So, what is up guys Nick here, helping you to master your technology, iPhone, eight plus two and a half years later now, I did it? Should you buy iPhone, eight plus in 2020 check that video out link down below this one is gonna, be more my experiences, my opinion that one, a lot of opinion there as well, but more like a buyer's guide for this one, we're gonna just talk about. Where does this thing stand in the context of mid 2020s just get price out of the way I was doing some research before this video and at least us prices anyway, you can have one of these for around three to four hundred bucks right now, secondhand now, depending on, if you're getting a new one sealed up? If you find one like that, it might be 450 or 500, but this one came out, it was like 850, so it's like 50% off its original price, but that makes sense as it is two and a half years old at this point. But if prices are different in your area, let us know down below what the prices of this phone are kind of going for in your area. First thing we're gonna, discuss here, mid 2020 is design well, this phone has big bezels. That's a con right away, but positives of this phone is that it does have a big display for not a lot of iPhone money on the back. You can see glass back.
It does give fingerprints, it's not quite as nice as the matte feel of the newer 11pro, but again three times less the money of that and the glass, though, feels premium compared to the aluminum on the seven plus. Now some people prefer the seven pluses aluminum, but still this glass enables QI wireless charging, so you could do wireless charging on this iPhone 8 plus it is a glass bill which means that if you drop it on the back, this boy can be cracked rather easily. So you don't want to be rocking this one without a case now, on the front, I do like the fact that, if the iPhone 8 plus does give you a 1080p display on here now, the display also enables some a feature called true tone, which was something that wasn't on the iPhone 7 plus, and this basically adjusts to the ambient lighting, giving you better display quality, depending on what you're doing, and I like that, this phone had 3d touch, makes the shortcut presses very fast, so mid, 2020, that about the iPhone, 8 plus also night shift and dark mode does make its way to the A+, and you know just because this is running. LCD doesn't mean that the dark mode is not enjoyable. This thing is still enjoyable even on an LCD panel, so the A+ is actually a better experience now than when it came out.
Like literally it's a better software experience today than when I mean how many phones get better over time, not a lot, but this one even though, has an older design. It's actually more enjoyable to use now than ever before. So when it comes to display we're talking about 401 PPI on this display- and that's really nice, because that's like the sweet spot I feel like keeps up with a lot of the competitors in terms of sharpness plenty bright here, and it's even sharper than the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 10 are now at the time the 8 plus had the iPhone 10 coming out. So it had to have something you know pretty good, because the iPhone 10 was delayed, and I think this 1080 really made up for it. So I really do like the 1080.
Also, the iPhone 8 plus has the ability to rotate into landscape on both the home screen and in the applications and with these bezels. While they are a little- and you know not pretty, to look at in 2020. This thing looks like a dinosaur compared to the Android. Competition said that about the 7 plus I'll, say it here as well. At least it gives you something to hold on to when you're playing games browsing the web.
It is pretty enjoyable to hold onto those bezels, though I cannot deny that thickness on this phone 7.5 millimeters thin. So this is actually thinner than like the iPhone 11 Pro max, for example, weight though this thing weighs 202 grams, so heavy boy, definitely a heavy boy, not the heaviest iPhone out there, but oh yeah, you're going to feel this one in your pocket. This is a heavy big phone right here in the A+, but some people like that density, some people make it some people believe that makes it feel more premium. So yeah you're going to feel the weight on this one. One thing I like about the 8 plus as well, is that this phone gives us ip67 dust and water resistance, which means that you can get a little splashing on it here.
It's not ip68, so it's not the best reading, but still at least it has one, and you don't get to worry too much about it, getting a little wet. So when the software on the iPhone 8 plus came out, the boy was running 11 here. Thirteen point five point: one is the latest version, and while this software is not the same as the with a gesture base, you have to bring the control center down from the bottom. At least you could see your battery percentage all right up there o'clock in the middle, that's a little different, because there's no neither but other than that I mean you're, getting all the same applications you're getting basically all the same features. Of course the camera software is a bit different.
You cannot change video settings directly from the app right here, mostly because this phone just doesn't have that feature on it, and they want to keep that separate 40. You know the more premium, a Pro Series, so it doesn't have it but I have to say, though man this one, the software right now it's just better than ever, it's better than when it first came out, but you didn't lose 3d touch like some newer iPhones lost so going into the quick shortcuts is actually quicker than the newer phones, which is pretty strange there and again running the app store and everything you're, just not behind at all, like there's, no more to talk about you're, just up-to-date on the V iPhone, 8, plus and using it just feels like you're, using the modern software on an older take of hardware and discussing performance. Well, we have the Apple AAA, 11, Bionic, chipset and I. Remember speed tests in this phone and when I was speed, testing his phone. It was beaten, so many phones out there on the market.
So this phone was definitely powerhouse. It can do a, or it could do all that stuff. It's extremely fast. However, the processor is a couple generations old now, so if you buy this now do be aware that you're already a couple generations in you know you get a 10 R, for example, you're getting another generation newer processor, but you might not care because when it comes to actually Geek bench Enos and doing CPU benchmarks, they might be a little better on a newer phone in real world everyday performance. The A+ has zero lag, I mean the 7 plus barely has any lag and iPhone 8 plus users.
Let us know how fast your phone is down below confirm what I'm saying right here: because you're going to see people saying yeah. That thing is still fast. That's the three gigs of RAM doesn't make any difference on this phone. It's still quick, oh in the storage, you could get 64 gigs. You can get 256 gigs yeah! You can get plenty of gigs on this phone.
Let's talk about the cameras here we have a dual 12 megapixel camera setup on here: 4k 60, quad, LED, flash fantastic, and it really didn't get worse. The only thing that happened is newer. iPhones came out and got better so not like it's a bad camera right now you could still go to X and you could still really get close in on things. So close, you can even see the little lint ball hairs on that little camera. Let me wipe that off.
