iPhone 7 Plus Unboxing - Camera Raw stills & 4k Video tests - in 4k

Hey guys I got a new video for you today and, as you saw, I got my iPhone 7 plus unboxed and I, took it out to Toronto today and I wandered around, took videos and photo and stuff like that and I kind of want to review the phone. Just from that standpoint because yeah it has a new processor, and you know the dual cameras and the new matte-black and the jet-black Darth Vader helmet looking phone. So let's get into some video and the photos and obviously now you can do Raw photos, so we'll get into some of those DN G's that I took with the manual app. You can't really do d NGS with the regular app the regular camera app built into iOS. So you have to use a separate, app I think that Adobe Lightroom Mobile works with DOG using the camera built into that and the app I said before the manual out. So let's get into those and take a look at some low shots.

All right so I just want to show how fast the camera launches and how fast the autofocus is and zoom in here two times, I'm going to switch to 4k video I'll switch to the other lens and zoom in a bit, and obviously I'm shooting most of this stuff on a tripod. So here I am doing handheld with the optical stabilization, and it did do a lot of low-light photography, but here's a shot in super low-light video, so I just want to test out the front-facing camera in sort of low-light. The sun's kind of set the sky still looks bright, but it's not really all that bright, gotta focus tracking is pretty good on it and yeah. Like the angle of you, it's not super wide. It's not! You know.

This is pretty good. It's good for selfies and talking to the camera, lacking, lose it all by yourself and around this time I got kind of hungry, so I ordered a pizza. It is pizza Friday. After all, all right, so one of the new features they talked about that wasn't included with this phone. Yet is this new background blur both effect and what I did was I just took an image with the camera completely out of focus, and then I took a picture with it in focus, and then I'm blending the two pictures together, so you can see that the background is kind of blurred out.

Obviously, it's not perfect, but I have a feeling. This is kind of what they're going to do so one other cool thing we can do now with this phone is shoot raw, so using the manual app I shot raw, and I'm just showing how you can adjust the sliders with the DOG and show you how to fix some of these overexposed areas that you wouldn't normally be able to fix, and now here's an underexposed photo I. Did it on purpose, just to show you how you can recover some shadows and bring the exposure back up now. One thing I did notice, though, is you can't go too far? You start seeing a lot of this color noise down in the corners and the shadows, and I'll zoom in here show you, so it's not the most pretty noise, but there is a lot of detail still and here's the before and after okay. Another one I wanted to show was dynamic range, and I was in complete darkness here under the bridge and I just wanted to show you how much detail actually gets pulled back out when you fix these shadows, I'm, obviously there's too much noise, but if you turn this photo and black and white, it would actually not be that bad, alright, so right off the bat guys, the image quality coming off this little sensor, ? little sensors is crazy.

Being able to jump between the wide-angle and telephoto is pretty cool. The camera launches fast. The focus is fast jumping from point to point. These cameras, pretty cool -. You can use it almost like a macro lens getting in there really close, as you saw from some of those flower shots.

The front cameras perfect at 7, megapixels I forgot to say that the rear camera is 12. Megapixels. Two of them 12 megapixels same as the iPhone 6s, but I think that the sensor is a little bigger in this I'm, not sure something to do with better in low-light anyway, the 4k videos awesome coming off. This phone obviously does 1080p 120 frames per second I. Didn't do any video in that frame rate? It's not that big of a deal.

Let's just go for the 4k and see the best that we can get. The front-facing cameras like I was saying, is 7 megapixels, which is pretty close to what the rear camera on the iPhone 6 is, and I would say that the image quality off the front camera is actually amazing for a selfie camera. I did find, however, that the exposure was off a little. I know that it kept overexposing, and I had to keep locking the exposure from bringing it down a little. Maybe it's just because I have, you know, got a pasty White face, and it doesn't really know what to do except reflect tons of light off of it, but yeah as for camera.

It's its awesome. The screens awesome, nice and bright. You can really crank the brightness up on this thing. The battery is awesome, I had the screen on like 100 percent brightness, the whole time, so I could see outside, and I had no problem seeing outside. That's not an issue, but I left the house at around 80% battery on this thing and I got home, and it was at like 30% battery life, and that's me for like five hours, shooting video and photos, and even using the GPS on this thing is pretty crazy.

I did do a continuous autofocus test in video with the wide-angle lens and then the telephoto lens I, just kind of ran towards the camera. Did an amazing job at tracking me. I actually did not expect it to do that. Well, I, don't think the iPhone 6s could do that, and they've put some kind of weird magic into the autofocus system on this tiny little camera built into this thing. But it's pretty awesome so check out the results you some things.

I don't like to can some things I noticed when I was in the telephoto mode. Camera on a tripod I noticed that the optical image stabilization was kind of like going jittery like it didn't really know what to do, because it was so stable but ready soon as you grab it and hold it handheld. It looks amazing. It's nice and smooth the optical image. Stabilization is actually crazy.

Good on this phone I never had the iPhone, 6 plus or the iPhone 6s, plus, because I think those both head image stabilization. So it's pretty cool to have that on this phone and a handheld, video will never be the same. It'll never be shaky again unless you're using the front camera I, don't really like the home button on this phone. It doesn't really have the same click it's just using that kind of 3d touch haptic feedback and it just kind of vibrates the whole phone. Furthermore, it's not really generalized and central to the button area.

So when you click down on it, it definitely does feel weird. The trackpads on the MacBook Pros actually feel more realistic than this does. But it's still pretty cool I, don't really know the whole reasoning behind it. Maybe they built this kind of home button, you know for water resistance or something like that, and that's definitely not a test I'm going to do for you guys I'm not going to dunk this in water, like other people, are doing or dropping it or scratching it. Those guys are getting free phones or have tons of money or sponsors, or something like that.

This is my bad boy that I'm going to be using and I. Don't really want to destroy it. So no water test for this. You can go watch some other video where they go and destroy the phones and yeah. Probably the last thing I could say: that's really not that big of a deal to me, but probably a big deal to some people is the headphone jack.

Obviously there is no headphone jack on this phone. So if you need a phone that can you know charge and listen music at the same time, iPhone, 6s or older, or go to Android, you can always get a note.7 plug your headphones into the note 7 and set it down somewhere and watch the fire come out of the phone and up the know, headphone jack into your ears. I'm just kidding! Don't do that anyway, guys thanks for watching this video on the iPhone, 7 plus kind of from the camera standpoint. I think I'm going to take this thing out to a real photo shoot with me. Sometimes with my big cameras and test out the portrait both out focus rendering thing they're going to add in an update to this phone.

It looks pretty cool, and you know from the sample. I did the Photoshop. It's probably going to look something like that: I'm, not sure if I'm, just assuming that's what they're going to do with it. But if you liked this video give me a thumbs up if you just like this video thumbs down twice, and I'm, shooting this whole entire video on the Fuji AT too. So if you like, the video quality thumbs up three-ton thumbs up twice, and I'll, be doing a review of that camera later so stay tuned.

For that I'll see you guys in the next one.
