iPhone 8 Plus vs. iPhone 7 Plus - WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU BUY?

Hello everybody welcome back to the channel. Thank you today for joining me on another video and in today's video I'll, be talking about the iPhone 8 plus and the 7 plus, and what exactly the difference is between these two phones are and which one you should pick up at the end of the day, if you're in the market for an 8, plus or 7 plus now, the thing with the 8 plus is that it's not the best iPhone this year, whereas the sound plus is the best iPhone. When it came out, the 8 plus has the iPhone 10, which has all the newest features all the best stuff in it. The A+ is just a refresh of this 7 plus they're, both very identical, and they share a lot of things in common, especially when it comes to design and overall feel and usage. So when it comes down to it, which one is the better Buy which one should you spend your money on, so let's run a few tests find out what exactly is different about the A+ from the sound plus and what is similar about both of them. So, let's get right into it, so, let's open both the boxes at the same time and as you can see very, very similar again only difference I can see here is that the design by Apple in California is a little more bold on the iPhone 8 plus as compared to the 7 plus box, everything else very similar, all right.

So, let's pull out these taps so same way very similar both have the phones after the documentation packet. So let's grab the phones out of the box, which is never easy. So here's the iPhone 7 plus it's gonna, put this aside real quick and here's. The iPhone 8 plus again everything's gonna fall out yep, so the eight plus putting this to the side as well. For a second and look at the box, the box, extremely identical I, have Indian units of both of these, so I have the Indian style power adapter.

This is the 5 watt power adapter on both of the phones, which is, let's just say, ineffective. I used the iPad charger. That's why these chargers are still in the box, even despite having the iPhone 7 plus for over a year now. So the air pods with the lightning adapter and I, still have the light and headphone jack adapter on both of my phones, because I just bought extras and never took these out of my box same way with the lightning cable below the eye for the ear pods. So box is identical.

You couldn't tell them apart. If you were, if you didn't know the outside part or the color, so let's get into the phones, which is the main part of this video moving into the physical appearance of both phones. So here's these eight plus the eight plus has this beautiful glass back design and the seven plus has this aluminum design. Now both have their advantages and disadvantages, the advantage of the glass back being having wireless charging capabilities and the advantage of the aluminum. Back being that you don't have the issue of breaking the glass, so you can't break the aluminum back, whereas the glass back is breakable and what else in from what I've seen it is easily breakable? And it's very expensive to fix, so I think that overall, the back glass is a little of a downfall for this design.

I like it, it looks very cool and allowing wireless charging is very good, but overall, I think that it's an issue that I don't want to deal with the aluminum is really cool, and this is the jet black version. So I can't say that this applies to the jet black. But when you look at the other versions, the space, great I'm, sorry, the black, the rose gold, silver and the gold- you don't have fingerprints, a fingerprint problem. Both of these phones are fingerprint Maggie's. Just a couple of minutes of use will make them look absolutely horrendous.

The backs of these phones are impossible to keep clean, and I just cleaned it 10 seconds before I started filming this and, as you can see, I already have fingerprints right here on the seventh I'm. Sorry, the A+ now up front. Both of these phones are identical, there's nothing to differentiate them. Both have the same exact upfront and design. The one physical difference here is one of the glass back and with the glass back now, instead of having the aluminum to cover the camera, as we did with the 8 and 7 plus.

What we have now is we have this aluminum ring around the 8 plus the 7 plus has an inbuilt already because of the aluminum unibody, but this has a special ring, and I'm not sure how this works, if it's a piece of the glass or if this is something that glass sits above or something like that, I'm, not sure how that works, and I'll be curious to see how this can be repaired. The final physical factor I, consider to be worthwhile mentioning here, is the weight so initially when I unboxed, the A+ I, didn't notice the weight difference, but after using it side by side with the the 7 plus for a while and getting to switch back and forth between them. What I realized was that the A+ definitely has more heft to it, and it does feel a lot heavier than the 7 plus initially I didn't feel it, because I wasn't using this phone for a while. So if you haven't used the 7 plus, you won't know the difference, and it'll be pretty similar. However, if you're coming from a 7 plus, the 8 plus does feel a little heavier.