Really quick! That's how close you can get the things I mean really nice here, but it doesn't get a very noisy at this digital zoom. It does do 2, X optical, though now, when you go to video again, you have to change it in settings but for k60 quality on this phone, and you'll notice. One thing about the d 8 plus and the iPhone 8 there's really no focus issue at all. The video is ultra reliable. Of course, the port remote did get better on the 8 plus over the 7, plus, as it was introduced on the 7 plus.
But here's the problem with the 8 plus the front-facing camera is not that great on this phone. It's just a 7, megapixel 1080p. Don't get me wrong if you're in good lighting you're going to be very happy with the results on the 8 plus, but it cannot go wide. So if you got a group of people, you can't get wide on the selfie and the video is not going to impress you too much on the front-facing video, it's pretty close in on your face, and it's not that sharp by comparison to like the iPhone 11, which, for example, has 4k 60 on the front. This has 1080 30.
So that's the drawback with the camera. But if you go into settings here, and we go down to camera- and this to me is also a drawback- you have to go to settings to find your camera features. I mean that gets annoying and record slo-mo. You could do 1080 at 240, not bad there for the iPhone, good job, 8 plus, but see high dynamic range. The auto HDR on here as well.
This one didn't have the smart HDR, though the one that came with the iPhone 10 R, which was using algorithms and stuff to make better photos. But still this is still a point-and-shoot beast. You just point and shoot, and most the time you're going to get a good result overall for me, 2.5 years later, if I was buying, the 8 plus I probably wouldn't buy it if I was looking for the best camera, but if I still wanted a big iPhone on the low and I wanted a solid camera. I, don't take pictures all that often, but I still want a good camera. I'd be super happy with the 8 plus an audio fired at the bottom of the A+, and at the top there wasn't a big issue with it.
Furthermore, I'm not going to play a sample in this one go check out my full review of this phone or my should you buy 20/20 video but nah man. This one I hear just an improvement over the introduced stereo speakers for the 7 plus what rid of the headphone jack plenty loud on this phone, no problems there and one of the key areas I want to talk about is battery life, because I was always impressed with the iPhone 8 plus is battery life specifically because this one right here with a 26 91 William I mean that seems like half the size of some Samsung phone batteries. This one could get easily through a day. It was pretty impressive. How well optimized it was, and to this day the 8 plus is an easy all-day phone I never killed this battery and one day yeah.
The 11pro max beats this one every day of the week, but the same time. It's not a bad battery life on this phone you'll be pretty happy here. As long as you have a pretty high capacity health so make sure when you're buying this, if you're your buying one use or something make sure you have a good maximum capacity on there and touch ID. Where does touch ID feel on this phone in 2020? Well, because this phone, so big I, always felt like the 8 plus was like this little mini iPad in your pocket, like the design, looks like the iPad Mini has a touch ID like the iPad Mini. This is like a shrunken down.
iPad Mini, this phone right here, Oh touch ID, feels that way it feels like well, it feels like on the iPad, it's still quick, it's still reliable, and you're. Just not going to have an issue here, mid 2020 with this one and lastly, I just want to discuss the phone call quality, because the phone call quality for the iPhone 8 plus 2.5 years later is OK. It's not the best out there. I, don't think you're going to be disappointed, is going to make phone calls, but don't expect don't expect blazing-fast 5g! That's not here, don't even expect the best LT performance, because that's also not here but don't get me wrong. It's reliable performance, it's just not gonna, be no Samsung, Frey G! Nothing like that and let me just discuss overall at the end my final negatives on this phone.
So you can kindly understand what's the problems with it, because you seem super hyped on this phone. It's 2.5 years old, Nick come on man. Tell me some stuff. Tell me some reasons. Why not to get that boy? Well here they are the bezels.
Look at these things like I, don't know about you, but I feel like I'm in Jurassic Park, when I'm using this phone right now, because this phone right here is just from another era right here with these bezels I. Just can't do it next up front camera in particular, we talked about that, but honestly, there's just so many cameras, even budget phones that can sometimes produce a better result on the front-facing camera than this 7 mega pix Apple really jumped it up with the video and photo quality on the front-facing camera versus the 8 plus. Again no night note on this phone either when it gets dark out, we want to take pictures. Society will be reopening soon, and we're gonna still be outside taking pictures at night when we are able to do that. Everyone's going to be like well.
Anyone buying this one is gonna, be like it can't see it. It's too dark. So that's a negative of this phone other than that I. Don't have really any major issues with it. I mean you could say well, I want face ID.
Well, then, don't buy this phone, but that's not really a con. You know what you're getting into. If you get this, the glass gets smudgy I, don't like that I like the matte feel of other devices, but you know it's pretty fragile with the glass. This one reminds me of the note 9 like it was kind of like just a solid phone. There was really nothing to complain about.
It wasn't overly interesting, but there was just a solid, perfect phone and I say iPhone 8, plus it's held on very well to mid 2020. Now you have a lot of options, though you have the iPhone SE, you can buy a used, 10 R, you can buy use iPhone 11, but here's the thing I think if you want like to upgrade from like a 6, a 6 plus a 6s plus, and you don't want you want to keep that feel you don't want to go to the 10r. You only go to 11. You don't want to wait for the 12. Furthermore, you want a cheaper, bigger, iPhone I think that the A+ is still got a lot of life left in it.
For me, this phone's got at least 2 or 3 years left in it. So let me know your thoughts on the A+. Do you have one? Are you getting one, and you like thank God? You just made this video because I was just looking to buy one of these. Let us know down below in the comments thumbs up. If you enjoyed it, be sure to stay safe, stay well, Nick here and peace.
