iPhone 12 Vs iPhone XR! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone, let's go ahead and do another comparison. This time around between the newly released iPhone 12 and the somewhat older, iPhone 10r, I'm pretty sure everyone knows what the iPhone 10r is. This was kind of like a budget phone that came on in 2018 from apple, and this is kind of like its successor, but the price tags are way different on this apple's still selling the iPhone 10r. This thing is 499 brand new from apple the iPhone 12. On the other hand, costs 829 dollars, so definitely a lot more money for the iPhone 12. Is it worth it? I guess we're going to go and find out if you want to pick up either one of these I'll find the cheapest ones on Amazon link them down in the description below you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time now side by side, I do have the black iPhone 10r and the white iPhone 12, not that matters, and you can see that definitely side by side.

They are almost kind of like the same phone. One thing I've been able to see with the iPhone 12 series is that they kind of seem less wide. You know the iPhone 10r definitely seems a little wider because of the side bezel or the body bezel the iPhone 12 because of the flat sides. It is really like lost a lot of that black type of bezel that you're seeing from that size here. So the screen sizes are exactly the same, though you have a 6.1 inch panel on the iPhone 10r. It is an IPS panel.

The resolution is a little above HD, not full HD. Keep that in mind, but it's still a pretty decent panel. You have true tone on it. You have haptic feedback and of course, when it first came out a lot of people were, you know, kind of hating on it, including me, but ever since then I've been kind of you know grown into it, and I don't think it's a bad panel at all, and I think for sure, even in 2020 a lot of panels like yeah, of course, they're. Not it's, definitely not the best.

But looking at this iPhone and looking at the iPhone 12, it's really not a bad panel. Now, when you compare this panel to a galaxy s20 or something, then it's a whole different league. But since we're comparing these two phones, it's a little different. The iPhone 12, on the other hand, has that 6.1 inch OLED display, so we're going from an IPS to an OLED panel, which is really cool. On top of that, it kind of shaved off a lot of the size like I stated, and on top of that it also has a high resolution display.

So this one is a little above full HD, which is really cool, so you're, going basically from HD to full HD, which that in of itself is a pretty big deal in my opinion, and the panel itself looks pretty good. I don't know if it's like a hundred thousand times better like it's. Definitely I guess better. If you want it to be like that, but I wouldn't necessarily go from an iPhone 10r to the iPhone 12. Just because of the way the display looks in my opinion, there may be some other areas for that, but in terms of the display, the iPhone 12 wins, but I think the iPhone 10r still holds up in the display department for sure now.

In terms of the thinness, you can kind of see that the iPhone 10r it kind of first, it kind of appears to be thinner, but it may not be the case. Apple said the iPhone 12 is technically thinner than I guess the thickest point of the iPhone 11, and I guess it's kind of the same thing here. The iPhone 10 kind of feels thinner, because the sides are curved so kind of keep that in mind and on the back, you can see a dual camera setup on the iPhone 12 and a single camera setup on the iPhone 10r glass backs on both pretty much the same type of setups. They feel almost exactly the same in the hand you do have that MagSafe type of capability on the iPhone 12. We do not have that on the iPhone 10r, but you can still charge it MagSafe wirelessly, but it just won't connect the magnetically.

If you know what I mean, so you're going to be getting better water resistance on the iPhone 12 as well. They both are IP certified, but you can go six meters waters here, waters here, which is really cool so in terms of the outside that really pretty much covers it up. There's not a lot to hit on here and there's not a lot to hate on either. Both these phones are very good still. Obviously, the iPhone 12 is the better phone when it comes down to the outside, though, in terms of software, the iPhone 10r and the iPhone 12 are both running iOS.

So it's not really a crazy, huge comparison that needs to be done here. Really we just look at the chipsets inside. In the year they came out, the iPhone 10r came out in 2018, and we can theoretically say because this one has the a12 chip. This one has the a14. We can probably say that the iPhone 12 is going to outlast the iPhone 10r.

So in terms of software updates, this thing could theoretically get like two years of more extra versions of software than the iPhone 10r. So that's a big deal. If it's a big deal to you, but either one of these phones, you pick up now it's going to be perfectly fine. It's not like you're going to pick up the 10r, and it's going to be out. You know, expire tomorrow, same thing with the iPhone 12.

These phones are going to be lasting for many more years and I would honestly say, you're, probably going to update your phone or sell this phone or break it before you even have to worry about when it's going to end in software. So in terms of that that pretty much covers it up now, let's go ahead and do a speed comparison between both these devices. The iPhone 10r has that Apple A12 chip, like I stated before, with three gigabytes of ram inside it with the iPhone 12, has that Apple A14 chip inside it, the a14 bionic. If you want to get super, super technical with four gigabytes of ram inside it, so let's go and see which one is the faster phone between both of these okay. Now that we're back, let me go ahead and clear out all the apps in the background, and I've said this before, and I'll say it again.