So what are they like to use on a day-to-day basis? Now? This is where I think that the 8 plus really is the is problematic, because there is absolutely no difference when you're using the 8 plus over the 7 plus the software is the same. Everything is extremely identical, so let me just give you a quick overview of the iOS and how they work on both fun. So for both phones, you can use the homebody to turn the screen on, or you can lift them, and they will turn on now. You can also use touch ID on both devices, and they will unlock, and you can see that besides the wallpaper, everything is identical. They have the same layout same app sizing.

Everything is the same. Now, the only software differences that I could find anywhere throughout. Both phones were in the settings because there's a few things that the plus size that the sound class doesn't have, which is that 40 I'm sorry, the 4k, 60fps, recording and 24 FPS recording and the true tone display otherwise I think that there's absolutely no benefit to getting the A+ over the sound class if you're, just looking for a good phone, because the price difference now that I'm seeing is not worth it's not justifiable, because the phone, the sound plus on its own is such a good phone from this part of the test. What I'm, going to be doing is checking the audio level on both the iPhone 8 plus and the 7 plus. How I'm going to be doing is using this decibel ammeter.

So, as you can see as I'm speaking, it's recording how loud I am now what I'm going to be doing is putting both phones on max volume set the decibel meter to find out the max output that both of them give have them right here. At the center point below each phone right near the Lightning port to see which one is the loudest and I have my mic right here, so that you guys can try to listen to the audio output level and tell me which one you think is better. So, let's go to YouTube. I have both hang on before I. Do that? Let me just show you guys that both the phones are on maximum volume.

Here's the A+, here's, the 7 plus so, let's hop into YouTube I, have the same song loaded up at exactly the same time, I'm going to reset this, set it to max and play the song. So now I'm going to be very quiet so that I don't mess up the results on the decibel meter we have so there were guys the iPhone 8 plus had 101 point 5 decibels and the iPhone 7 plus got 100 points.7 decibels very close to each other, but I think that there's a little of difference, especially when you're listening it from listening to it from different angles. So, let's move on to the next test for the next part of this test, what I'm, going to be doing is I'm gonna, be running an tutu benchmark on both the A+ and the 7 plus the purpose behind the an tutu benchmark is 1, find out the graphics performance and to find out how hot the phone gets so while using the phone. One of my main concerns is how hot it gets when under heavy use and when it gets really hot. The phone becomes uncomfortable and generally slows down as well.

So, let's find out the first thing, I just want to show you guys that both app both phones have no apps open they're, both on airplane mode and both connected to Wi-Fi. So let me just open an tutu benchmark on both, and I'm going to start testing, so I'm going to be running a heat testing along the way, and I'll tell you guys which of the funds was the hottest once I get to the end of the test. So, at about 60% completion, I'm just going to run the heat test here, really quick, so I have my heat gun, and I'm going to try to find the hottest spot on both phones, all right. The A+ seems to be at about 91 degrees at its hottest and, let's check out the 7 plus 7 plus I just saw 94 93, so the 7 plus is about 2 degrees hotter, and it is just overall generally a lot hotter, all right. So right at the top corner, I saw 96 97 98, let's go over to a plus 94, so it is picking up heat really quickly and just for reference here the table is the ambient temperature is about 76 degrees.

So these phones are about 15 degrees, hotter than the room. Now, alright, the test just completed. So let me very quickly check out the temperatures on both devices, so I have the 8 plus at a toasty 98 99 degrees, a hundred right here. So it is quite a lot of hot earth and the 8 pluses is its a little cooler, but not a lot. I'm guessing the glass back has something to do with the heat being able to dissipate more.

