is only on iOS 12.

The iPhone SE is a big step up, though thanks to iOS 13 support, as well as just generally being better and faster. The camera is a big improvement and, while the phone, admittedly still feels kind of old, it's not so much because of the software experience as it is because of the hardware. This is a small phone and there's not a lot of small phones out there anymore. If you don't like the small phone, you know it is going to feel a little old. This is kind of the opposite of the iPhone 6, which, on our hardware level, looks pretty similar to the iPhone 8, which is still being sold by Apple, but the software experience is already a bit outdated and that's only going to continue to get worse as time goes on performance on the iPhone 6, of course, isn't great.

But it's not that amazing on the iPhone SE either it's definitely better on the SE, iOS 13s, okay. For me at least I've heard some people say that it sucks. But for me, it's you know fast enough, but the SE does have potential to last like another couple years for software updates and that's something that just isn't an option on the iPhone 6 at the end of the day. Neither of these phones are ideal, for you know modern use, but both can be found for very, very cheap on eBay under a hundred bucks. You know if you need a budget phone or backup phone or maybe a phone for your kid or something it's not a terrible option.

I would very strongly point you to the iPhone SE, as it is the much better phone but the iPhone 6. You know it works for what it does and at the moment it's not outdated per se. It is on iOS 12, but it does the job for pretty much. Anything I can think of you wanting to do just be aware of not great battery life on probably all of these phones.