I really need to start closing these apps out because I always forget to do so. Okay, we're all cleared out. Let's go and open up the phone calls three two one and about the same on both in a ginormous difference. Let me go and turn with the brightness here and sliding out. You can see they're about the same two in terms of animation.

We do safari, and we can go ahead and load up some random web page apple 321, and this may have a lot to do with the network connection uh. The iPhone 12 is still ahead of it, though just going through. You can see about the same, not a ginormous difference here, either swiping out of here. Let's do the app stores three two one, and you can see the app store on the iPhone 12 definitely looked way faster. I don't know if there was a specific reason for that.

If you guys know, let me know, maybe it's because the phone's faster loading and everything seems about the same too, but definitely when it came down to the iPhone 12 was the faster one there. As always, I have a lot of these third party apps we can get into. Let's go into temple, run two three two one, and you can see again, the iPhone 12 seems to be faster than the iPhone 10r, and we see this time and time again, you know the newer iPhone, I'm expecting to be faster. I want it to be faster, and this is the case. The iPhone 10 are shortly behind it, not a super crazy deal, but definitely the iPhone 12 was noticeably faster for sure.

Gameplay should be about the same. I think the attender glitched in the beginning, but kind of caught up there, so not a ginormous one in terms of gameplay Dropbox. Three two one iPhone 12 is faster iPhone.10 are a little behind Quizlet three two one iPhone XR again is the faster one, iPhone 12 a little behind it. Netflix three, two one again iPhone 12 is the faster one, iPhone 10r behind it again snake vs blocks 321. Does anybody even play this game anymore? I feel like I'm.

The only one who still uses this game and iPhone 12 was the faster one. iPhone 10r is a little slower and gameplay. I guess we'll see again is a basic game. I feel like the iPhone 12 glitched up there a little but in terms of gameplay they're, both going to be around the same as well. Thank you three two one again iPhone 12 is the faster one.

iPhone 10 are definitely a little behind and more than just being, you know which one is the faster one. I'm sure the iPhone 12 will be the fastest one. Every single time, I'm very curious to see how much faster it is and there's a little there's a noticeable amount of difference for sure stack. Three two one: it's not, as you know, low as something like the 11 pro to the iPhone 12. That was there really wasn't too much of a difference with these.

I'm starting to see a pretty noticeable difference. I still wouldn't even call it a huge difference or groundbreaking or earth-shattering I'll, probably start seeing those when I do like an iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s. But still this is like a pretty close one, but there's some big differences for sure. Still, fruit, ninja three two one and the iPhone 12 is faster, iPhone, 10r, noticeably behind it again. It doesn't even seem like, though, that it's glitching up as more than I would say the iPhone 12.

It just seems like it's slower. In my opinion, Facebook three two one iPhone 12 faster, iPhone l10r a little slower twitter. Three, two one twelve is faster: ten hours, slower, Instagram, three, two one with the older icon here. I remember that, and of course I'm logged in I just should have known that paper. Io2 321 and the iPhone 12 is faster.

iPhone 10 are a little behind it. Getting into some gameplay, let's see if there's a difference, and you guys don't know what the struggle of playing two different games at the same time is, and no I gameplay, but still able to load faster on the 12. Let's get into real racing three, two one. Now this is a big game and I may have to download if it glitches up and shows the downloading page, then it's probably messed up okay, so it's probably not going to download, or you know, load it. For some reason.

That's a really weird glitch. I would probably assume that the iPhone 12 is faster here, so to kind of some speed comparison. What I can tell you is there's a lot of differences for sure, and I'm actually really, really happy that the iPhone 10r was slower. I know it's kind of weird to say, but I've been kind of seeing there haven't been too many crazy differences going from one phone to the other. You know, at least with the iPhone 12 series, and I don't know why this phone restarted, and this was able to keep it.

But in terms of the speed opening like app opening speeds, I'll definitely say the iPhone 10r is slower than the iPhone 12. So if you have an iPhone 10 or going to an iPhone 12 you're going to be seeing at least faster app opening speeds and just faster speeds in general, when you're playing games and everything like that now in terms of ram management they're both looking to be about the same still when you like the app closes, and you go to reopen it, it's still going to be faster on the iPhone 12, but so far, what I'm seeing their, both closing out at the same times, which isn't really a good thing for the iPhone 12. , so hopefully apple fixes that in the future update, but in terms of the speed comparison aspect faster, iPhone, 12 ram management is about the same though so. Let's go and hit on the cameras now, like I said before: dual camera setup here: 12 megapixel, wide 12, megapixel ultrawide, where you have a single 12, megapixel, ultra-wide angle, lens on the iPhone 10r. It's not an ultra-right.

It's a wide angle lens here now. I've said this before, and I'll say it again that the user interfaces and everything are going to be about the same. You can do 4k at 60 on that back camera and I feel like in the back camera. The iPhone 12 is automatically going to win because, first, it's better it's a newer camera, and you have that ultrawide sensor where this one only has one lens, but the front cameras, I think, are the bigger differences on the iPhone 10r. You can do 1080p at 60 frames per second, but the iPhone 12.