So let's look at the results here real quickly and the results are pretty big, so 19 198,000, 134, vs. , 164,000 and 954. So the main purpose of this test was actually a little more to find out the heat and not the actual graphic scores which we knew would be higher on the A+. Let me just hold both in the hand and see how they feel here and the 8, the seven plus it feels like the entire phone is not while the 8 plus here it felt like just one portion of the phone was hot, so I'm, guessing the aluminum on the 8 plus sorry, the 7 plus is kind of dissipating the heat throughout the phone laws. The glass is just to focusing it in one area.

So let's move on to the next part, all right, everybody. So now, let's move on to a camera test, so I'm going to be showing you a comparison of the videos, everything to show you guys exactly which phone is better camera wise? It's obviously going to be the A+, but how much better? Is it significant or is it not so bad? Let's see all right everybody. So here's a confession between the iPhone, 8 plus and the seven plus videos, so the A+ on the left is has 60 K, sorry 4k 60fps, while the seven plus is running 4k on 30 fps, so the reason I do this is that the eight plus has the southwest has all the other modes. The Sun Plus does, except for the 4k 60fps. So this is the only true comparison to be made.

I apologize for the ambient noise I'm using the mic on these, so you're going to be hearing a lot more, so I'm moving around you guys tell me what the stabilization is like, and I feel like. The colors are a lot more vibrant on the seven-plus I'm, sorry, the 8 plus of the 7 plus. So it's a quick video sample. Let me know what you guys think and everybody. So here's a comparison between the eight pluses and seven pluses camera on video, so the seven plus is running 44k 30fps and the eight plus is running 4k 24.

Yes, I mistakenly told you guys and the last stuff that the only difference in the samples in a plus was that there was this 8k of the 60fps, but there is also a 24 FPS mode that is not available on the second class. So I'm just going to be doing a little of thick walking to show you guys the stabilization as well as just the color and film I can see I'm going to do a few sweeps me and sweep just to show you guys what the film style and the 30 FPS 4k difference makes so off the bat. What I do notice is that the vibrancy and the color of the A+ is so much better than the 7 plus, but again in post image processing. We never know what is actually the case. So here's the clip- you guys tell me- which one you think is better and let's move on now that we've run all the tests on the excellent 7 & 8 plus I finally come to an understanding about both of these phones and one thing that is very clear to me right off.

The bat is that these phones are a lot more similar than I, actually expected them to be. There's not too much different about them, and the key differentiating factors are very minute actually, so the A+ has two key factors that make it a little better. In fact, 3, if you consider a small software feature so number one, it has a 4k 60fps, capable camera sensor number two. It has a wireless charging and number three. It has a true tone display.

So those are the three things that the iPhone 7 plus misses out on, but otherwise the design, the software field. Everything else is almost identical. Give someone a 7 plus or an A+ in a case and I guarantee you. They wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two. So you guys might be wondering at this point at the end of the day, which one of these is the better Buy and I think that the 7 plus is the better buy, simply for the reason that it has almost 90% of what the A+ has, and it performs very similar to what the A+ performs.

So I think that at the end of the day, if you find the 7 plus for a good deal, this is the one you should get on board with. But, however, there is a case where I would recommend the A+, and that is if you are going to be holding on to the phone for a long time now, if you're going to be holding on to the phone for a long time. The newer software, the newer hardware, especially that an 11 Bionic chip, is going to really help you guys, especially one year pass, and you update some softwares. You know the processor gets a little more strained with every new software and the processor will be able to handle more on the 8 plus than the 7 plus, because it is obviously newer. So that's the only key difference here, so, whichever one you like is honestly the one you should pick, but my preference is, if you get a good price on the 7 plus, it is just as good as the 8 plus.

So that's that subscribe to the channel, if you want to watch more content like that, I have a lot more coming. Follow me on social media, for behind the scenes stuff and just general updates on the devices and stuff that I'm reviewing all that kinds of good stuff. All the links down below in the description like the video, if you liked it dislike, if you didn't like it just let me know why you didn't dislike the video, so I can improve. Thank you guys for watching I'll catch you, the next one.