You can do 4k at 60 on that front camera and that is really, really cool, no matter whoever is going to use it. I personally use the front camera way more. So me personally, I would automatically rather choose an iPhone 12 over an iPhone 10r, but the iPhone 10 camera is still perfect as well. You know for really anything you're going to do with it and even though it's a single sensor, it's still a really, really good single sensor. For the most part, the software really adds a lot of enhancements to it.

Now again, if you're, comparing this lens and this camera to something like a galaxy s20 or even a galaxy, s10 you're, going to see that these cameras, just don't really stack up, there's just not a lot of features built in you still have portrait mode and 4k at 60, but compared to the s20. You know it's its in a different league and I can compare the iPhone 12 in that same as that category two, by comparing these two iPhones to iPhone this kind of fault in the same area. So this camera quality, I think, is still great for the most part. It's really not even that bad, it's just a front camera. I don't really like about these things now with the iPhone 12.

I can definitely tell you this is a step-up in the right direction.4K 60 ultrawide sensors, and you can do a lot with this camera lens as well, and this is still a brand-new camera, and it still kind of falls in the same area as the iPhone 10 are there's no first 8k capability, which the s20 already has. I was expecting more from these iPhones. In that sense, you can do 4k 60 on the front camera, which automatically makes it better, in my opinion, than the iPhone 10r. But when you look at the competition, and I'm not even including the iPhone 10 or here we'll just let this one go away, but when you look at the phones like the galaxy s20 and those type of phones, it's really crazy. What you know these other manufacturers are able to do and the features they're able to put in into these type of cameras with apple they're.

I don't know what they're doing even the pro max has the same features in the camera department for the most part in terms of software as the iPhone 12, and I really wish that wasn't the case. I wish these phones just all as a whole, had way more features built in, but in terms of these two, the iPhone 10r has a great camera, but the iPhone 12 is the better one. At the end of the day now, in terms of the battery life, this is actually maybe a surprise to you if you're picking up brand-new phones at both these, I truly do feel like the iPhone 10r will have the better battery life, but I will do a better like a bigger speed of battery comparison. First, it will be a full one. This is just like a quick one of me kind of assuming it, but you know both these battery sizes are within like a couple of hundred million powers within each other and because the iPhone 10r is a little less powerful.

It's you know, has a lower resolution display it sips panel, I'm going to assume that the iPhone 10r has probably better battery life, but the iPhone 12 with that a14 chip, maybe a little more optimized. So we just never know at this point, but to kind of sum up this video and say answer the question: should you pick up the iPhone 10r? Should you pick up the iPhone 12? Well I'll. Tell you like this? If you're trying to save as much money as possible and getting the iPhone 10r is the better way to go. In my opinion, there's really not anything crazy that the iPhone 12 can do that. The 10r cannot do you know you can still do everything, it's just the front camera I feel like on.

This phone is really its only downside, but when it comes down to it, the iPhone 10r is a tremendous phone. Has tremendous build quality. Has software support for a very long time? It's still pretty powerful, like you saw with the iPhone 12, it was behind it, but it wasn't like crazy behind it. Wasn't like it was super unuseful. The iPhone 10r.

Still has a lot of power within it. Ram management seems to be kind of about the same on both phones, so I don't know: what's going on there, it's still a powerful phone. You have iOS on it for a long time. You have iOS on it in general, which is really cool, and it's still a good-looking phone. Furthermore, you can buy brand new, and it's much, much cheaper than what the iPhone 12 is.

But if you have all the money in the world and getting an iPhone, 12 is probably the better way to go if you're trying to get a phone now, that'll last you for many more years. This is your phone. This phone will last you for a very long time and that's not to say that you know all new iPhones are the best ones. There are some areas where the iPhone 12 doesn't really compete. Well with against the iPhone 12 battery life is one example, even if they're the same battery life, it's kind of weird, because the iPhone 11 has better battery life.

In my opinion than the iPhone 10r and this phone's battery life is worse than the iPhone 11. So even if you don't want to pick up the iPhone 12 to get the iPhone 11, that's like in the middle of these two phones. That's not a bad idea either, but the iPhone 12 is one of the best iPhones. You can pick up right now. It costs a little more, obviously than the iPhone 10r.

But if you have the money I would say: go for it, but if you're trying to get the best bang for your buck, the iPhone 10r may be the better way to go or even an iPhone 11. The iPhone 12, I think, is a great phone. It's a new design. You know it looks good. It feels good MagSafe on it.

You know better display, which is really cool, but I don't know how many people are really going to be super hyped up about that internally. They're almost they're very similar, there's a lot more similarities and there are differences in my opinion, so that really pretty much covers it up for the most part, if you guys have any other questions or anything, let me know in the comment section below hit the like button now me so much, but definitely hit that subscribe button.
